Dictionary for the type II nongeometric flux compactifications

We study the $T$-dual completion of the four-dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ type II effective potentials in the presence of (non-)geometric fluxes. First, we invoke a cohomology version of the $T$-dual transformations among the various moduli, axions and the fluxes appearing in the type IIA and type IIB effective supergravities. This leads to some useful observations about a significant mixing of the standard NS-NS fluxes with the (non-)geometric fluxes on the mirror side. Further, using our $T$-duality rules, we establish an explicit mapping among the $F$-terms, $D$-terms, tadpole conditions as well as the Bianchi identities of the two theories. Secondly, we propose what we call a set of "axionic flux polynomials", which depend on all the axionic moduli and the fluxes. This subsequently helps in presenting the two scalar potentials in a concise and manifestly $T$-dual form, which can be directly utilized for various phenomenological purposes as we illustrate in a couple of examples.

Divisor topologies of CICY 3-folds and their applications to phenomenology

In this article, we present a classification for the divisor topologies of the projective complete intersection Calabi-Yau (pCICY) 3-folds realized as hypersurfaces in the product of complex projective spaces. There are 7890 such pCICYs of which 7820 are favorable, and can be subsequently useful for phenomenological purposes. To our surprise we find that the whole pCICY database results in only 11 (so-called coordinate) divisors $(D)$ of distinct topology and we classify those surfaces with their possible deformations inside the pCICY 3-fold, which turn out to be satisfying $1 \leq h^{2,0}(D) \leq 7$. We also present a classification of the so-called ample divisors for all the favorable pCICYs which can be useful for fixing all the (saxionic) Kähler moduli through a single non-perturbative term in the superpotential. We argue that this relatively unexplored pCICY dataset equipped with the necessary model building ingredients, can be used for a systematic search of physical vacua. To illustrate this for model building in the context of type IIB CY orientifold compactifications, we present moduli stabilization with some preliminary analysis of searching possible vacua in simple models, as a template to be adopted for analyzing models with a larger number of Kähler moduli.

Rigid nongeometric orientifolds and the swampland

Nongeometric flux compactifications with frozen complex structure moduli have been recently studied for several phenomenological purposes. In this context, we analyze the possibility of realizing de-Sitter solutions in the context of ${\cal N} =1$ type II nongeometric flux compactifications using the ${\mathbb T}^6/({\mathbb Z}_3 \times {\mathbb Z}_3)$ toroidal orientifolds. For the type IIB case, we observe that the Bianchi identities are too strong to simultaneously allow both the NS-NS three-form flux ($H_3$) and the nongeometric ($Q$) flux to take non-zero values, which makes this model irrelevant for phenomenology due to the no-scale structure. For the type IIA case, we find that all the (nongeometric) flux solutions satisfying the Bianchi identities result in de-Sitter no-go scenarios except for one case in which the no-go condition can be evaded. However for this case also, in our (limited) numerical investigation we do not find any de-Sitter vacua using the integer fluxes satisfying all the Bianchi identities.

Stabilising all Kähler moduli in perturbative LVS

In this work we investigate the moduli stabilisation problem and the requirements for de Sitter vacua within the framework of type IIB string theory. Using perturbative effects arising from the various sources such as $α^\prime$ corrections, logarithmic as well as KK and winding-type string-loop corrections along with the higher derivative $F^4$-contributions, we present a moduli stabilisation scheme in which the overall volume is realised at exponentially large values such that $\langle {\cal V} \rangle \simeq e^{a/g_s^2}$ in the weak coupling regime, where $a$ is a parameter given as $a = \frac{ζ[3]}{2 ζ[2]} \simeq 0.365381$. We also present a concrete global construction using a $K3$-fibred CY threefold with $h^{1,1} =3$ which shares many of its properties with those of the standard toroidal case, and subsequently generates the appropriate corrections needed to fix all the three Kähler moduli at the perturbative level. We further discuss whether de Sitter vacua can be ensured through appropriate contributions of uplifting terms in the effective potential.

