Rhythmic behavior of an Ising Model with dissipation at low temperature

In this paper we consider the Glauber dynamics for the one-dimensional Ising model with dissipation, in a mesoscopic regime obtained by letting inverse temperature and volume go to infinity with a suitable scaling. In this limit the magnetization has a periodic behavior. Self-organized collective periodicity has been shown for many mean-field models but, to our knowledge, this is the first example with short-range interaction. This supports the view that self-organized periodicity is not linked with the mean-field assumption but it is a thermodynamic phenomenon compatible with short range interactions.

The random walk penalised by its range in dimensions $d\geq 3$

We study a self-attractive random walk such that each trajectory of length $N$ is penalised by a factor proportional to $\exp ( - |R_N|)$, where $R_N$ is the set of sites visited by the walk. We show that the range of such a walk is close to a solid Euclidean ball of radius approximately $ρ_d N^{1/(d+2)}$, for some explicit constant $ρ_d >0$. This proves a conjecture of Bolthausen who obtained this result in the case $d=2$.

A d dimensional nucleation and growth model

We analyze the relaxation time of a ferromagnetic d dimensional growth model on the lattice. The model is characterized by d param- eters which represent the activation energies of a site, depending on the number of occupied nearest neighbours. This model is a natural generalisation of the model studied by Dehghanpour and Schonmann [DS97a], where the activation energy of a site with more than two occupied neighbours is zero.
