Quantum gravitational corrections at third-order curvature, acoustic analog black holes and their quasinormal modes

Quasinormal modes for bosonic (scalar, electromagnetic, and axial gravitational) and fermionic field perturbations, radiated from black holes that carry quantum gravitational corrections at third order in the curvature to the Schwarzschild solution, are scrutinized from the propagation of analog transonic sound waves across a de Laval nozzle. The thermodynamic variables, the nozzle geometry, the Mach number, and the thrust coefficient are computed as functions of the parameter driving the effective action for quantum gravity containing a dimension-six local operator beyond general relativity. The quasinormal modes for quantum gravitational corrected analog black holes are also determined for higher overtones, yielding a more precise description of the quantum-corrected ringdown process and the gravitational waveform way before the fundamental mode sets in.

Configurational entropy and spectroscopy of pomeron resonances in dynamical AdS/QCD

Pomeron resonances in AdS/QCD are here studied using the configurational entropy (CE). The concept of CE Regge trajectories, associating the CE of the pomeron resonances with both their spin $J^{PC}$ and to their mass spectra, is used to derive the mass spectra of higher $J^{PC}$ pomeron resonances. For it, the linear, the exponential modified and the anomalous quadratic dilatonic models, each one with linear and logarithmic anomalous corrections, are employed. Several methods are implemented, hybridizing AdS/QCD and established data of lattice QCD.

Differential configurational entropy and the gravitational collapse of a kink

The gravitational instability of kinks is scrutinized in the context of information entropy, including the black hole formation near the scalar field critical collapse. The differential configurational entropy (DCE) is computed and examined for globally perturbed static kinks and the far-from-equilibrium kink solutions as well. In the case of the first kink, the DCE determines a critical value of the perturbation parameter regulating points of bifurcation that characterize a phase transition, whose supercritical range leads to collapse and subsequent black hole formation. For the far-from-equilibrium kink solutions, the DCE supports black hole formation.

Fermionic dark matter interaction with the photon and the proton in the quantum field-theoretical approach and generalizations

Mass dimension one quantum fields, constructed upon eigenspinors of the charge conjugation operator with dual helicity (ELKO), are prime candidates to describe dark matter. Their interaction with the photon and the proton, in scattering processes, are here explored and discussed, using both the standard QFT with a Maxwell gauge field and a generalized QFT also involving a Podolsky gauge sector. Renormalization and radiative corrections are analyzed in the ELKO setup, in the context of a generalized spinor dual and the twisted conjugation, both yielding unitarity. Several applications are scrutinized, involving the inherent darkness underlying ELKO construction and galaxies rotation curves, the non-relativistic potential regime, and the Møller-like scattering involving ELKO.

Nuclear information entropy, gravitational form factor, and glueballs in AdS/QCD

The nuclear configurational entropy (NCE) is employed to derive two parameters encoding the Pomeron Regge trajectory and the spectrum of closed strings, which are also related to the glueball mass, precisely matching data of the TOTEM collaboration at the LHC. In the Regge regime of holographic QCD, the (Reggeized) glueball propagator and the gravitational form factor of the proton occupy a relevant spot in AdS/QCD. They are used for deriving the cross-sections for the TeV scale proton-proton scattering process, which are the main ingredient for computing the NCE. The nuclear configurational stability is also addressed.

Additional fermionic fields onto parallelizable 7-spheres

The geometric Fierz identities are here employed to generate new emergent fermionic fields on the parallelizable (curvatureless, torsionfull) 7-sphere ($S^7$). Employing recently found new classes of spinor fields on the $S^7$ spin bundle, new classes of fermionic fields are obtained from their bilinear covariants by a generalized reconstruction theorem, on the parallelizable $S^7$. Using a generalized non-associative product on the octonionic bundle on the parallelizable $S^7$, these new classes of algebraic spinor fields, lifted onto the parallelizable $S^7$, are shown to correctly transform under the Moufang loop generators on $S^7$.

AdS$_5$-Schwarzschild deformed black branes and hydrodynamic transport coefficients

A family of deformed AdS$_5$-Schwarzschild black branes is here derived, employing the membrane paradigm of AdS/CFT. The solution of the Einstein-Hilbert action, with the Gibbons-Hawking term and a counter-term that eliminates eventual divergences, yields a partition function associated with the dual theory which allows the computation of the entropy, pressure and free energy, as state functions, in the canonical ensemble. AdS/CFT near-horizon methods are then implemented to compute the shear viscosity-to-entropy ratio, then restricting the range of the parameter that defines a family of deformed black branes.

