Dynamics of Entanglement and Nonclassical Correlation for Four-Qubit GHZ State

Many-qubit entanglement is crucial for quantum information processing although its exploitation is hindered by the detrimental effects of the environment surrounding the many-qubit system. It is thus of importance to study the dynamics of general multipartite nonclassical correlation, including but not restricted to entanglement, under noise. We did this study for four-qubit GHZ state under most common noises in an experiment and found that nonclassical correlation is more robust than entanglement except when it is imposed to dephasing channel. Quantum discord presents a sudden transition in its dynamics for Pauli-X and Pauli-Y noises as well as Bell-diagonal states interacting with dephasing reservoirs and it decays monotonically for Pauli-Z and isotropic noises.

Generalized uncertainty principle and thermostatistics: a semiclassical approach

We present an exact treatment of the thermodynamics of physical systems in the framework of the generalized uncertainty principle (GUP). Our purpose is to study and compare the consequences of two GUPs that one implies a minimal length while the other predicts a minimal length and a maximal momentum. Using a semiclassical method, we exactly calculate the modified internal energies and heat capacities in the presence of generalized commutation relations. We show that the total shift in these quantities only depends on the deformed algebra not on the system under study. Finally, the modified internal energy for an specific physical system such as ideal gas is obtained in the framework of two different GUPs.

On the (2+1)-dimensional Dirac equation in a constant magnetic field with a minimal length uncertainty

We exactly solve the (2+1)-dimensional Dirac equation in a constant magnetic field in the presence of a minimal length. Using a proper ansatz for the wave function, we transform the Dirac Hamiltonian into two 2-dimensional non-relativistic harmonic oscillator and obtain the solutions without directly solving the corresponding differential equations which are presented by Menculini et al. [Phys. Rev. D 87, 065017 (2013)]. We also show that Menculini et al. solution is a subset of the general solution which is related to the even quantum numbers.

Harmonic oscillator with minimal length, minimal momentum, and maximal momentum uncertainties in SUSYQM framework

We consider a Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) framework which predicts a maximal uncertainty in momentum and minimal uncertainties both in position and momentum. We apply supersymmetric quantum mechanics method and the shape invariance condition to obtain the exact harmonic oscillator eigenvalues in this GUP context. We find the supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians and show that the harmonic oscillator belongs to a hierarchy of Hamiltonians with a shift in momentum representation and different masses and frequencies. We also study the effect of a uniform electric field on the harmonic oscillator energy spectrum in this setup.

Optimized basis expansion as an extremely accurate technique for solving time-independent Schrödinger equation

We use the optimized trigonometric finite basis method to find energy eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the time-independent Schrodinger equation with high accuracy. We apply this method to the quartic anharmonic oscillator and the harmonic oscillator perturbed by a trigonometric anharmonic term as not exactly solvable cases and obtain the nearly exact solutions.

Accurate energy spectrum for double-well potential: periodic basis

We present a variational study of employing the trigonometric basis functions satisfying periodic boundary condition for the accurate calculation of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of quartic double-well oscillators. Contrary to usual Dirichlet boundary condition, imposing periodic boundary condition on the basis functions results in the existence of an inflection point with vanishing curvature in the graph of the energy versus the domain of the variable. We show that this boundary condition results in a higher accuracy in comparison to Dirichlet boundary condition. This is due to the fact that the periodic basis functions are not necessarily forced to vanish at the boundaries and can properly fit themselves to the exact solutions.

Late time acceleration in a deformed phase space model of dilaton cosmology

The effects of noncommutativity on the phase space of a dilatonic cosmological model is investigated. The existence of such noncommutativity results in a deformed Poisson algebra between the minisuperspace variables and their momenta conjugate. For an exponential dilaton potential, the exact solutions in the commutative and noncommutative cases, are presented and compared. We use these solutions to address the late time acceleration issue of cosmic evolution.

Mona Lisa, the stochastic view and fractality in color space

A painting consists of objects which are arranged in specific ways. The art of painting is drawing the objects, which can be considered as known trends, in an expressive manner. Detrended methods are suitable for characterizing the artistic works of the painter by eliminating trends. It means that we study the paintings, regardless of its apparent purpose, as a stochastic process. We apply multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis to characterize the statistical properties of Mona Lisa, as an instance, to exhibit the fractality of the painting. Our results show that Mona Lisa is long range correlated and almost behaves similar in various scales.