Systematics of perturbatively flat flux vacua

In this article, we present a systematic analysis of the so-called perturbatively flat flux vacua (PFFV) for the mirror Calabi-Yau (CY) $3$-folds ($\tilde{X}_3$) with $h^{1,1}(\tilde{X}_3) =2$ arising from the Kreuzer-Skarke database of the four-dimensional reflexive polytopes. We consider the divisor topologies of the CY $3$-folds for classifying the subsequent models into three categories; (i) models with the so-called Swiss-cheese structure, (ii) models with the $K3$-fibered structure, and (iii) the remaining ones which we call as models of "Hybrid type". In our detailed analysis of PFFV we find that for a given fixed value of the D$3$ tadpole charge $N_{\text{flux}}$, the $K3$-fibered mirror CY $3$-folds have significantly larger number of such PFFV as compared to those which have Swiss-cheese structure, while the Hybrid type models have a mixed behavior. We also compute the Gopakumar-Vafa invariants necessary for fixing the flat valley in the weak string-coupling and large complex-structure regime by using the non-perturbative effects, which subsequently reduce the number of physically trustworthy vacua quite significantly. Moreover, we find that there are some examples in which the PFFV are protected even at the leading orders of the non-perturbative effects due to the some underlying symmetry in the CY geometry, which we call as "Exponentially flat flux vacua". We also present a new class of PFFV using the $\mathcal{S}$-duality arguments.

Systematics of type IIB moduli stabilisation with odd axions

Moduli stabilisation in superstring compactifications on Calabi-Yau orientifolds remains a key challenge in the search for realistic string vacua. In particular, odd moduli arising from the reduction of 2-forms $(B_2,C_2)$ in type IIB are largely unexplored despite their relevance for inflationary model building. This article provides novel insights into the general structure of 4D $\mathcal{N}=1$ $F$-term scalar potentials at higher orders in the $α^{\prime}$ and $g_{s}$ expansion for arbitrary Hodge numbers. We systematically examine superpotential contributions with distinct moduli dependences which are induced by fluxes or non-perturbative effects. Initially, we prove the existence of a no-scale structure for odd moduli in the presence of $(α^\prime)^{3}$ corrections to the Kähler potential. By studying a partially $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{Z})$-completed form of the Kähler potential, we derive the exact no-scale breaking effects at the closed string $1$-loop and non-perturbative D-instanton level. These observations allow us to present rigorous expressions for the $F$-term scalar potential applicable to arbitrary numbers of moduli in type IIB Calabi-Yau orientifold compactifications. Finally, we compute the Hessian for odd moduli and discuss potential phenomenological implications.

The Standard Model Quiver in de Sitter String Compactifications

We argue that the Standard Model quiver can be embedded into compact Calabi-Yau geometries through orientifolded D3-branes at del Pezzo singularities $\mathrm{dP}_n$ with $n\geq 5$ in a framework including moduli stabilisation. To illustrate our approach, we explicitly construct a local $\mathrm{dP}_{5}$ model via a combination of Higgsing and orientifolding. This procedure reduces the original $\mathrm{dP}_{5}$ quiver gauge theory to the Left-Right symmetric model with three families of quarks and leptons as well as a Higgs sector to further break the symmetries to the Standard Model gauge group. We embed this local model in a globally consistent Calabi-Yau flux compactification with tadpole and Freed-Witten anomaly cancellations. The model features closed string moduli stabilisation with a de Sitter minimum from T-branes, supersymmetry broken by the Kähler moduli, and the MSSM as the low energy spectrum. We further discuss phenomenological and cosmological implications of this construction.

$T$-dualizing the de-Sitter no-go scenarios

In the context of realizing de-Sitter vacua and the slow-roll inflation, several no-go conditions have been found in the framework of type IIA (generalized) flux compactifications. In this article, using our recently proposed $T$-dual dictionary in arXiv:1909.07391, we translate various such type IIA no-go conditions which subsequently leads to some interesting de-Sitter no-go scenarios in the presence of (non-)geometric fluxes on the dual type IIB side. We also present the relevance of using $K3/{\mathbb T}^4$-fibred Calabi Yau threefolds in order to facilitate one particular class of the de-Sitter no-go conditions. This analysis helps in refining certain corners of the vast non-geometric flux landscape for the hunt of de-Sitter vacua.