Deformed AdS4-Reissner-Nordström black branes and shear viscosity-to-entropy density ratio

A family of deformed AdS4-Reissner-Nordström black branes, governed by a free parameter, is derived using the ADM formalism, in the context of the membrane paradigm. Their new event horizons, the Hawking temperature and other aspects are scrutinized. AdS/CFT near-horizon methods are then implemented to compute the shear viscosity-to-entropy ratio for the deformed AdS4-Reissner-Nordström metric. The Killing equation is shown to yield new values for the free parameter and the shear viscosity-to-entropy ratio is used to derive a reliable range for tidal charge.

Exotic fermionic fields and minimal length

We investigate the effective Dirac equation, corrected by merging two scenarios that are expected to emerge towards the quantum gravity scale. Namely, the existence of a minimal length, implemented by the generalized uncertainty principle, and exotic spinors, associated with any non-trivial topology equipping the spacetime manifold. We show that the free fermionic dynamical equations, within the context of a minimal length, just allow for trivial solutions, a feature that is not shared by dynamical equations for exotic spinors. In fact, in this coalescing setup, the exoticity is shown to prevent the Dirac operator to be injective, allowing the existence of non-trivial solutions.

Spinor symmetries and underlying properties

By exploring a spinor space whose elements carry a spin 1/2 representation of the Lorentz group and satisfy the the Fierz-Pauli-Kofink identities we show that certain symmetries operations form a Lie group. Moreover, we discuss the reflex of the Dirac dynamics in the spinor space. In particular, we show that the usual dynamics for massless spinors in the spacetime is related to an incompressible fluid behavior in the spinor space.

Holographic entanglement entropy under the minimal geometric deformation and extensions

The holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) of the minimal geometrical deformation (MGD) procedure and extensions (EMGD), is scrutinized within the membrane paradigm of AdS/CFT. The HEE corrections of the Schwarzschild and Reissner--Nordström solutions, due to a finite fluid brane tension, are then derived and discussed in the context of the MGD and the EMGD.

Compact Q-balls

In this work we deal with non-topological solutions of the Q-ball type in two space-time dimensions, in models described by a single complex scalar field that engenders global symmetry. The main novelty is the presence of stable Q-balls solutions that live in a compact interval of the real line and appear from a family of models controlled by two distinct parameters. We find analytical solutions and study their charge and energy, and show how to control the parameters to make the Q-balls classically and quantum mechanically stable.

Some Thoughts on Geometries and on the Nature of the Gravitational Field

In this paper we show how a gravitational field generated by a given energy-momentum distribution (for all realistic cases) can be represented by distinct geometrical structures (Lorentzian, teleparallel and non null nonmetricity spacetimes) or that we even can dispense all those geometrical structures and simply represent the gravitational field as a field in the Faraday's sense living in Minkowski spacetime. The explicit Lagrangian density for this theory is given and the field equations (which are Maxwell's like equations) are shown to be equivalent to Einstein's equations. Some examples are worked in detail in order to convince the reader that the geometrical structure of a manifold (modulus some topological constraints) is conventional as already emphasized by Poincare long ago, and thus the realization that there are disctints geometrical representations (and a physical model related to a deformation of the continuum supporting Minkowski spacetime) for any realistic gravitational field strongly suggests that we must investigate the origin of its physical nature. We hope that this paper will convince readers that this is indeed the case.

Torsion Effects in Braneworld Scenarios

We present gravitational aspects of braneworld models endowed with torsion terms both in the bulk and on the brane. In order to investigate a conceivable and measurable gravitational effect, arising genuinely from bulk torsion terms, we analyze the variation in the black hole area by the presence of torsion. Furthermore, we extend the well known results about consistency conditions in a framework that incorporates brane torsion terms. It is shown, in a rough estimate, that the resulting effects are generally suppressed by the internal space volume. This formalism provides manageable models and their possible ramifications into some aspects of gravity in this context, and cognizable corrections and physical effects as well.

Perturbative self-interacting scalar field theory: a differential equation approach

We revisit the investigation about the partition function related to a ϕ^4-scalar field theory on a n-dimensional Minkowski spacetime, which is shown to be a self-interacting scalar field theory at least in 4-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. After rederiving the analytical calculation of the perturbative expansion coefficients and also the approximate values for suitable limits using Stirling's formulae, which consists of Witten's proposed questions, solved by P. Deligne, D. Freed, L. Jeffrey, and S. Wu, we investigate a spherically symmetric scalar field in a n-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. For the first perturbative expansion coefficient it is shown how it can be derived a modified Bessel equation (MBE), which solutions are investigated in one, four, and eleven-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. The solutions of MBE are the first expansion coefficient of the series associated with the partition function of ϕ^4-scalar field theory. All results are depicted.
