Neutronics Analysis for MSR Cell with Different Fuel Salt Channel Geometry

The neutronic properties of Molten Salt Reactor are different from that of traditional solid-fuel reactors due to its nuclear fuel particularity. Based upon MCNP code, the influence of the size and shape of fuel salt channel on neutron physics of MSR cell was studied systematically in this work. The results show that the infinite multiplication factors increases first and then decreases with the change of graphite cell size under the condition of given fuel volume fraction. In the case of the same FVF and average chord length, when the average chord length is relatively small, the k values with different fuel salt channel shapes are in good agreement; when the average chord length is relatively large, the k values with different fuel salt channel shapes are greatly different. In addition, some examples of practical application of this work are illustrated in the end, including cell selection for the core and thermal expansion displacement analysis of the cell.

Deep Multi-Modal Sets

Many vision-related tasks benefit from reasoning over multiple modalities to leverage complementary views of data in an attempt to learn robust embedding spaces. Most deep learning-based methods rely on a late fusion technique whereby multiple feature types are encoded and concatenated and then a multi layer perceptron (MLP) combines the fused embedding to make predictions. This has several limitations, such as an unnatural enforcement that all features be present at all times as well as constraining only a constant number of occurrences of a feature modality at any given time. Furthermore, as more modalities are added, the concatenated embedding grows. To mitigate this, we propose Deep Multi-Modal Sets: a technique that represents a collection of features as an unordered set rather than one long ever-growing fixed-size vector. The set is constructed so that we have invariance both to permutations of the feature modalities as well as to the cardinality of the set. We will also show that with particular choices in our model architecture, we can yield interpretable feature performance such that during inference time we can observe which modalities are most contributing to the prediction. With this in mind, we demonstrate a scalable, multi-modal framework that reasons over different modalities to learn various types of tasks. We demonstrate new state-of-the-art performance on two multi-modal datasets (Ads-Parallelity [34] and MM-IMDb [1]).

Mean Field Equilibria for Competitive Exploration in Resource Sharing Settings

We consider a model of nomadic agents exploring and competing for time-varying location-specific resources, arising in crowdsourced transportation services, online communities, and in traditional location based economic activity. This model comprises a group of agents, and a set of locations each endowed with a dynamic stochastic resource process. Each agent derives a periodic reward determined by the overall resource level at her location, and the number of other agents there. Each agent is strategic and free to move between locations, and at each time decides whether to stay at the same node or switch to another one. We study the equilibrium behavior of the agents as a function of dynamics of the stochastic resource process and the nature of the externality each agent imposes on others at the same location. In the asymptotic limit with the number of agents and locations increasing proportionally, we show that an equilibrium exists and has a threshold structure, where each agent decides to switch to a different location based only on their current location's resource level and the number of other agents at that location. This result provides insight into how system structure affects the agents' collective ability to explore their domain to find and effectively utilize resource-rich areas. It also allows assessing the impact of changing the reward structure through penalties or subsidies.

PrisCrawler: A Relevance Based Crawler for Automated Data Classification from Bulletin Board

Nowadays people realize that it is difficult to find information simply and quickly on the bulletin boards. In order to solve this problem, people propose the concept of bulletin board search engine. This paper describes the priscrawler system, a subsystem of the bulletin board search engine, which can automatically crawl and add the relevance to the classified attachments of the bulletin board. Priscrawler utilizes Attachrank algorithm to generate the relevance between webpages and attachments and then turns bulletin board into clear classified and associated databases, making the search for attachments greatly simplified. Moreover, it can effectively reduce the complexity of pretreatment subsystem and retrieval subsystem and improve the search precision. We provide experimental results to demonstrate the efficacy of the priscrawler.
