In this note, using some regular triangular tilings of the sphere, the Euclidean plane and the hyperbolic plane, we examine the potential relationship between their discrete Bakry - Emery curvatures and the smooth curvatures of their ambient space forms.
We give a simple algorithm for the construction of the tight span of a finite subset of the Manhattan plane.
The notion of sprays introduced by Lapidus and his co-workers has proved useful in the context of fractal tube formulas. In the present note, we propose a more general concept of sprays, where we allow several generators to make them more convenient for applications to graph-directed fractals. Using a simple functional equation satisfied by the volume of the inner $\varepsilon$-neighborhood of such a generalized spray, we establish a tube formula for them.
We show that the tight span of a path connected subset of the Manhattan plane can be constructed in a very simple way by "hatching" the subset in horizontal and vertical directions and then taking the closure of the resulting set.
We prove that a nonempty closed and geodesically convex subset of the $l_{\infty}$ plane $\mathbb{R}^2_{\infty}$ is hyperconvex and we characterize the tight spans of arbitrary subsets of $\mathbb{R}^2_{\infty}$ via this property: Given any nonempty $X\subseteq\mathbb{R}^2_{\infty}$, a closed, geodesically convex and minimal subset $Y\subseteq\mathbb{R}^2_{\infty}$ containing $X$ is isometric to the tight span $T(X)$ of $X$.
