Unifying Inflation with early and late Dark Energy in Multi-Fields: Spontaneously broken scale invariant TMT

A unified multi scalar field model with three flat regions is discussed. The three flat regions are the inflation, early and late dark energy epochs. The potential is obtained by a spontaneous breaking of scale invariance generated by Non Riemannian Measures of integration (or Two Measures Theories (TMT)).We define the scale invariant couplings of the scalar fields to the different measures through exponential potentials. Spontaneous breaking of scale invariance takes place when integrating the fields that define the measures. When going to the Einstein frame we obtain: (i) An effective potential for the scalar fields with three flat regions which allows for a unified description of both early universe inflation (in the higher energy density flat region) as well as of present dark energy epoch which can be realized with a double phase, i.e., in two flat regions. (ii) In the slow roll inflation, only one field combination the ``dilaton", which transforms under scale transformations, has non trivial dynamics, the orthogonal one, which is scale invariant remains constant. (iv) In the late universe we define scale invariant couplings of Dark Matter to the dilaton. These couplings define a matter induced potential for the dilaton and extremizing this potential determines the scale invariant scalar field, while all exotic non canonical behavior of the Dark Matter as well as any possible $5^{th}$ force disappear. (v) We calculate the evolution of the late universe under these conditions with the realization of two different possible realizations of $Λ$CDM type scenarios depending of the flat region in the late universe. These two phases could appear at different times in the history of the universe.(vi) From the Planck data, we find the constraints on the parameters during the inflationary epoch and these values are used to obtain constraints relevant to the present epoch.

Reconstructing k-essence: Unifying the attractor $n_S(N)$ and the swampland criteria

The reconstruction of a k-essence inflationary universe, considering the unification between the swampland criteria and the attractor given by the scalar spectral index $n_S(N)$ together with the slow roll parameter $ε(N)$in terms of the number of $e$-folds $N$ is studied. In the context of a coupling of the form $L(ϕ)\,X$ in the k-essence model, we find the effective potential $V$ and the coupling parameter $L$ in terms of the scalar spectral index and the slow roll parameter under a general formalism. To apply the unification in our model, we consider some examples in order to rebuild the effective potential $V(ϕ)$ and the coupling parameter $L(ϕ)$ as a function of the inflaton field $ϕ$. Here, we find that the reconstruction gives rise to an exponential potential and also to natural and hyperbolic inflation, respectively. Thus, in this article we show that it is possible to unify the theoretical foundations from the swampland criteria and the observational parameters corroborated by observations, in the reconstruction of an inflationary universe.

Classically and Quantum stable Emergent Universe from Conservation Laws

It has been recently pointed out by Mithani-Vilenkin that certain emergent universe scenarios which are classically stable are nevertheless unstable semiclassically to collapse. Here, we show that there is a class of emergent universes derived from scale invariant two measures theories with spontaneous symmetry breaking (s.s.b) of the scale invariance, which can have both classical stability and do not suffer the instability pointed out by Mithani-Vilenkin towards collapse. We find that this stability is due to the presence of a symmetry in the "emergent phase", which together with the non linearities of the theory, does not allow that the FLRW scale factor to be smaller that a certain minimum value $a_0$ in a certain protected region.

Instability in interacting dark sector: An appropriate Holographic Ricci dark energy model

In this paper we investigate the consequences of phantom crossing considering the perturbative dynamics in models with interaction in their dark sector. By mean of a general study of gauge-invariant variables in comoving gauge, we relate the sources of instabilities in the structure formation process with the phantom crossing. In order to illustrate these relations and its consequences in more detail, we consider a specific case of an holographic dark energy interacting with dark matter. We find that in spite of the model is in excellent agreement with observational data at background level, however it is plagued of instabilities in its perturbative dynamics. We reconstruct the model in order to avoid these undesirable instabilities, and we show that this implies a modification of the concordance model at background. Also we find drastic changes on the parameters space in our model when instabilities are avoided.