Systematics of Type IIA moduli stabilisation

We analyse the flux-induced scalar potential for type IIA orientifolds in the presence of $p$-form, geometric and non-geometric fluxes. Just like in the Calabi-Yau case, the potential presents a bilinear structure, with a factorised dependence on axions and saxions. This feature allows one to perform a systematic search for vacua, which we implement for the case of geometric backgrounds. Guided by stability criteria, we consider configurations with a particular on-shell F-term pattern, for which we derive a no-go result for de Sitter extrema. We classify branches of supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric vacua, and argue that the latter are perturbatively stable for a large subset of them. Our solutions reproduce and generalise previous results in the literature, obtained either from the 4d or 10d viewpoint.

Reading off the non-geometric scalar potentials via topological data of the Calabi Yau manifolds

In the context of studying the 4D effective potentials of type IIB non-geometric flux compactifications, this article has a twofold goal. First, we present a modular invariant symplectic rearrangement of the tree level non-geometric scalar potential arising from a flux superpotential which includes the S-dual pairs of non-geometric fluxes $(Q, P)$, the standard NS-NS and RR three-form fluxes $(F_3, H_3)$ and the geometric flux ($ω$). This `symplectic formulation' is valid for arbitrary numbers of Kähler moduli, and the complex structure moduli which are implicitly encoded in a set of symplectic matrices. In the second part, we further explicitly rewrite all the symplectic ingredients in terms of saxionic and axionic components of the complex structure moduli. The same leads to a compact form of the generic scalar potential being explicitly written out in terms of all the real moduli/axions. Moreover, the final form of the scalar potential needs only the knowledge of some topological data (such as hodge numbers and the triple intersection numbers) of the compactifying (CY) threefolds and their respective mirrors. Finally, we demonstrate how the same is equivalent to say that, for a given concrete example, various pieces of the scalar potential can be directly read off from our generic proposal, without the need of starting from the Kähler- and super-potentials.

Revisiting the two formulations of Bianchi identities and their implications on moduli stabilization

In the context of non-geometric type II orientifold compactifications, there have been two formulations for representing the various NS-NS Bianchi-identities. In the first formulation, the standard three-form flux ($H_3$), the geometric flux ($ω$) and the non-geometric fluxes ($Q$ and $R$) are expressed by using the real six-dimensional indices (e.g. $H_{ijk}, ω_{ij}{}^k, Q_i{}^{jk}$ and $R^{ijk}$), and this formulation has been heavily utilized for simplifying the scalar potentials in toroidal-orientifolds. On the other hand, relevant for the studies beyond toroidal backgrounds, a second formulation is utilized in which all flux components are written in terms of various involutively even/odd $(2,1)$- and $(1,1)$-cohomologies of the complex threefold. In the lights of recent model building interests and some observations made in arXiv:0705.3410 and arXiv:0709.2186, in this article, we revisit two most commonly studied toroidal examples in detail to illustrate that the present forms of these two formulations are not completely equivalent. To demonstrate the same, we translate all the identities of the first formulation into cohomology ingredients, and after a tedious reshuffling of the subsequent constraints, interestingly we find that all the identities of the second formulation are embedded into the first formulation which has some additional constraints. In addition, we look for the possible solutions of these Bianchi identities in a detailed analysis, and we find that some solutions can reduce the size of scalar potential very significantly, and in some cases are too strong to break the no-scale structure completely. Finally, we also comment on the influence of imposing some of the solutions of Bianchi identities in studying moduli stabilization.

