Ground-state energy of a Richardson-Gaudin integrable BCS model

We investigate the ground-state energy of a Richardson-Gaudin integrable BCS model, generalizing the closed and open p+ip models. The Hamiltonian supports a family of mutually commuting conserved operators satisfying quadratic relations. From the eigenvalues of the conserved operators we derive, in the continuum limit, an integral equation for which a solution corresponding to the ground state is established. The energy expression from this solution agrees with the BCS mean-field result.

The $Z_2 \times Z_2$-graded general linear Lie superalgebra

We present a novel realisation of the $\mathbb{Z}_2\times\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(m_1,m_2|n_1,n_2)$ inside an algebraic extension of the enveloping algebra of the $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$, with $m=m_1+m_2$ and $n=n_1+n_2$. A consequence of this realisation is that the representations of $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$ "lift up" to representations of $\mathfrak{gl}(m_1,m_2|n_1,n_2)$, with matrix elements differing only by a sign, which we are able to characterise concisely.

Matrix elements and duality for type 2 unitary representations of the Lie superalgebra gl(m|n)

The characteristic identity formalism discussed in our recent articles is further utilized to derive matrix elements of type 2 unitary irreducible $gl(m|n)$ modules. In particular, we give matrix element formulae for all gl(m|n) generators, including the non-elementary generators, together with their phases on finite dimensional type 2 unitary irreducible representations. Remarkably, we find that the type 2 unitary matrix element equations coincide with the type 1 unitary matrix element equations for non-vanishing matrix elements up to a phase.

On realizations of polynomial algebras with three generators via deformed oscillator algebras

We present the most general polynomial Lie algebra generated by a second order integral of motion and one of order M, construct the Casimir operator, and show how the Jacobi identity provides the existence of a realization in terms of deformed oscillator algebra. We also present the classical analog of this construction for the most general Polynomial Poisson algebra. Two specific classes of such polynomial algebras are discussed that include the symmetry algebras observed for various 2D superintegrable systems.

Exactly Solvable BCS-BEC crossover Hamiltonians

We demonstrate a novel approach that allows the determination of very general classes of exactly solvable Hamiltonians via Bethe ansatz methods. This approach combines aspects of both the co-ordinate Bethe ansatz and algebraic Bethe ansatz. The eigenfunctions are formulated as factorisable operators acting on a suitable reference state. Yet, we require no prior knowledge of transfer matrices or conserved operators. By taking a variational form for the Hamiltonian and eigenstates we obtain general exact solvability conditions. The procedure is conducted in the framework of Hamiltonians describing the crossover between the low-temperature phenomena of superconductivity, in the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) theory, and Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC).

Matrix elements for type 1 unitary irreducible representations of the Lie superalgebra gl(m|n)

Using our recent results on eigenvalues of invariants associated to the Lie superalgebra gl(m|n), we use characteristic identities to derive explicit matrix element formulae for all gl(m|n) generators, particularly non-elementary generators, on finite dimensional type 1 unitary irreducible representations. We compare our results with existing works that deal with only subsets of the class of type 1 unitary representations, all of which only present explicit matrix elements for elementary generators. Our work therefore provides an important extension to existing methods, and thus highlights the strength of our techniques which exploit the characteristic identities.

Highest weight representations and Kac determinants for a class of conformal Galilei algebras with central extension

We investigate the representations of a class of conformal Galilei algebras in one spatial dimension with central extension. This is done by explicitly constructing all singular vectors within the Verma modules, proving their completeness and then deducing irreducibility of the associated highest weight quotient modules. A resulting classification of infinite dimensional irreducible modules is presented. It is also shown that a formula for the Kac determinant is deduced from our construction of singular vectors. Thus we prove a conjecture of Dobrev, Doebner and Mrugalla for the case of the Schrodinger algebra.

Invariants and reduced matrix elements associated with the Lie superalgebra gl(m|n)

We construct explicit formulae for the eigenvalues of certain invariants of the Lie superalgebra gl(m|n) using characteristic identities. We discuss how such eigenvalues are related to reduced Wigner coefficients and the reduced matrix elements of generators, and thus provide a first step to a new algebraic derivation of matrix element formulae for all generators of the algebra.

BEC-BCS crossover in a p+ip-wave pairing Hamiltonian coupled to bosonic molecular pairs

We analyse a p+ip-wave pairing BCS Hamiltonian, coupled to a single bosonic degree of freedom representing a molecular condensate, and investigate the nature of the BEC-BCS crossover for this system. For a suitable restriction on the coupling parameters, we show that the model is integrable and we derive the exact solution by the algebraic Bethe ansatz. In this manner we also obtain explicit formulae for correlation functions and compute these for several cases. We find that the crossover between the BEC state and the strong pairing p+ip phase is smooth for this model, with no intermediate quantum phase transition.
