Violation of Bell Monogamy Relations

The entangled multipartite systems, specially in pure states, exhibit the phenomenon entanglement monogamy. Such systems also display the phenomenon of Bell nonlocality. Like entanglement monogamy relations, there are Bell monogamy relations. These relations suggest a sharing of nonlocality across the subsystems. The nonlocality, as characterized by Bell inequalities, of one subsystem limits the nonlocality exhibited by another subsystem. We show that the Bell monogamy relations can be violated by using local filtering operations. We consider permutation-symmetric multipartite pure states, in particular $W$ states, to demonstrate the violation.

Deterministic distribution of W-class states in quantum networks

Multipartite entangled states possess a number of non-intuitive properties, making them a useful resource for various quantum information-processing tasks. The three-qubit W-state is one such example where every state is robust to single-qubit loss. However, this state is not suitable for deterministic distribution, and deterministic communication protocols. Here, we focus on the distribution of a non-symmetric version of such states, namely $W_{\mathrm{mod}}$ states. These states belong to the W-class, and have one ebit of entanglement across a specific bipartition, enabling deterministic teleportation and superdense coding. In particular, we describe a few protocols through which these multipartite entangled states can be distributed {\it deterministically} in a quantum network by first preparing them locally in a central node and then transmitting individual qubits to the end nodes. We analyse the performance of these protocols based on the fidelity of the final distributed state, considering all types of noises that can act during the distribution. Finally, we compare the performance of the protocols to the case where the distribution is performed without any central node.

Inferred-variance uncertainty relations in the presence of quantum entanglement

Uncertainty relations play a significant role in drawing a line between classical physics and quantum physics. Since the introduction by Heisenberg, these relations have been considerably explored. However, the effect of quantum entanglement on uncertainty relations was not probed. Berta et al. [Nature Physics 6, 659-662 (2010)] removed this gap by deriving a conditional-entropic uncertainty relation in the presence of quantum entanglement. In the same spirit, using inferred-variance, we formulate uncertainty relations in the presence of entanglement for general two-qubit systems and arbitrary observables. We derive lower bounds for the sum and product inferred-variance uncertainty relations. Strikingly, we can write the lower bounds of these inferred-variance uncertainty relations in terms of measures of entanglement of two-qubit states, as characterized by concurrence, or $G$ function. Presumably, the presence of entanglement in the lower bound of inferred-variance uncertainty relation is new and unique. We also explore the violation of local uncertainty relations in this context and an interference experiment. Furthermore, we discuss possible applications of these uncertainty relations.

Determining the Shape of Higgs Potential at Future Colliders

Although the Higgs boson has been discovered, its self-couplings are poorly constrained. This leaves the nature of the Higgs boson undetermined. Motivated by different Higgs potential scenarios other than the Landau-Ginzburg type in the standard model, we systematically organize various new physics scenarios -- elementary Higgs, Nambu-Goldstone Higgs, Coleman-Weinberg Higgs, and Tadpole-induced Higgs, etc. We find that double-Higgs production at the 27 TeV high energy LHC can be used to discriminate different Higgs potential scenarios, while it is necessary to use triple-Higgs production at a future 100 TeV proton-proton collider to fully determine the shape of the Higgs potential.

Resource state structure for controlled quantum key distribution

Quantum entanglement plays a pivotal role in many communication protocols, like secret sharing and quantum cryptography. We consider a scenario where more than two parties are involved in a protocol and share a multipartite entangled state. In particular, we considered the protocol of Controlled Quantum Key Distribution (CoQKD), introduced in the Ref. Chin. Phys. Lett. 20, 183-185 (2003), where, two parties, Alice and Bob establish a key with the cooperation of other parties. Other parties control/supervise whether Alice and Bob can establish the key, its security and key rate. We discuss the case of three parties in detail and find suitable resource states. We discuss the controlling power of the third party, Charlie. We also examine the usefulness of the new resource states for generating conference key and for cooperative teleportation. We find that recently introduced Bell inequalities can be useful to establish the security of the conference key. We also generalize the scenario to more than three parties.

