Phase operator on $L^2(\mathbb{Q}_p)$ and the zeroes of Fisher and Riemann

The distribution of the non-trivial zeroes of the Riemann zeta function, according to the Riemann hypothesis, is tantalisingly similar to the zeroes of the partition functions (Fisher and Yang-Lee zeroes) of statistical mechanical models studied by physicists. The resolvent function of an operator akin to the phase operator, conjugate to the number operator in quantum mechanics, turns out to be important in this approach. The generalised Vladimirov derivative acting on the space $L^2(\mathbb{Q}_p)$ of complex valued locally constant functions on the $p$-adic field is rather similar to the number operator. We show that a `phase operator' conjugate to it can be constructed on a subspace $L^2(p^{-1}\mathbb{Z}_p)$ of $L^2(\mathbb{Q}_p)$. We discuss (at physicists' level of rigour) how to combine this for all primes to possibly relate to the zeroes of the Riemann zeta function. Finally, we extend these results to the family of Dirichlet $L$-functions, using our recent construction of Vladimirov derivative like pseudodifferential operators associated with the Dirichlet characters.

Matrix Model for Riemann Zeta via its Local Factors

We propose the construction of an ensemble of unitary random matrices (UMM) for the Riemann zeta function. Our approach to this problem is `$p$-iecemeal', in the sense that we consider each factor in the Euler product representation of the zeta function to first construct a UMM for each prime $p$. We are able to use its phase space description to write the partition function as the trace of an operator that acts on a subspace of square-integrable functions on the $p$-adic field. This suggests a Berry-Keating type Hamiltonian. We combine the data from all primes to propose a Hamiltonian and a matrix model for the Riemann zeta function.

Phase Space Distribution for Two-Gap Solution in Unitary Matrix Model

We analyze the dynamics of weakly coupled finite temperature $U(N)$ gauge theories on $S^3$ by studying a class of effective unitary matrix model. Solving Dyson-Schwinger equation at large $N$, we find that different phases of gauge theories are characterized by gaps in eigenvalue distribution over a unit circle. In particular, we obtain no-gap, one-gap and two-gap solutions at large $N$ for a class of matrix model we are considering. The same effective matrix model can equivalently be written as a sum over representations (or Young diagrams) of unitary group. We show that at large $N$, Young diagrams corresponding to different phases can be classified in terms of discontinuities in number of boxes in two consecutive rows. More precisely, the representation, where there is no discontinuity, corresponds to no-gap and one-gap solution, where as, a diagram with one discontinuity corresponds to two-gap phase, mentioned above. This observation allows us to write a one to one relation between eigenvalue distribution function and Young tableaux distribution function for each saddle point, in particular for two-gap solution. We find that all the saddle points can be described in terms of free fermions with a phase space distribution for no-gap, one-gap and two-gap phases.

Schwinger-Dyson approach to Liouville Field Theory

We discuss Liouville field theory in the framework of Schwinger-Dyson approach and derive a functional equation for the three-point structure constant. We argue the existence of a second Schwinger-Dyson equation on the basis of the duality between the screening charge operators and obtain a second functional equation for the structure constant. We discuss the utility of the two functional equations to fix the structure constant uniquely.

Some insights in the structure of correlation functions in Liouville and Toda field theories

We discuss some aspects of Liouville field theory, starting from operator equation of motion in presence of two screening charges and re-derive the dual zero mode Schwinger Dyson equations for the two screening charges from the path integral. Using functional methods we show the familiar pole structure of Liouville correlation function using the partition function. Next we discuss a generalized structure of the correlation functions obtained from the zero mode functional equations. From this structure we infer the use of the Barnes double Gamma functions to construct a part of the denominator of the correlators and also use Weyl symmetry of the theory to deduce more information about the rest. We similarly extend these arguments in the case of Toda field theories where we make a general statement about the denominator of the three point function and Sine-Liouvile field theory where we only obtain an infinite product structure.

Variation of the gas and radiation content in the sub-Keplerian accretion disk around black holes and its impact to the solutions

We investigate the variation of the gas and the radiation pressure in accretion disks during the infall of matter to the black hole and its effect to the flow. While the flow far away from the black hole might be non-relativistic, in the vicinity of the black hole it is expected to be relativistic behaving more like radiation. Therefore, the ratio of gas pressure to total pressure (beta) and the underlying polytropic index (gamma) should not be constant throughout the flow. We obtain that accretion flows exhibit significant variation of beta and then gamma, which affects solutions described in the standard literature based on constant beta. Certain solutions for a particular set of initial parameters with a constant beta do not exist when the variation of beta is incorporated appropriately. We model the viscous sub-Keplerian accretion disk with a nonzero component of advection and pressure gradient around black holes by preserving the conservations of mass, momentum, energy, supplemented by the evolution of beta. By solving the set of five coupled differential equations, we obtain the thermo-hydrodynamical properties of the flow. We show that during infall, beta of the flow could vary upto ~300%, while gamma upto ~20%. This might have a significant impact to the disk solutions in explaining observed data, e.g. super-luminal jets from disks, luminosity, and then extracting fundamental properties from them. Hence any conclusion based on constant gamma and beta should be taken with caution and corrected.