Some inequalities bridging stringy parameters and cosmological observables

By demanding the validity of an effective field theory description during inflation, in this note we derive some peculiar inequalities among the three interesting stringy and cosmological parameters, namely the tensor-to-scalar ratio ($r$), the string coupling ($g_s$) and the compactification volume (${\cal V}$). In deriving these inequalities, we explicitly demand that the inflationary scale and the Hubble parameter during inflation are well below the Kaluza-Klein (KK) mass scale, string scale, and the four dimensional Planck mass. For the inflationary models developed within the framework of type IIB orientifold comapctification, we investigate the regions of parameters space spanned by the three parameters $(r, g_s, {\cal V})$ by satisfying our inequalities, and we find that the same can reduce the size of available parameter space quite significantly. Moreover, we comment on obtaining further constraints on the parameters by comparing gravitino mass ($m_{3/2}$) with the Hubble scale ($H$), which also provides a lower bound on tensor-to-scalar ratio ($r$), for the cases when $m_{3/2} <H$. We also illustrate the outcome of our bounds in some specific class of string(-inspired) models.

A symplectic rearrangement of the four dimensional non-geometric scalar potential

We present a symplectic rearrangement of the effective four-dimensional non-geometric scalar potential resulting from type IIB superstring compactification on Calabi Yau orientifolds. The strategy has two main steps. In the first step, we rewrite the four dimensional scalar potential utilizing some interesting flux combinations which we call new generalized flux orbits. After invoking a couple of non-trivial symplectic relations, in the second step, we further rearrange all the pieces of scalar potential into a completely `symplectic-formulation' which involves only the symplectic ingredients (such as period matrix etc.) without the need of knowing Calabi Yau metric. Moreover, the scalar potential under consideration is induced by a generic tree level Kähler potential and (non-geometric) flux superpotential for arbitrary numbers of complex structure moduli, Kähler moduli and odd-axions. Finally, we exemplify our symplectic formulation for the two well known toroidal examples based on type IIB superstring compactification on ${\mathbb T}^6/{({\mathbb Z}_2 \times {\mathbb Z}_2)}$-orientifold and ${\mathbb T}^6/{{\mathbb Z}_4}$-orientifold.

Dimensional oxidation and modular completion of non-geometric type IIB action

Utilizing a setup of type IIB superstring theory compactified on an orientifold of T^6/(Z2xZ2), we propose a modular invariant dimensional oxidation of the four-dimensional scalar potential. In the oxidized ten-dimensional supergravity action, the standard NS-NS and RR three form fluxes (H-, F-) as well as the non-geometric fluxes (Q-, P-) are found to nicely rearrange themselves to form generalized flux-combinations. As an application towards moduli stabilization, using the same S-duality invariant scalar potential, we examine the recently proposed No-Go theorem (in arXiv:1409.7075) about creating a mass-hierarchy between universal-axion and the dilaton relevant for axionic-inflation. Considering a two-field dynamics of universal axion and dilaton while assuming the other moduli/axions being stabilized, we find a part of the No-Go arguments to be quite robust even with the inclusion of non-geometric (Q-, P-) fluxes.

Implementing odd-axions in dimensional oxidation of non-geometric type IIB action

In a setup of type IIB superstring compactification on an orientifold of a ${\mathbb T}^6/{\mathbb Z}_4$ sixfold, the presence of geometric flux ($ω$) and non-geometric fluxes ($Q, R$) is implemented along with the standard NS-NS and RR three-form fluxes ($H, F$). After computing the F/D-term contributions to the ${\cal N}=1$ four dimensional effective scalar potential, we rearrange the same into `suitable' pieces by using a set of new generalized flux orbits. Subsequently, we dimensionally oxidize the various pieces of the total four dimensional scalar potential to guess their ten-dimensional origin.

On modular completion of generalized flux orbits

In the context of type IIB orientifold compactification with the presence of (non-)geometric fluxes, we conjecture a modular completed version of the generalized flux-orbits of various NS-NS and RR fluxes. Subsequently, considering two explicit examples with frozen complex structure moduli, we illustrate the utility of these new flux orbits in a very compact rearrangement of the four dimensional effective scalar potential.

Combining Universal and Odd RR Axions for Aligned Natural Inflation

We successfully embed the Kim-Nilles-Peloso (KNP) alignment mechanism for enhancing the axion decay constant in the context of large volume type IIB orientifolds. The flat direction is generated in the plane of ($C_0$-$C_2$) axions corresponding to the involutively even universal axion $C_0$ and odd axion $C_2$, respectively. The moduli stabilization with large volume scheme has been established as well.

