Light Dark Matter Axion Detection with Static Electric Field

We explore the axionic dark matter search sensitivity with a narrow-band detection scheme aiming at the axion-photon conversion by the static electric field inside a cylindrical capacitor. An alternating magnetic field signal is induced by effective currents as the axion dark matter flows perpendicularly through the electric field. At low axion masses, like in a KKLT scenario, front-end narrow band filtering is provided by using LC resonance with a high $Q$ factor, which enhances the detectability of the tiny magnetic field signal and also leads to a thermal noise as the major background that can be reduced at cryogenic conditions. We demonstrate that high $g_{aγ}$ sensitivity can be achieved by using a strong electric field. The QCD axion theoretical parameter space can be reached with high $E\sim$ GVm$^{-1}$ field strength. Using the static electric field scheme essentially avoids exposing the sensitive superconducting pickup to an applied laboratory magnetic field.

Design and test of frequency tuner for CAEP high power THz free-electron laser

Peking University is developing a 1.3 GHz superconducting accelerating section for China Academy of Engineering Physics (CAEP) high power THz free-electron laser. A compact fast/slow tuner has developed by Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) for the accelerating section, to control Lorentz detuning, beam loading effect, compensate for microphonics and liquid Helium pressure fluctuations. The tuner design, warm test and cold test of the first prototype are presented.

Design of a 325MHz Beta=0.12 superconducting single spoke cavity for China-ADS

Twelve superconducting single spoke cavities whose Beta is 0.12 (Spoke012) operating at 325MHz, are adopted in Injector I for China-ADS linac. This type of spoke cavity is believed to be one of the key challenges for its very low geometry Beta. So far, the prototype cavity has been designed, fabricated and tested successfully. The design work was finished by using CST-MWS and ANSYS software for the RF and mechanical properties optimization. This paper presents the details of the final design for Spoke012 prototype cavity.
