Four-wave mixing in spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensates

We describe possibilities of spontaneous, degenerate four-wave mixing (FWM) processes in spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensates. Phase matching conditions (i.e., energy and momentum conservation laws) in such systems allow one to identify four different configurations characterized by involvement of distinct spinor states in which such a process can take place. We derived these conditions from first principles and then illustrated dynamics with direct numerical simulations. We found, among others, the unique configuration, where both probe waves have smaller group velocity than pump wave and proved numerically that it can be observed experimentally under proper choice of the parameters. We also reported the case when two different FWM processes can occur simultaneously. The described resonant interactions of matter waves is expected to play important role in the experiments of BEC with artificial gauge fields. Beams created by FWM processes are important source of correlated particles and can be used the experiments testing quantum properties of atomic ensembles.

A class of compact entities in three component Bose - Einstein condensates

We introduce a new class of soliton-like entities in spinor three component BECs. These entities generalize well known solitons. For special values of coupling constants, the system considered is Completely Integrable and supports $N$ soliton solutions. The one-soliton solutions can be generalized to systems with different values of coupling constants. However, they no longer interact elastically. When two so generalized solitons collide, a spin component oscillation is observed in both emerging entities. We propose to call these newly found entities oscillatons. They propagate without dispersion and retain their character after collisions. We derived an exact mathematical model for oscillatons and showed that the well known one soliton solutions are a particular case.

An extended representation of three spin component Bose Einstein Condensate solitons

We consider a three spin component Bose Einstein Condensate as described by as many coupled nonlinear Schroedinger equations. For a very special ratio of the coupling constants, exact N soliton solutions to this set of equations are known. Here we find a simple representation including the N = 1 solution based on the symmetry of the equations. This symmetry is described by a linear operator, the nonlinearity of NLS notwithstanding. Our useful representation opens the door to the nonintegrable case of general coupling constants. A new class of solutions is found.

Entanglement-based signature of nonlocal dispersion cancellation

We derive an inequality bounding the strength of temporal correlations for a pair of light beams prepared in a separable state and propagating through dispersive media with opposite signs of group velocity dispersion. The presented inequality can be violated by entangled states of light, such as photon pairs produced in spontaneous parametric down-conversion. Because the class of separable states covers the entire category of classical fields as a particular case, this result provides an unambiguously quantum feature of nonlocal dispersion cancellation that cannot be reproduced within the classical theory of electromagnetic radiation.

Oscillating solitons in a three component BEC

We investigate the properties of three component BEC systems with spin exchange interactions. We consider different coupling constants from those leading to exact solutions known in the literature. When two solitons collide, an oscillation of the emerging entities is observed. This behavior seems to be generic. A mathematical model is derived for the emerging solitons. It describes the new oscillatory phenomenon extremely well. Surprisingly, the model is exact as a solution to the initial equations. This comes as a bonus.