Cosmological observables in multi-field inflation with a non-flat field space

Using $δN$ formalism, in the context of a generic multi-field inflation driven on a non-flat field space background, we revisit the analytic expressions of the various cosmological observables such as scalar/tensor power spectra, scalar/tensor spectral tilts, non-Gaussianity parameters, tensor-to-scalar ratio, and the various runnings of these observables. In our backward formalism approach, the subsequent expressions of observables automatically include terms beyond the leading order slow-roll expansion correcting many of the expression at subleading order. To connect our analysis properly with the earlier results, we rederive the (well) known (single field) expressions in the limiting cases of our generic formulae. Further, in the light of PLANCK results, we examine for the compatibility of the consistency relations within the slow-roll regime of a two-field roulette poly-instanton inflation realized in the context of large volume scenarios.

Fractional chaotic inflation in the lights of PLANCK and BICEP2

In the lights of current BICEP2 observations accompanied with the PLANCK satellite results, it has been observed that the simple single field chaotic inflationary models provide a good agreement with their spectral index n_s and large tensor-to-scalar ratio r (0.15 <r <0.26). To explore the other simple models, we consider the fractional-chaotic inflationary potentials of the form V_0 phi^(a/b) where a and b are relatively prime. We show that such kind of inflaton potentials can be realized elegantly in the supergravity framework with generalized shift symmetry and a nature bound a/b < 4 for consistency. Especially, for the number of e-folding from 50 to 60 and some a/b from 2 to 3, our predictions are nicely within at least 1 $σ$ region in the r-n_s plane. We also present a systematic investigation of such chaotic inflationary models with fractional exponents to explore the possibilities for the enhancement in the magnitude of running of spectral index (α_{n_s}) beyond the simplistic models.

The zero mode structure for the generation of poly-instanton corrections for Euclidian D3-branes wrapping complex surfaces in Type IIB orientifolds with O7- and O3-planes is analyzed. Working examples of such surfaces and explicit embeddings into compact Calabi-Yau threefolds are presented, with special emphasis on geometries capable of realizing the LARGE volume scenario.

Dimensional Oxidation of Non-geometric Fluxes in Type II Orientifolds

Some aspects of string compactifications with non-geometric fluxes are revisited in the light of recent progress in double field theory. After rederiving the general form of these fluxes, we consider the proposed flux induced four-dimensional effective superpotential and oxidize its induced scalar potential to terms in a ten-dimensional action. This analysis is performed independently for an explicit toroidal type IIA and its T-dual type IIB orientifold. We show in detail that the result of this bottom-up approach is compatible with the gauged supergravity motivated flux formulation of the double field theory action in both the NS-NS and the R-R sector.

F-term Stabilization of Odd Axions in LARGE Volume Scenario

In the context of the LARGE volume scenario, stabilization of axionic moduli is revisited. This includes both even and odd axions with their scalar potential being generated by F-term contributions via various tree-level and non-perturbative effects like fluxed E3-brane instantons and fluxed poly-instantons. In all the cases, we estimate the decay constants and masses of the axions involved.

Moduli Stabilization and Inflationary Cosmology with Poly-Instantons in Type IIB Orientifolds

Equipped with concrete examples of Type IIB orientifolds featuring poly-instanton corrections to the superpotential, the effects on moduli stabilization and inflationary cosmology are analyzed. Working in the framework of the LARGE volume scenario, the Kaehler modulus related to the size of the four-cycle supporting the poly-instanton contributes sub-dominantly to the scalar potential. It is shown that this Kaehler modulus gets stabilized and, by displacing it from its minimum, can play the role of an inflaton. Subsequent cosmological implications are discussed and compared to experimental data.