Approach to exact solutions of cosmological perturbations: Tachyon field inflation

An inflationary universe scenario in the context of tachyon field is studied. This study is done from an ansantz for the effective potential of cosmological perturbations $U(η)$. We describe in great detail the analytical solutions of the scalar and tensor perturbations for two different ansantz in the effective potential of cosmological perturbations; the Easther's model and an effective potential similar to power law inflation. Also we find from the background equations that the effective tachyonic potential $V(φ)$, in both models satisfy the properties of a tachyonic potential. We consider the recent data from the Planck data to constrain the parameters in our effective potential of cosmological perturbations.

Curvaton reheating in a Scale Invariant Two Measures Theory

The curvaton reheating mechanism in a Scale Invariant Two Measures Theory defined in terms of two independent non-Riemannian volume forms (alternative generally covariant integration measure densities) on the space-time manifold which are metric independent is studied. The model involves two scalar matter fields, a dilaton, that transforms under scale transformations and it will be used also as the inflaton of the model and another scalar, which does not transform under scale transformations and which will play the role of a curvaton field. Potentials of appropriate form so that the pertinent action is invariant under global Weyl-scale symmetry are introduced. Scale invariance is spontaneously broken upon integration of the equations of motion. After performing transition to the physical Einstein frame we obtain: (i) For given value of the curvaton field an effective potential for the scalar field with two flat regions for the dilaton which allows for a unified description of both early universe inflation as well as of present dark energy epoch;(iii) In the phase corresponding to the early universe, the curvaton has a constant mass and can oscillate decoupled from the dilaton and that can be responsible for both reheating and perturbations in the theory. In this framework, we obtain some interesting constraints on different parameters that appear in our model; (iii) For a definite parameter range the model possesses a non-singular "emergent universe" solution which describes an initial phase of evolution that precedes the inflationary phase. Finally we discuss generalizations of the model, through the effect of higher curvature terms, where inflaton and curvaton can have coupled oscillations.

Interaction in the dark sector

It may well happen that the two main components of the dark sector of the Universe, dark matter and dark energy, do not evolve separately but interact nongravitationally with one another. However, given our current lack of knowledge on the microscopic nature of these two components there is no clear theoretical path to determine their interaction. Yet, over the years, phenomenological interaction terms have been proposed on mathematical simplicity and heuristic arguments. In this paper, based on the likely evolution of the ratio between the energy densities of these dark components, we lay down reasonable criteria to obtain phenomenological, useful, expressions of the said term independent of any gravity theory. We illustrate this with different proposals which seem compatible with the known evolution of the Universe at the background level. Likewise, we show that two possible degeneracies with noninteracting models are only apparent as they can be readily broken at the background level. Further, we analyze some interaction terms that appear in the literature.

Power law inflation with a non-minimally coupled scalar field in light of Planck and BICEP2 data: The exact versus slow roll results

We study power law inflation in the context of non-minimally coupled to the scalar curvature. We analyze the inflationary solutions under an exact analysis and also in the slow roll approximation. In both solutions, we consider the recent data from Planck and BICEP2 data to constraint the parameter in our model. We find that the slow roll approximation is disfavored in the presence of non-minimal couplings during the power law expansion of the Universe.

Stable Emergent Universe -- A Creation without Big-Bang

Based on an earlier introduced new class of generalized gravity-matter models defined in terms of two independent non-Riemannian volume forms (alternative generally covariant integration measure densities) on the space-time manifold, we derive an effective "Einstein-frame" theory featuring the following remarkable properties: (i) We obtain effective potential for the cosmological scalar field possessing two infinitely large flat regions which allows for a unified description of both early universe inflation as well as of present dark energy epoch; (ii) For a specific parameter range the model possesses a non-singular stable "emergent universe" solution which describes an initial phase of evolution that precedes the inflationary phase.

The generalized second law of thermodynamics for interacting $f(R)$ gravity

We examine the validity of the generalized second law (GSL) of gravitational thermodynamics in the context of interacting $f(R)$ gravity. We take into account that the boundary of the universe to be confined by the dynamical apparent horizon in a flat FRW universe. We study the effective equation of state, deceleration parameter and GSL in this interaction-framework. We find that the evolution of the total entropy increases through the interaction term. As a example, we consider a $f(R)$ gravity with a power-law dependence on the curvature $R$. Here, we find exact solutions for a model in which the interaction term is related to the total energy density of matter.

