Finding Linear Dependencies in Integration-By-Parts Equations: A Monte Carlo Approach

The reduction of a large number of scalar integrals to a small set of master integrals via Laporta's algorithm is common practice in multi-loop calculations. It is also a major bottleneck in terms of running time and memory consumption. It involves solving a large set of linear equations where many of the equations are linearly dependent. We propose a simple algorithm that eliminates all linearly dependent equations from a given system, reducing the time and space requirements of a subsequent run of Laporta's algorithm.

Dark Matter Detection in Focus Point Supersymmetry

We determine the prospects for direct and indirect detection of thermal relic neutralinos in supersymmetric theories with multi-TeV squarks and sleptons. We consider the concrete example of the focus point region of minimal supergravity, but our results are generically valid for all models with decoupled scalars and mixed Bino-Higgsino or Higgsino-like dark matter. We determine the parameter space consistent with a 125 GeV Higgs boson including 3-loop corrections in the calculation of the Higgs mass. These corrections increase m_h by 1-3 GeV, lowering the preferred scalar mass scale and decreasing the fine-tuning measure in these scenarios. We then systematically examine prospects for dark matter direct and indirect detection. Direct detection constraints do not exclude these models, especially for μ< 0. At the same time, the scenario generically predicts spin-independent signals just beyond current bounds. We also consider indirect detection with neutrinos, gamma rays, anti-protons, and anti-deuterons. Current IceCube neutrino constraints are competitive with direct detection, implying bright prospects for complementary searches with both direct and indirect detection.

Three-Loop Corrections to the Higgs Boson Mass and Implications for Supersymmetry at the LHC

In supersymmetric models with minimal particle content and without left-right squark mixing, the conventional wisdom is that the 125.6 GeV Higgs boson mass implies top squark masses of O(10) TeV, far beyond the reach of colliders. This conclusion is subject to significant theoretical uncertainties, however, and we provide evidence that it may be far too pessimistic. We evaluate the Higgs boson mass, including the dominant three-loop terms at O(α_t α_s^2), in currently viable models. For multi-TeV stops, the three-loop corrections can increase the Higgs boson mass by as much as 3 GeV and lower the required stop mass to 3 to 4 TeV, greatly improving prospects for supersymmetry discovery at the upcoming run of the LHC and its high-luminosity upgrade.

Three-Loop Calculation of the Higgs Boson Mass in Supersymmetry

A Key feature of the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) is the existence of a light Higgs boson, the mass of which is not a free parameter but an observable that can be predicted from the theory. Given that the LHC is able to measure the mass of a light Higgs with very good accuracy, a lot of effort has been put into a precise theoretical prediction. We present a calculation of the SUSY-QCD corrections to this observable to three-loop order. We perform multiple asymptotic expansions in order to deal with the multi-scale three-loop diagrams, making heavy use of computer algebra and keeping a keen eye on the numerical error introduced. We provide a computer code in the form of a Mathematica package that combines our three-loop SUSY-QCD calculation with the literature of one- and two-loop corrections to the Higgs mass, providing a state-of-the-art prediction for this important observable.

Three-loop corrections to the mass of the light Higgs boson in the MSSM

The Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) predicts the existence of a light neutral Higgs boson. Once found at the LHC, its mass will immediately become a precision observable. The theoretical value of the Higgs mass Mh is subject to large radiative corrections. Due to the large top Yukawa coupling, loops of top quarks and their superpartners provide the dominant contribution to the radiative corrections. We present a calculation of the SUSY-QCD corrections to these diagrams, up to the three-loop order. We find that our three-loop results can be in the range of one GeV, and are thus relevant when compared with the expected experimental accuracy at the LHC. We also find a significantly reduced dependency on the renormalisation prescription, thus decreasing the theoretical uncertainty of the prediction of Mh.

Three-Loop Predictions for the Light Higgs Mass in the MSSM

The Minimal Supersymmetric Extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) features a light Higgs boson, the mass Mh of which is predicted by the theory. Given that the LHC will be able to measure the mass of a light Higgs with great accuracy, a precise theoretical calculation of Mh yields an important test of the MSSM. In order to deliver this precision, we present three-loop radiative corrections of O(alpha_t*alpha_s^2) and provide a computer code that combines our results with corrections to Mh at lower loop orders that are available in the literature.

Higgs production and decay: Analytic results at next-to-leading order QCD

The virtual two-loop corrections for Higgs production in gluon fusion are calculated analytically in QCD for arbitrary Higgs and quark masses. Both scalar and pseudo-scalar Higgs bosons are considered. The results are obtained by expanding the known one-dimensional integral representation in terms of m_H/m_q, and matching it with a suitably chosen ansatz of Harmonic Polylogarithms. This ansatz is motivated by the known analytic result for the Higgs decay rate into two photons. The method also allows us to check this result and to extend it to the pseudo-scalar decay rate.