On Classifying the Divisor Involutions in Calabi-Yau Threefolds

In order to support the odd moduli in models of (type IIB) string compactification, we classify the Calabi-Yau threefolds with h^{1,1}<=4 which exhibit pairs of identical divisors, with different line-bundle charges, mapping to each other under possible divisor exchange involutions. For this purpose, the divisors of interest are identified as completely rigid surface, Wilson surface, K3 surface and some other deformation surfaces. Subsequently, various possible exchange involutions are examined under the symmetry of Stanley-Reisner Ideal. In addition, we search for the Calabi-Yau theefolds which contain a divisor with several disjoint components. Under certain reflection involution, such spaces also have nontrivial odd components in (1,1)-cohomology class. String compactifications on such Calabi-Yau orientifolds with non-zero h^{1,1}_-(CY_3/σ) could be promising for concrete model building in both particle physics and cosmology. In the spirit of using such Calabi-Yau orientifolds in the context of LARGE volume scenario, we also present some concrete examples of (strong/weak) swiss-cheese type volume form.

On Non-Gaussianities in Two-Field Poly-Instanton Inflation

In the context of Type IIB LARGE volume orientifold setup equipped with poly-instanton corrections, the standard single-field poly-instanton inflation driven by a 'Wilson' divisor volume modulus is generalized by the inclusion of respective axion modulus. This two-field dynamics results in a "Roulette" type inflation with the presence of several inflationary trajectories which could produce 50 (or more) e-foldings. The evolution of various trajectories along with physical observables are studied. The possibility of generating primordial non-Gaussianities in the slow-roll as well as in the beyond slow-roll region is investigated. We find that although the non- linearity parameters are quite small during the slow-roll regime, the same are significantly enhanced in the beyond slow-roll regime investigated up to the end of inflation.

Moduli Thermalization and Finite Temperature Effects in "Big" Divisor Large Volume D3/D7 Swiss-Cheese Compactification

In the context of Type IIB compactified on a large volume Swiss-Cheese orientifold in the presence of a mobile space-time filling D3-brane and stacks of fluxed D7-branes wrapping the "big" divisor Sigma_B of a Swiss-Cheese Calabi Yau in WCP^4 [1,1,1,6,9], we explore various implications of moduli dynamics and discuss their couplings and decay into MSSM (-like) matter fields early in the history of universe to reach thermal equilibrium. Like finite temperature effects in O'KKLT, we observe that the local minimum of zero-temperature effective scalar potential is stable against any finite temperature corrections (up to two-loops) in large volume scenarios as well. Also, we find that moduli are heavy enough to avoid any cosmological moduli problem.

On 'Light' Fermions and Proton Stability in 'Big Divisor' D3/D7 Swiss Cheese Phenomenology

Building up on our earlier work [1,2], we show the possibility of generating "light" fermion mass scales of MeV-GeV range (possibly related to first two generations of quarks/leptons) as well as eV (possibly related to first two generations of neutrinos) in type IIB string theory compactified on Swiss-Cheese orientifolds in the presence of a mobile space-time filling D3-$brane restricted to (in principle) stacks of fluxed D7-branes wrapping the "big" divisor Σ_B. This part of the paper is an expanded version of the latter half of section 3 of a published short invited review [3] written up by one of the authors [AM]. Further, we also show that there are no SUSY GUT-type dimension-five operators corresponding to proton decay, as well as estimate the proton lifetime from a SUSY GUT-type four-fermion dimension-six operator to be 10^{61} years. Based on GLSM calculations in [1] for obtaining the geometric Kaehler potential for the "big divisor", using further the Donaldson's algorithm, we also briefly discuss in the first of the two appendices, obtaining a metric for the Swiss-Cheese Calabi-Yau used, that becomes Ricci flat in the large volume limit.