The generalized second law of thermodynamics for the interacting in $f(T)$ gravity

We study the validity of the generalized second law (GSL) of gravitational thermodynamics in a non-flat FRW universe containing the interacting in $f(T)$ gravity. We consider that the boundary of the universe to be confined by the dynamical apparent horizon in FRW universe. In general, we discuss the effective equation of state, deceleration parameter and GLS in this framewok. Also, we find that the interacting-term $Q$ modifies these quantities and in particular, the evolution of the total entropy, results in an increases on the GLS of thermodynamic, by a factor $4π\,R_A^3\,Q/3$. By using a viable $f(T)$ gravity with an exponential dependence on the torsion, we develop a model where the interaction term is related to the total energy density of matter. Here, we find that a crossing of phantom divide line is possible for the interacting-$f(T)$ model.

Warped DGP model in warm intermediate inflation with a general dissipative coefficient in light of BICEP2 and Planck results

A warm inflationary universe scenario on a warped Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati brane during intermediate inflation is studied. We consider a general form for the dissipative coefficient $Γ(T,ϕ)\propto T^{m}/ϕ^{m-1}$, and also study this model in the weak and strong dissipative regimes. We analyze the evolution of the universe in the slow-roll approximation, and find the exact solutions to the equations of motion. In both regimes, we utilize recent data from the BICEP2 experiment and also from the Planck satellite to constrain the parameters in our model in accordance with the theory of cosmological perturbations.

General dissipative coefficient in warm intermediate and logamediate inflation

We study a general form for the dissipative coefficient $Γ(T,ϕ)=C_ϕ\,T^{m}/ϕ^{m-1}$ in the context of warm intermediate and logamediate inflationary universe models. We analyze these models in the weak and strong dissipative regimes. In the slow-roll approximation, we describe in great detail the characteristics of these models. In both regimes, we use recent data from the WMAP nine-year data and Planck data to constrain the parameters appearing in our models.

Intermediate inflation on the brane and warped DGP models

Brane and warped Dvali-Gabadadze-Porrati inflationary universe models in the context of intermediate inflation are studied. In both models we consider that the energy density is a standard scalar field and we discuss the evolution of the universe during the slow-roll inflation. Also, we describe the conditions for these models. The corresponding Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe seven year data are utilized to fix some parameters in our models. Our results are compared to those found in General Relativity.

Intermediate-Generalized Chaplygin Gas inflationary universe model

An intermediate inflationary universe model in the context of a generalized Chaplygin gas is considered. For the matter we consider two different energy densities; a standard scalar field and a tachyon field, respectively. In general, we discuss the conditions of an inflationary epoch for these models. We also, use recent astronomical observations from Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe seven year data for constraining the parameters appearing in our models.

Thawing models in the presence of a generalized Chaplygin gas

In this paper we consider a cosmological model whose main components are a scalar field and a generalized Chaplygin gas. We obtain an exact solution for a flat arbitrary potential. This solution have the right dust limit when the Chaplygin parameter $A\rightarrow 0$. We use the dynamical systems approach in order to describe the cosmological evolution of the mixture for an exponential self-interacting scalar field potential. We study the scalar field with an arbitrary self-interacting potential using the "Method of $f$-devisers." Our results are illustrated for the special case of a coshlike potential. We find that usual scalar-field-dominated and scaling solutions cannot be late-time attractors in the presence of the Chaplygin gas (with $α>0$). We recover the standard results at the dust limit ($A\rightarrow 0$). In particular, for the exponential potential, the late-time attractor is a pure generalized Chaplygin solution mimicking an effective cosmological constant. In the case of arbitrary potentials, the late-time attractors are de Sitter solutions in the form of a cosmological constant, a pure generalized Chaplygin solution or a continuum of solutions, when the scalar field and the Chaplygin gas densities are of the same orders of magnitude. The different situations depend on the parameter choices.

