A Model of an E-Learning Web Site for Teaching and Evaluating Online

This research is endeavoring to design an e-learning web site on the internet having the course name as "Object Oriented Programming" (OOP) for the students of level four at Computer Science Department (CSD). This course is to be taught online (through web) and then a programme is to be designed to evaluate students performance electronically while introducing a comparison between online teaching , e-evaluation and traditional methods of evaluation. The research seeks to lay out a futuristic perception that how the future online teaching and e-electronic evaluation should be the matter which highlights the importance of this research.

Adoption Factors for e-Malls in the SME Sector in Saudi Arabia

The small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector represents one of the fundamental pillars in the trade field. It contributes significantly to raising the economies of countries by providing significant numbers of job opportunities, which are beneficial to directly supporting national economies. One of the most important obstacles facing this sector in the information technology era is the lack of online trading channels with consumers, which require more financial support than the their capabilities. Therefore, e-Malls might be one of the best low-cost solutions to overcome this obstacle. Also, they provide electronic platforms that include most SME requirements for sales via electronic channels as well as offer essential technical support. According to a report published in 2013 by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), the percentage of SMEs is equivalent to 90% of the total number of companies in Saudi Arabia, which is numbered at 848,500. The e-Mall is a modern idea in Saudi Arabia that requires the use of the Disunion Of Innovation (DOI) approach to diffuse e-Malls through determining companies requirements and difficulties. Therefore, this paper focuses on the factors that help SMEs to adopt e-Malls. A quantitative questionnaire was conducted on 108 companies in Saudi Arabia to find what obstacles and requirements they face to adopt an e-Mall and focus on the factors affecting the implementation of this system, which are divided into organizational, technical and cultural factors.

Evaluating m-learning in Saudi Arabian higher education: a case study

Nowadays, mobile devices have become increasingly a part of education for those who study or teach at the university level and school levels. The support of electronic learning (elearning) is essential to making mobile learning (m-learning) successful. This paper presents a study that applies mlearning to a course at Qassim University, where 100 students attended during the academic year 2014, including summer courses. The study aims to demonstrate that m-learning provides students with the ability to engage in reflective thinking, to share information among peers and to facilitate the construction of social knowledge. 90 student questionnaires were filled correctly, remaining 10 had various anomalies and thus were not considered. The study also aims to demonstrate that learning provides methods for education strategies to be easily and rapidly applied. Such strategies include team work, time management, etc. In order to judge the feasibility of applying m-learning widely, a questionnaire was developed. The results indicate that m-learning helps make the process of education more convenient than in the past. A major disadvantage of applying m-learning is inadequate wireless network bandwidth.

Improvement of Control System Performance by Modification of Time Delay

This paper presents a mathematical approach for improving the performance of a control system by modifying the time delay at certain operating conditions. This approach converts a continuous time loop into a discrete time loop. The formula derived is applied successfully to an applicable control system. The results show that the proposed approach efficiently improves the control system performance. The relation between the sampling time and the time delay is obtained. Two different operating conditions are examined to assess the proposed approach in improving the performance of the control system.

The effect of using facebook markup language (fbml) for designing an e-learning model in higher education

This study examines the use of Facebook Markup Language (FBML) to design an e-learning model to facilitate teaching and learning in an academic setting. The qualitative research study presents a case study on how, Facebook is used to support collaborative activities in higher education. We used FBML to design an e-learning model called processes for e-learning resources in the Specialist Learning Resources Diploma (SLRD) program. Two groups drawn from the SLRD program were used; First were the participants in the treatment group and second in the control group. Statistical analysis in the form of a t-test was used to compare the dependent variables between the two groups. The findings show a difference in the mean score between the pre-test and the post-test for the treatment group (achievement, the skill, trends). Our findings suggest that the use of FBML can support collaborative knowledge creation and improved the academic achievement of participatns. The findings are expected to provide insights into promoting the use of Facebook in a learning management system (LMS).

Validation of the IS Impact Model for Measuring the Impact of e-Learning Systems in KSA Universities: Student Perspective

The IS-Impact Measurement Model, developed by Gable, Sedera and Chan in 2008, represents the to-date and expected stream of net profits from a given information system (IS), as perceived by all major user classes. Although this model has been stringently validated in previous studies, its generalizability and verified effectiveness are enhanced through this new application in e-learning. This paper focuses on the re-validation of the findings of the IS-Impact Model in two universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Among the users of 2 universities e-learning systems, 528 students were recruited. A formative validation measurement with SmartPLS, a graphical structural equation modeling tool was used to analyse the collected data. On the basis of the SmartPLS results, as well as with the aid of data-supported IS impact measurements and dimensions, we confirmed the validity of the IS-Impact Model for assessing the effect of e-learning systems in KSA universities. The newly constructed model is more understandable, its use was proved as robust and applicable to various circumstances.

Government Initiatives: The Missing Key for E-commerce Growth in KSA

This paper explores the issues that influence online retailing in Saudi Arabia. Retailers in Saudi Arabia have been reserved in their adoption of electronically delivered aspects of their business. Despite the fact that Saudi Arabia has the largest and fastest growth of ICT marketplaces in the Arab region, e-commerce activities are not progressing at the same speed. Only very few Saudi companies, mostly medium and large companies from the manufacturing sector, are involved in e-commerce implementation. Based on qualitative data collected by conducting interviews with 16 retailers and 16 potential customers in Saudi Arabia, several factors influencing online retailing diffusion in Saudi Arabia are identified. However, government support comes the highest and most influencing factor for online retailing growth as identified by both parties; retailers and potential customers in Saudi Arabia.