Topics In Large Volume Swiss-Cheese Compactification Geometries

In this review article, we present a systematic study of large volume type IIB string compactifications that addresses several interesting issues in string cosmology and string phenomenology within a single string compactification scheme. The issues in string cosmology include obtaining a metastable non-supersymmetric dS minimum without adding anti-D3 branes and obtaining slow-roll inflation with the required number of 60 e-foldings along with non-trivial non-Gaussianities and gravitational waves. For studying cosmology and phenomenology within a single string compactification scheme, we provide a geometric resolution to a long-standing tension between LVS cosmology and LVS phenomenology after incorporating the effect of a single mobile spacetime-flling D3-brane and stacks of fluxed D7-branes wrapping the "big" divisor of a Swiss-Cheese CY. Further, using GLSM techniques and the toric data for the Swiss-Cheese CY, we calculate geometric Kaehler potential in LVS limit which are subdominant as compared to the tree level and (non-) perturbative contributions. The issues in string phenomenology which has been addressed in this review article, include realizing order one YM couplings, obtaining O(TeV) gravitino and explicit calculation of various soft masses and couplings along with the possibility of realizing fermionic mass scales of first two generations, order eV neutrino mass scale and an estimate of the proton lifetime. Apart from the issues related to (string) cosmology/phenomenology, we also discuss some other interesting issues on implications of moduli stabilization via inclusion of fluxes in the same type IIB compactification scheme. These issues include the existence of area codes, `inverse-problem' related to non-supersymmetric black hole attractors and existence of fake superpotentials.

Soft SUSY Breaking Parameters and RG Running of Squark and Slepton Masses in Large Volume Swiss Cheese Compactifications

We consider type IIB large volume compactifications involving orientifolds of the Swiss-Cheese Calabi-Yau WCP^4[1; 1; 1; 6; 9] with a single mobile space-time filling D3-brane and stacks of D7-branes wrapping the "big" divisor (as opposed to the "small" divisor usually done in the literature thus far) as well as supporting D7-brane fluxes. After reviewing our proposal of [1] for resolving a long-standing tension between large volume cosmology and phenomenology pertaining to obtaining a 10^12 GeV gravitino in the inflationary era and a TeV gravitino in the present era, and summarizing our results of [1] on soft supersymmetry breaking terms and open-string moduli masses, we discuss the one-loop RG running of the squark and slepton masses in mSUGRA-like models (using the running of the gaugino masses) to the EW scale in the large volume limit. Phenomenological constraints and some of the calculated soft SUSY parameters identify the D7-brane Wilson line moduli as the first two generations/families of squarks and sleptons and the D3-brane (restricted to the big divisor) position moduli as the two Higgses for MSSM-like models at TeV scale. We also discuss how the obtained open-string/matter moduli make it easier to impose FCNC constraints, as well as RG flow of off-diagonal squark mass(-squared) matrix elements.

Swiss Cheese D3-D7 Soft SUSY Breaking

In type IIB large volume compactifications involving orientifolds of the Swiss-Cheese Calabi-Yau [11169] with a single mobile space-time filling D3-brane and stacks of D7-branes wrapping the "big" divisor (D_5) and supporting D7-brane fluxes, (i) using the toric data and GLSM techniques, we obtain the geometric Kaehler potential for D_5 in terms of genus-two Siegel theta functions; (ii) we show that as the D3-brane moves from a particular embedded non-singular elliptic curve to another one, it is possible to obtain 10^{12}GeV gravitino during the inflationary era as well as a TeV gravitino in the present era, for the same vol(CY)~10^6l_s^6; (iii) by constructing local appropriate involutively-odd harmonic one-form on D_5 that lies in the cokernel of the pullback of the immersion map, we show that it is possible to obtain an O(1) g_{YM} from the wrapping of D7-branes on D_5 due to competing contributions from the Wilson line moduli relative to the divisor volume modulus (to permit gaugino condensation [gc], we consistently consider zero sections of ND_5) - to simplify we restrict the D3-brane to D_5 which means W_gc=0; (iv) we obtain gaugino masses of the order of gravitino mass and the matter fields' masses to be enhanced relative to the gravitino mass; (v) the anomaly-mediated gaugino masses are found to be suppressed relative to the gravity-mediated gaugino masses by the standard loop factor; (vi) new sub-dominant mu-terms are obtained from section of the (small) divisor bundle encoding information about the ED3- instanton fluctuation determinant; (vii) we obtain a (near)universality in the masses, hat(mu), hat(Y) and the hat(mu)B-terms for the D3 position moduli and a hierarchy in the same set and a universality in the A-terms on inclusion of D7 Wilson line moduli.
