Plabic links, quivers, and skein relations

We study relations between cluster algebra invariants and link invariants. First, we show that several constructions of positroid links (permutation links, Richardson links, grid diagram links, plabic graph links) give rise to isotopic links. For a subclass of permutations arising from concave curves, we also provide isotopies with the corresponding Coxeter links. Second, we associate a point count polynomial to an arbitrary locally acyclic quiver. We conjecture an equality between the top $a$-degree coefficient of the HOMFLY polynomial of a plabic graph link and the point count polynomial of its planar dual quiver. We prove this conjecture for leaf recurrent plabic graphs, which includes reduced plabic graphs and plabic fences as special cases.

Rational Noncrossing Coxeter-Catalan Combinatorics

We solve two open problems in Coxeter-Catalan combinatorics. First, we introduce a family of rational noncrossing objects for any finite Coxeter group, using the combinatorics of distinguished subwords. Second, we give a type-uniform proof that these noncrossing Catalan objects are counted by the rational Coxeter-Catalan number, using the character theory of the associated Hecke algebra and the properties of Lusztig's exotic Fourier transform. We solve the same problems for rational noncrossing parking objects.

Root system chip-firing II: Central-firing

Jim Propp recently proposed a labeled version of chip-firing on a line and conjectured that this process is confluent from some initial configurations. This was proved by Hopkins-McConville-Propp. We reinterpret Propp's labeled chip-firing moves in terms of root systems: a "central-firing" move consists of replacing a weight $λ$ by $λ+α$ for any positive root $α$ that is orthogonal to $λ$. We show that central-firing is always confluent from any initial weight after modding out by the Weyl group, giving a generalization of unlabeled chip-firing on a line to other types. For simply-laced root systems we describe this unlabeled chip-firing as a number game on the Dynkin diagram. We also offer a conjectural classification of when central-firing is confluent from the origin or a fundamental weight.

Extensions of isometric embeddings of Pseudo-Euclidean metric polyhedra

We extend the results of B. Minemyer by showing that any indefinite metric polyhedron (either compact or not) with the vertex degree bounded from above admits an isometric simplicial embedding into a Minkowski space of the lowest possible dimension. We provide a simple algorithm of constructing such embeddings. We also show that every partial simplicial isometric embedding of such space in general position extends to a simplicial isometric embedding of the whole space.

Existence of a persistent hub in the convex preferential attachment model

A vertex of a randomly growing graph is called a persistent hub if at all but finitely many moments of time it has the maximal degree in the graph. We establish the existence of a persistent hub in the Barabási--Albert random graph model with probability one. We also extend this result to the class of convex preferential attachment graphs, where a vertex of degree $k$ gets a new edge with probability proportional to some convex function of $k$.

Simple game induced manifolds

Starting by a simple game $Q $ as a combinatorial data, we build up a cell complex $M(Q)$, whose construction resembles combinatorics of the permutohedron. The cell complex proves to be a combinatorial manifold; we call it the \textit{ simple game induced manifold.} By some motivations coming from polygonal linkages, we think of $Q$ and of $M(Q)$ as of\textit{ a quasilinkage} and the \textit{moduli space of the quasilinkage} respectively. We present some examples of quasilinkages and show that the moduli space retains many properties of moduli space of polygonal linkages. In particular, we show that the moduli space $M(Q)$ is homeomorphic to the space of stable point configurations on $S^1$, for an associated with a quasilinkage notion of stability.