Gluon fusion contribution to $HBB$ ($B = H,γ, Z$) at the LHC

We have calculated one-loop amplitudes for the production of Higgs boson in association with two electroweak bosons ($H,γ,Z$) via gluon-gluon fusion. We present preliminary results for the total cross section at 8, 13 and 100 TeV center-of-mass energies at $pp$ colliders. We study the interference effect and, also comment on the effect of new physics in terms of anomalous couplings of the Higgs boson in these processes.

Local, nonlocal quantumness and information theoretic measures

It has been suggested that there may exist quantum correlations that go beyond entanglement. The existence of such correlations can be revealed by quantum discord, but not by the conventional measure of entanglement. We argue that a state displays quantumness that can be of local and nonlocal origin. The physical quantity such as the quantum discord probes not only the nonlocal quantumness but also the local quantumness, such as the "local superposition". This can be a reason why such measures are non-zero when there is no entanglement. We consider a generalized version of the Werner state to demonstrate the interplay of local quantumness, nonlocal quantumness, and classical mixedness of a state.

CTC assisted PR box type correlation can lead to signaling

It is known that there exist non-local correlations that respect no-signaling criterion, but violate Bell-type inequalities more than quantum-mechanical correlations. Such super quantum correlations were introduced as the Popescu-Rohrlich (PR) box. We consider such non-local boxes with two/three inputs and two/three outputs. We show that these super quantum correlations can lead to signaling when at least one of the input bit has access to a word line along a closed time-like curve.

Dilepton Signatures of the Higgs Boson with Tau-jet Tagging

We consider the process $p p \to t {\bar t} H$. This process can give rise to many signatures of the Higgs boson. The signatures can have electrons, muons and jets. We consider the signatures that have two electrons/muons and jets. Tagging of a tau jet and a bottom jet can help reduce the backgrounds significantly. In particular, we examine the usefulness of the signatures "isolated 2 electrons/muons + a bottom jet + a tau jet", "isolated 2 electrons/muons + 2 tau jets", "isolated 2 electrons/muons + 2 bottom jets + a tau jet", and "isolated 2 electrons/muons + a bottom jet + 2 tau jets". We find that signatures with two tau jets are useful. The signatures with one tau jet are also useful, if we restrict to same-sign electrons/muons. These requirements reduce the backgrounds due the process with Z-bosons + jets and the production of a pair of top quarks. We show that these signatures may be visible in the run II of the Large Hadron Collider.

Effect of Anomalous Couplings on the Associated Production of a Single Top Quark and a Higgs Boson at the LHC

We consider the production of a single top quark in association with a Higgs boson at the LHC. In particular, we compute the cross sections for the processes $ p p \to t h j$, $t h b$, $t h W$, $t h j j$, $t h j b$, $t h W j$, $t h W b$ in the presence of the anomalous $Wtb, WWh$ and $tth$ couplings. We find that the anomalous $Wtb$ and $tth$ couplings can enhance the cross sections significantly. We also analyze a few signatures and show that, if these couplings are indeed anomalous, then with enough data, one should be able to observe the production of the Higgs boson in association with single top quark.

Generalized form of optimal teleportation witnesses

We propose a generalized form of optimal teleportation witness to demonstrate their importance in experimental detection of the larger set of entangled states useful for teleportation in higher dimensional systems. The interesting properties of our witness reveal that teleportation witness can be used to characterize mixed state entanglement using Schmidt numbers. Our results show that while every teleportation witness is also a entanglement witness, the converse is not true. Also, we show that a hermitian operator is a teleportation witness iff it is a decomposable entanglement witness. In addition, we analyze the practical significance of our study by decomposing our teleportation witness in terms of Pauli and Gell-Mann matrices, which are experimentally measurable quantities.

Multilepton Signatures of the Higgs Boson through its Production in Association with a Top-quark Pair

We consider the possible production of the Higgs Boson in association with a top-quark pair and its subsequent decay into a tau-lepton pair or a W-boson pair. This process can give rise to many signatures of the Higgs boson. These signatures can have electrons, muons, tau jets, bottom jets and/or light flavour jets. We analyze the viability of some of these signatures. We will look at those signatures where the background is minimal. In particular, we explore the viability of the signatures "isolated 4 electron/muon" and "isolated 3 electron/muon + a jet" The jet can be due to a light flavour quark/gluon, a bottom quark, or a tau lepton. Of all these signatures, we find that "isolated 3 electron/muon + a tau jet", with an extra bottom jet, can be an excellent signature of this mode of the Higgs boson production. We show that this signature may be visible within a year, once the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) restarts. Some of the other signatures would also be observable after the LHC accumulates sufficient luminosity.

