Rings Whose Clean and Nil-Clean Elements Have Some Clean-Like Properties

We define two types of rings, namely the so-called CSNC and NCUC that are those rings whose clean elements are strongly nil-clean, respectively, whose nil-clean elements are uniquely clean. Our results obtained in this paper somewhat expand these obtained by Calugareanu-Zhou in Mediterr. J. Math. (2023) and by Cui-Danchev-Jin in Publ. Math. Debrecen (2024), respectively.

Rings Whose Clean Elements Are Uniquely Strongly Clean

We define the class of {\it CUSC} rings, that are those rings whose clean elements are uniquely strongly clean. These rings are a common generalization of the so-called {\it USC} rings, introduced by Chen-Wang-Zhou in J. Pure \& Applied Algebra (2009), which are rings whose elements are uniquely strongly clean. These rings also generalize the so-called {\it CUC} rings, defined by Calugareanu-Zhou in Mediterranean J. Math. (2023), which are rings whose clean elements are uniquely clean. We establish that a ring is USC if, and only if, it is simultaneously CUSC and potent. Some other interesting relationships with CUC rings are obtained as well.

Rings Whose Non-Invertible Elements Are Uniquely Strongly Clean

We define and explore in details the class of GUSC rings, that are those rings whose non-invertible elements are uniquely strongly clean. These rings are a common generalization of the so-called USC rings, introduced by Chen-Wang-Zhou in J. Pure & Appl. Algebra (2009), which are rings whose elements are uniquely strongly clean. These rings also generalize the so-called GUC rings, defined by Guo-Jiang in Bull. Transilvania Univ. Braşov (2023), which are rings whose non-invertible elements are uniquely clean.

Companion Weakly Periodic Matrices over Finite and Countable Fields

We explore the situation where all companion $n \times n$ matrices over a field $F$ are weakly periodic of index of nilpotence $2$ and prove that this can be happen uniquely when $F$ is a countable field of positive characteristic, which is an algebraic extension of its minimal simple (finite) subfield, with all subfields of order greater than $n$. In particular, in the commuting case, we show even that $F$ is a finite field of order greater than $n$. Our obtained results somewhat generalize those obtained by Breaz-Modoi in Lin. Algebra & Appl. (2016).

Decompositions of Matrices into Potent and Square-Zero Matrices

In order to find a suitable expression of an arbitrary square matrix over an arbitrary finite commutative ring, we prove that every such a matrix is always representable as a sum of a potent matrix and a nilpotent matrix of order at most two when the Jacobson radical of the ring has zero-square. This somewhat extends results of ours in Lin. & Multilin. Algebra (2021) established for matrices considered on arbitrary fields. Our main theorem also improves on recent results due to Abyzov et al. in Mat. Zametki (2017), Šter in Lin. Algebra & Appl. (2018) and Shitov in Indag. Math. (2019).

Generalizing pi-regular rings

We introduce the class weakly nil clean rings, as rings R in which for every a\in R there exist an idempotent e and a nilpotent q such that a-e-q\in eRa. Every weakly nil clean ring is exchange. Weakly nil clean rings contain pi-regular rings as a proper subclass, and these two classes coincide in the case of central idempotents. Every weakly nil clean ring of bounded index and every weakly nil clean PI-ring is strongly pi-regular. The center of a weakly nil clean ring is strongly pi-regular, and consequently, every weakly nil clean ring is a corner of a clean ring. These results extend Azumaya [3], McCoy [24], and the second author [33] to a wider class of rings and provide partial answers to some open questions in [13] and [33]. Some other properties are also studied and several examples are given.

Rings in which every element is either a sum or a difference of a nilpotent and an idempotent

{Generalizing the notion of nil cleanness from \cite{D13}, in parallel to \cite{DM14}, we define the concept of {\it weak nil cleanness} for an arbitrary ring. Its comprehensive study in different ways is provided as well. A decomposition theorem of a weakly nil-clean ring is obtained. It is completely characterized when an abelian ring is {\it weakly nil-clean}.} It is also completely determined when a matrix ring over a division ring is weakly nil-clean.
