${\mathcal D}$-Pseudo-Bosons, Complex Hermite Polynomials, and Integral Quantization

The ${\mathcal D}$-pseudo-boson formalism is illustrated with two examples. The first one involves deformed complex Hermite polynomials built using finite-dimensional irreducible representations of the group ${\rm GL}(2,{\mathbb C})$ of invertible $2 \times 2$ matrices with complex entries. It reveals interesting aspects of these representations. The second example is based on a pseudo-bosonic generalization of operator-valued functions of a complex variable which resolves the identity. We show that such a generalization allows one to obtain a quantum pseudo-bosonic version of the complex plane viewed as the canonical phase space and to understand functions of the pseudo-bosonic operators as the quantized versions of functions of a complex variable.

Orthogonal polynomials, Laguerre Fock space and quasi-classical asymptotics

Continuing our earlier investigation of the Hermite case [J. Math. Phys. 55 (2014), 042102], we study an unorthodox variant of the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization scheme associated with Laguerre polynomials. In particular, we describe a "Laguerre analogue" of the classical Fock (Segal-Bargmann) space and the relevant semi-classical asymptotics of its Toeplitz operators; the former actually turns out to coincide with the Hilbert space appearing in the construction of the well-known Barut-Girardello coherent states. Further extension to the case of Legendre polynomials is likewise discussed.

Wigner Functions for Noncommutative Quantum Mechanics: a group representation based construction

This paper is devoted to the construction and analysis of the Wigner functions for noncommutative quantum mechanics, their marginal distributions and star-products, following a technique developed earlier, {\it viz\/,} using the unitary irreducible representations of the group $\g$, which is the three fold central extension of the abelian group of $\mathbb R^4$. These representations have been exhaustively studied in earlier papers. The group $\g$ is identified with the kinematical symmetry group of noncommutative quantum mechanics of a system with two degrees of freedom. The Wigner functions studied here reflect different levels of non-commutativity -- both the operators of position and those of momentum not commuting, the position operators not commuting and finally, the case of standard quantum mechanics, obeying the canonical commutation relations only.

Coadjoint Orbits and Wigner functions of (1+1)-Extended Affine Galilei Group and Galilei Group

We study the coadjoint orbits of the noncentrally extended (1+1)-affine Galilei group and compute the relevant Wigner functions built on them explicitly. We consider the centrally extended (1+1)-Galilei group and study its coadjoint orbits in the second half of the paper. We also compute the Wigner functions built on the corresponding coadjoint orbits subsequently. Finally, a comparative study of the structure of the coadjoint orbits and corresponding Wigner functions between the extended (1+1)-affine Galilei group and the centrally extended (1+1)-Galilei group is presented along with possible physical interpretations.

Deformed Complex Hermite Polynomials

We study a class of bivariate deformed Hermite polynomials and some of their properties using classical analytic techniques and the Wigner map. We also prove the positivity of certain determinants formed by the deformed polynomials. Along the way we also work out some additional properties of the (undeformed) complex Hermite polynomials and their relationships to the standard Hermite polynomials (of a single real variable).

The Quaternionic Affine Group and Related Continuous Wavelet Transforms on Complex and Quaternionic Hilbert Spaces

By analogy with the real and complex affine groups, whose unitary irreducible representations are used to define the one and two-dimensional continuous wavelet transforms, we study here the quaternionic affine group and construct its unitary irreducible representations. These representations are constructed both on a complex and a quaternionic Hilbert space. As in the real and complex cases, the representations for the quaternionic group also turn out to be square-integrable. Using these representations we constrct quaternionic wavelets and continuous wavelet transforms on both the complex and quaternionic Hilbert spaces.

Triply Extended Group of Translations of $\mathbb{R}^{4}$ as Defining Group of NCQM: relation to various gauges

The role of the triply extended group of translations of $\mathbb{R}^{4}$, as the defining group of two dimensional noncommutative quantum mechanics (NCQM), has been studied in \cite{ncqmjmp}. In this paper, we revisit the coadjoint orbit structure and various irreducible representations of the group associated with them. The two irreducible representations corresponding to the Landau and symmetric gauges are found to arise from the underlying defining group. The group structure of the transformations, preserving the commutation relations of NCQM, has been studied along with specific examples. Finally, the relationship of a certain family of UIRs of the underlying defining group with a family of deformed complex Hermite polynomials has been explored .

Quantizations from reproducing kernel spaces

The purpose of this work is to explore the existence and properties of reproducing kernel Hilbert subspaces of $L^2(\C, \, d^2z/π)$ based on subsets of complex Hermite polynomials. The resulting coherent states (CS) form a family depending on a nonnegative parameter $s$. We examine some interesting issues, mainly related to CS quantization, like the existence of the usual harmonic oscillator spectrum despite the absence of canonical commutation rules. The question of mathematical and physical equivalences between the $s$-dependent quantizations is also considered.

Regular subspaces of a quaternionic Hilbert space from quaternionic Hermite polynomials and associated coherent states

We define quaternionic Hermite polynomials by analogy with two families of complex Hermite polynomials. As in the complex case, these polynomials consatitute orthogonal families of vectors in ambient quaternionic $L^2$-spaces. Using these polynomials, we then define regular and anti-regular subspaces of these $L^2$-spaces, the associated reproducing kernels and the ensuing quaternionic coherent states.

The Symmetry Groups of Noncommutative Quantum Mechanics and Coherent State Quantization

We explore the group theoretical underpinning of noncommutative quantum mechanics for a system moving on the two-dimensional plane. We show that the pertinent groups for the system are the two-fold central extension of the Galilei group in $(2+1)$-space-time dimensions and the two-fold extension of the group of translations of $\mathbb R^4$. This latter group is just the standard Weyl-Heisenberg group of standard quantum mechanics with an additional central extension. We also look at a further extension of this group and discuss its significance to noncommutative quantum mechanics. We build unitary irreducible representations of these various groups and construct the associated families of coherent states. A coherent state quantization of the underlying phase space is then carried out, which is shown to lead to exactly the same commutation relations as usually postulated for this model of noncommutative quantum mechanics.

All the Groups of Signal Analysis from the (1+1)-affine Galilei Group

We study the relationship between the (1+1)-affine Galilei group and four groups of interest in signal analysis and image processing, viz., the wavelet or the affine group of the line, the Weyl-Heisenberg, the shearlet and the Stockwell groups. We show how all these groups can be obtained either directly as subgroups, or as subgroups of central extensions of the affine Galilei group. We also study this at the level of unitary representations of the groups on Hilbert spaces.

Some Orthogonal Polynomials Arising from Coherent States

We explore in this paper some orthogonal polynomials which are naturally associated to certain families of coherent states, often referred to as nonlinear coherent states in the quantum optics literature. Some examples turn out to be known orthogonal polynomials but in many cases we encounter a general class of new orthogonal polynomials for which we establish several qualitative results.

Quantization Methods: A Guide for Physicists and Analysts

In this review we attempt to present an overview of some of the better known quantization techniques found in the current literature and used both by physicists and mathematicians. The treatment is more descriptive than rigorous, for we aim to reach both physicists and mathematicians, including non-specialists in the field. It is our hope that an overview such as this will put into perspective the relative successes as well as shortcomings of the various techniques that have been developed and, besides delineating their usefulness in understanding the nature of the quantum regime, will also demonstrate the mathematical richness of the attendant structures.