Production of $γZ g$ and associated processes via gluon fusion at hadron colliders

We present results for the process $gg \to γZ g$ within the standard model at hadron colliders. Due to large gluon flux at the LHC and the proposed HE-LHC, this process can have significant cross section at these machines. Several thousand such events have already been produced at the LHC according to the standard model predictions. This process can also be a background to new physics signals. We discuss some of the important features of this process related to the structure of its amplitude. We also compute the total cross section at the hadron colliders and give some important kinematic distributions. A comparison of our results is made with the corresponding NLO calculation using MCFM program. We briefly discuss the production of $γγg $ and $γγZ$ via gluon fusion. The amplitude of these processes are closely related to the $gg \toγZ g$ amplitude.

Associated Production of a KK-Graviton with a Higgs Boson via Gluon Fusion at the LHC

In order to solve the hierarchy problem, several extra-dimensional models have received considerable attention. We have considered a process where a Higgs boson is produced in association with a KK-graviton ($G_{\rm KK}$) at the LHC. At the leading order, this process occurs through gluon fusion mechanism $gg \to h G_{\rm KK}$ via a quark loop. We compute the cross section and examine some features of this process in the ADD model. We find that the quark in the loop does not decouple in the large quark-mass limit just as in the case of $gg\to h$ process. We compute the cross section of this process for the case of the RS model also. We examine the feasibility of this process being observed at the LHC.

Di-Vector Boson + Jet Production via Gluon Fusion at Hadron Colliders

We study the production of two electro-weak vector bosons in association with a jet via gluon fusion. In particular we consider the production of $γZg$, $ZZg$ and $W^{+}W^{-}g$ at hadron colliders and compute their cross-sections. Such processes have already produced large number of events at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) by now. These processes can be background to the Higgs boson production and a number of beyond the standard model scenarios. Therefore it is important to know the values of their contribution. The calculation is based on conventional Feynman diagram approach. In particular we find that the process $g g \to Z Z g$ can make a significant contribution to the process $p p \to Z Z + {\rm jet}$.

Multi Vector Boson Production via Gluon Fusion at the LHC

At the LHC, the processes with several particles in the final state occur routinely. These processes provide a new domain to test the Standard Model of particle physics. Due to large gluon luminosity at the LHC, gluon initiated processes will be quite important. We study the production of multi-vector bosons via gluon fusion. In particular we consider the process $ g g \to g γZ $ and compute its cross-section at hadron colliders.

Locally Unextendible Non-Maximally Entangled Basis

We introduce the concept of the locally unextendible non-maximally entangled basis (LUNMEB) in $H^d \bigotimes H^d$. It is shown that such a basis consists of $d$ orthogonal vectors for a non-maximally entangled state. However, there can be a maximum of $(d-1)^2$ orthogonal vectors for non-maximally entangled state if it is maximally entangled in $(d-1)$ dimensional subspace. Such a basis plays an important role in determining the number of classical bits that one can send in a superdense coding protocol using a non-maximally entangled state as a resource. By constructing appropriate POVM operators, we find that the number of classical bits one can transmit using a non-maximally entangled state as a resource is $(1+p_0\frac{d}{d-1})\log d$, where $p_0$ is the smallest Schmidt coefficient. However, when the state is maximally entangled in its subspace then one can send up to $2\log (d-1) $ bits. We also find that for $d= 3$, former may be more suitable for the superdense coding.

Probabilistic Secret Sharing Through Noisy Quantum Channels

In a realistic situation, the secret sharing of classical or quantum information will involve the transmission of this information through noisy channels. We consider a three qubit pure state. This state becomes a mixed-state when the qubits are distributed over noisy channels. We focus on a specific noisy channel, the phase-damping channel. We propose a protocol for secret sharing of classical information with this and related noisy channels. This protocol can also be thought of as cooperative superdense coding. We also discuss other noisy channels to examine the possibility of secret sharing of classical information.

