Search for a lighter neutral custodial fiveplet scalar in the Georgi-Machacek model

Many researches from both the theoretical and experimental sides have been performed to search for a new Higgs Boson lighter than the 125 $GeV$ Higgs boson which was discovered at the LHC in 2012. In this paper we explore the possibility of constraining a lighter neutral custodial fiveplet scalar $H_{5}^{0}$ in the Georgi-Machacek (GM) model by the latest results of the search for a lighter Higgs boson decaying into two photons from LHC data. The custodial-singlet mass eigenstate $h$ or $H$ is considered to be the LHC observed 125 $GeV$ Higgs boson. A new set of constrained parameters that is favoured by low-mass $H_{5}^{0}$, is proposed to generate events efficiently. The production of $H_{5}^{0}$ from the scan based on the constrained parameters is compared to the latest results of the search for a lighter Higgs boson decaying into two photons by CMS Collaboration, after the theoretical constraints from GM model and the constraints from all existing relevant experimental measurements including the recent results of the Higgs boson searches from the LHC. The numerical analyses of the surviving GM parameter space are performed. The tendencies and correlations of the GM input parameters from the phenomenological studies are summarized. In addition the discovery potential of other interesting decay channels of this low-mass neutral custodial fiveplet scalar are discussed.

Les Houches 2019 Physics at TeV Colliders: New Physics Working Group Report

This report presents the activities of the `New Physics' working group for the `Physics at TeV Colliders' workshop (Les Houches, France, 10--28 June, 2019). These activities include studies of direct searches for new physics, approaches to exploit published data to constrain new physics, as well as the development of tools to further facilitate these investigations. Benefits of machine learning for both the search for new physics and the interpretation of these searches are also presented.

Study of diphoton decays of the lightest scalar Higgs boson in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model

The CMS and ATLAS experiments at the LHC have announced the discovery of a Higgs boson with mass at approximately 125 $GeV/c^{2}$ in the search for the Standard Model Higgs boson via notably the $γγ$ and $ZZ$ to four leptons final states. Considering the recent results on the Higgs boson searches from the LHC, we study the lightest scalar Higgs boson $h_{1}$ in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model by restricting the next-to-lightest scalar Higgs boson $h_{2}$ to be the observed 125 $GeV/c^{2}$ state. We perform a scan over the relevant NMSSM parameter space that is favoured by low fine-tuning considerations. Moreover, we also take the experimental constraints from direct searches, $B$-physics observables, relic density and anomalous magnetic moment of the muon measurements as well as the theoretical considerations into account in our specific scan. We find that the signal rate in the two-photon final state for the NMSSM Higgs boson $h_{1}$ with the mass range from approximately 80 $GeV/c^{2}$ to 122 $GeV/c^{2}$ can be enhanced by a factor up to 3.5, when the Higgs boson $h_{2}$ is required to be compatible with the excess from latest LHC results. This motivates the extension of the search at the LHC for the Higgs boson $h_{1}$ in the diphoton final state down to masses of 80 $GeV/c^{2}$ or lower, in particular with the upcoming proton-proton collision data to be taken at center-of-mass energies of 13-14 $TeV$.

Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 2. Differential Distributions

This Report summarises the results of the second year's activities of the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group. The main goal of the working group was to present the state of the art of Higgs Physics at the LHC, integrating all new results that have appeared in the last few years. The first working group report Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002) focuses on predictions (central values and errors) for total Higgs production cross sections and Higgs branching ratios in the Standard Model and its minimal supersymmetric extension, covering also related issues such as Monte Carlo generators, parton distribution functions, and pseudo-observables. This second Report represents the next natural step towards realistic predictions upon providing results on cross sections with benchmark cuts, differential distributions, details of specific decay channels, and further recent developments.

Higgs boson production via vector-like top-partner decays: diphoton or multilepton plus multijets channels at the LHC

We first build a minimal model of vector-like quarks where the dominant Higgs boson production process at LHC -- the gluon fusion -- can be significantly suppressed, being motivated by the recent stringent constraints from the search for direct Higgs production over a wide Higgs mass range. Within this model, compatible with the present experimental constraints on direct Higgs searches, we demonstrate that the Higgs ($h$) production via a heavy vector-like top-partner ($t_2$) decay, $pp \to t_2 \bar t_2$, $t_2\to t h$, allows to discover a Higgs boson at the LHC and measure its mass, through the decay channels $h\to γγ$ or $h\to ZZ$. We also comment on the recent hint in LHC data from a possible $\sim 125$ GeV Higgs scalar, in the presence of heavy vector-like top quarks.

Les Houches 2011: Physics at TeV Colliders New Physics Working Group Report

We present the activities of the "New Physics" working group for the "Physics at TeV Colliders" workshop (Les Houches, France, 30 May-17 June, 2011). Our report includes new agreements on formats for interfaces between computational tools, new tool developments, important signatures for searches at the LHC, recommendations for presentation of LHC search results, as well as additional phenomenological studies.

The SM and NLO Multileg and SM MC Working Groups: Summary Report

The 2011 Les Houches workshop was the first to confront LHC data. In the two years since the previous workshop there have been significant advances in both soft and hard QCD, particularly in the areas of multi-leg NLO calculations, the inclusion of those NLO calculations into parton shower Monte Carlos, and the tuning of the non-perturbative parameters of those Monte Carlos. These proceedings describe the theoretical advances that have taken place, the impact of the early LHC data, and the areas for future development.
