It's a dark, dark world: Background evolution of interacting $ϕ$CDM models beyond simple exponential potentials

We study the background cosmological dynamics with a three component source content: a radiation fluid, a barotropic fluid to mimic the matter sector and a single scalar field which can act as dark energy giving rise to the late-time accelerated phase. Using the well-known dimensionless variables, we cast the dynamical equations into an autonomous system of ordinary differential equations (ASODE), which are studied by computing the fixed points and the conditions for their stability. The matter fluid and the scalar field are taken to be uncoupled at first and later, we consider a coupling between the two of the form $Q = \sqrt{2/3}κβρ_m\dotϕ$ where $ρ_m$ is the barotropic fluid density. The key point of our analysis is that for the closure of ASODE, we only demand that the jerk, $Γ= V V"/V'^2$ is a function of acceleration, $z = - M_p V'/ V$, that is, $Γ= 1+ f(z)$. In this way, we are able to accommodate a large class of potentials that goes beyond the simple exponential potentials. The analysis is completely generic and \emph{independent} of the form of the potential for the scalar field. As an illustration and confirmation of the analysis, we consider $f(z)$ of the forms $μ/z^2$, $μ/z$, $(μ-z)/z^2$ and $(μ-z)$ to numerically compute the evolution of cosmological parameters with and without coupling. Implications of the approach and the results are discussed.

Andriod Based Punjabi TTS System

The usage of mobile phones is nearly 3.5 times more than that of personal computers. Android has the largest share among its counter parts like IOS, Windows and Symbian Android applications have a very few restrictions on them. TTS systems on Android are available for many languages but a very few systems of this type are available for Punjabi language. Our research work had the aim to develop an application that will be able to produce synthetic Punjabi speech. The paper examines the methodology used to develop speech synthesis TTS system for the Punjabi content, which is written in Gurmukhi script. For the development of this system, we use concatenative speech synthesis method with phonemes as the basic units of concatenation. Some challenges like application size, processing time, must be considered, while porting this TTS system to resource-limited devices like mobile phones.

Constraints on Lepton Asymmetry from Nucleosynthesis in a Linearly Coasting Cosmology

We study the effect of neutrino degeneracy on primordial nucleosynthesis in a universe in which the cosmological scale factor evolves linearly with time. The degeneracy parameter of electron type neutrinos ($ξ_e$) determines the $n/p$ (neutron to proton) ratio, which in turn determines the abundance of $^4$He in a manner quite distinct from the Standard Scenario. The observed abundances of $^4$He, $\mathrm{Y}_P$=0.254$\pm$0.003, and the minimum metallicity that is essential for fragmentation and cooling processes in star forming prestellar gas clouds (Z = Z$_{cr}$ = 10$^{-6}$Z$_\odot$), constrain the baryon to photon ratio, $η_B$=(3.927$\pm$0.292)10$^{-9}$, corresponding to a baryonic matter density, $Ω_B$=0.263$\pm$ 0.026 and $ξ_e$=-2.165$\pm$0.171. This closes the dynamic mass estimates of matter in the universe by baryons alone. Useful byproducts are the threshold X(CNO) abundances required to trigger the CNO cycle in the observed low metallicity stars in the universe.