Production of a KK-graviton and a Vector Boson in ADD Model via Gluon fusion

In the models with large extra-dimensions, we examine the production of a vector boson (γ/ Z) in association with the Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes of the graviton via gluon fusion. At the leading order, the process takes place through quark-loop box and triangle diagrams and it is ultraviolate finite. We report the results for the LHC. We also discuss the issues of anomaly and decoupling of heavy quarks in the amplitude.

Production of a KK-graviton in association with a boson via gluon fusion at the LHC

We discuss the processes where a KK-graviton ($G$) of the extra-dimensional models is produced in association with a color singlet boson via gluon fusion at the LHC. In particular, we consider the processes $gg \to h G$, $γG$, $Z G$. These processes occur at one-loop through box and triangle diagrams. The cross-section for the process $gg \to γG$ vanishes at the one-loop level. It can be understood by introducing the charge conjugation transformations of the KK-graviton. The processes $gg \to h G$, $Z G$ can be observed at the LHC if the KK-graviton and the Higgs boson exist with appropriate properties.

Quantum Dissension: Generalizing Quantum Discord for Three-Qubit States

We introduce the notion of quantum dissension for a three-qubit system as a measure of quantum correlations. We use three equivalent expressions of three-variable mutual information. Their differences can be zero classically but not so in quantum domain. It generalizes the notion of quantum discord to a multipartite system. There can be multiple definitions of the dissension depending on the nature of projective measurements done on the subsystems. As an illustration, we explore the consequences of these multiple definitions and compare them for three-qubit pure and mixed GHZ and W states. We find that unlike discord, dissension can be negative. This is because measurement on a subsystem may enhance the correlations in the rest of the system. This approach can pave a way to generalize the notion of quantum correlations in the multiparticle setting.

Purification of Mixed State with Closed Timelike Curve is not Possible

In ordinary quantum theory any mixed state can be purified in an enlarged Hilbert space by bringing an ancillary system. The purified state does not depend on the state of any extraneous system with which the mixed state is going to interact and on the physical interaction. Here, we prove that it is not possible to purify a mixed state that traverses a closed time like curve (CTC) and allowed to interact in a consistent way with a causality-respecting (CR) quantum system in the same manner. Thus, in general for arbitrary interactions between CR and CTC systems there is no universal 'Church of the larger Hilbert space' for mixed states with CTC. This shows that in quantum theory with CTCs there can exist 'proper' and 'improper' mixtures.

Perfect Teleportation and Superdense Coding With W-States

True tripartite entanglement of the state of a system of three qubits can be classified on the basis of stochastic local operations and classical communications (SLOCC). Such states can be classified in two categories: GHZ states and W-states. It is known that GHZ states can be used for teleportation and superdense coding, but the prototype W-state cannot be. However, we show that there is a class of W-states that can be used for perfect teleportation and superdense coding.

Prospects of Discovering the Higgs Boson at the Tevatron

We carry out an event generator based study to evaluate the usefulness of the the exclusive signature ``$e^\pm (μ^\pm) + 2$ bottom jets'' in discovering the Higgs boson at the Tevatron. Using an event generator, we show that with enough luminosity, one should be able to detect the Higgs boson up to the mass of about 130 GeV. We consider a slightly modified version of the above signature that includes one extra jet. This new signature is more useful because it increases the number of signal events significantly.

Leptoquark Contribution to the Higgs Boson Production at the LHC Collider

In this report we study how a light-scalar leptoquark could affect the Higgs boson production cross-section at the LHC collider. We construct the most general renormalizable and gauge invariant effective Lagrangian involving the standard model particles and a scalar, isoscalar leptoquark, η. The total cross-section for pp -> H+X is then calculated for different values of the unknown parameters λ_eta, m_eta and m_H.(Here λ_eta is the coupling associated with the Higgs-leptoquark interaction.) We find that if λ_eta is moderately large and m_eta is around a few hundred GeV, then the cross-section is significantly larger than the standard model value.