Three thermodynamically-based parametrizations of the deceleration parameter

We propose, and constrain with the latest observational data, three model-independent parametrizations of the cosmic deceleration parameter $q(z)$. They are well behaved and stay finite at all redshifts. We construct them by fixing the value of $q$ at high redshift, $q(z \gg 1) = 1/2$ (as demanded by cosmic structure formation), and at the far future, $q(z = -1) = -1$, and smoothly interpolating $q(z)$ between them. The fixed point at $z = -1$ is not arbitrarily chosen; it readily follows from the second law of thermodynamics. This fairly reduces the ample latitude in parameterizing $q(z)$.

$H(z)$ diagnostics on the nature of dark energy

The two dominant components of the cosmic budget today, pressureles matter and dark energy, may or may not be interacting with each other. Currently, both possibilities appear compatible with observational data. We propose several criteria based on the history of the Hubble factor that can help discern whether they are interacting and whether dark energy is phantom or quintessence in nature.

Emergent Universe from Scale Invariant Two Measures Theory

The dilaton-gravity sector of a linear in the scalar curvature, scale invariant Two Measures Field Theory (TMT), is explored in detail in the context of closed FRW cosmology and shown to allow stable emerging universe solutions. The model possesses scale invariance which is spontaneously broken due to the intrinsic features of the TMT dynamics. We study the transition from the emerging phase to inflation, and then to a zero cosmological constant phase. We also study the spectrum of density perturbations and the constraints that impose on the parameters of the theory.

The generalized second law in the emergent universe

This paper studies whether the generalized second law of thermodynamics is fulfilled in the transition from a generic initial Einstein static phase to the inflationary phase, with constant Hubble rate, and from the end of the latter to the conventional era of thermal radiation dominated expansion. As it turns out, the said law is satisfied provided the radiation component does not largely contribute to the total energy of the static phase.

Warm-Intermediate inflationary universe model in braneworld cosmologies

Warm-intermediate inflationary universe models in the context of braneworld cosmologies, are studied. This study is done in the weak and strong dissipative regimes. We find that, the scalar potentials and dissipation coefficients in terms of the scalar field, evolves as type-power-law and powers of logarithms, respectively. General conditions required for these models to be realizable are derived and discussed. We also study the scalar and tensor perturbations for each regime. We use recent astronomical observations to constraint the parameters appearing in the braneworld models.

Emerging Universe from Scale Invariance

We consider a scale invariant model which includes a $R^{2}$ term in action and show that a stable "emerging universe" scenario is possible. The model belongs to the general class of theories, where an integration measure independent of the metric is introduced. To implement scale invariance (S.I.), a dilaton field is introduced. The integration of the equations of motion associated with the new measure gives rise to the spontaneous symmetry breaking (S.S.B) of S.I. After S.S.B. of S.I. in the model with the $R^{2}$ term (and first order formalism applied), it is found that a non trivial potential for the dilaton is generated. The dynamics of the scalar field becomes non linear and these non linearities are instrumental in the stability of some of the emerging universe solutions, which exists for a parameter range of the theory.

The effect of curvature in thawing models

We study the evolution of spatial curvature for thawing class of dark energy models. We examine the evolution of the equation of state parameter, $w_ϕ$, as a function of the scale factor $a$, for the case in which the scalar field $ϕ$ evolve in nearly flat scalar potential. We show that all such models provide the corresponding approximate analytical expressions for $w_ϕ(Ω_ϕ,Ω_k)$ and $w_ϕ(a)$. We present observational constraints on these models.

Closed inflationary universe in Patch Cosmology

In this article we study closed inflationary universe models using the Gauss-Bonnet Brane. We determine and characterize the existence of a universe with $Ω> 1$, with an appropriate period of inflation. We have found that this model is less restrictive in comparison with the standard approach where a scalar field is considered. We use recent astronomical observations to constrain the parameters appearing in the model.

General conditions required for these models to be realizable are derived and discussed. This study is done in the weak and strong dissipative regimes. Extended open inflationary universes

In this paper we study a type of one-field model for open inflationary universe models in the context of the Jordan-Brans-Dicke theory. In the scenario of a one-bubble universe model we determine and characterize the existence of the Coleman-De Lucia instanton, together with the period of inflation after tunnelling has occurred. Our results are analogous to those found in the Einstein General Relativity models.
