Nodal compact $Q$-ball/$Q$-shell in the $\mathbb{C}P^N$ nonlinear sigma model

Nodal, excited compactons in the $\mathbb{C}P^N$ models with V-shaped potentials are analyzed. It is shown that the solutions exist as compact $Q$-balls and $Q$-shells. The solutions have a discontinuity in the second derivative associated with the character of the potential, however, their energy and charge densities are both continuous. The excited $Q$-balls and $Q$-shells are analyzed as electrically neutral and electrically charged objects.

On decay of shock-like waves into compact oscillons

The signum-Gordon model in 1+1 dimensions possesses the exact shockwave solution with discontinuity of the field at the light cone and infinite gradient energy. The energy of a regular part of the wave inside the light cone is finite and it grows linearly with time. The initial data for such waves contain a field configuration which is null in the space and has time derivative proportional to the Dirac delta. We study regularized initial data that lead to shock-like waves with finite gradient energy. We found that such waves exist in the finite time intervals and finally they decay and produce a cascade of oscillon-like structures. A pattern of the decay is very similar to the one observed in process of scattering of compact oscillons.

Scattering of compact oscillons

We study various aspects of the scattering of generalized compact oscillons in the signum-Gordon model in (1+1) dimensions. Using covariance of the model we construct traveling oscillons and study their interactions and the dependence of these interactions on the oscillons initial velocities and their relative phases. The scattering processes transform the two incoming oscillons into two outgoing ones and lead to the generation of extra oscillons which appear in the form of jet-like cascades. Such cascades vanish for some values of free parameters and the scattering processes, even though our model is non-integrable, resemble typical scattering processes normally observed for integrable or quase-integrable models. Occasionally, in the intermediate stage of the process, we have seen the emission of shock waves and we have noticed that, in general, outgoing oscillons have been more involved in their emission than the initial ones i.e. they have a border in form of curved world-lines. The results of our studies of the scattering of oscillons suggest that the radiation of the signum-Gordon model has a fractal-like nature.

Static multi-soliton solutions in the affine su(N+1) Toda models

We study some static multi-soliton configurations in the su(N + 1) Toda models. Such configurations exist for N > 1. We construct explicitly a multi-soliton solution for any N and study conditions for having such solutions. The number of static solitons is limited by the rank of the su(N + 1) Lie algebra. We give some examples of non-static multi-soliton solutions with static components.

Numerical vortex solutions in (3+1) dimensions for the extended $CP^N$ Skyrme-Faddeev model

We construct numerical vortex solutions in a (3+1) dimensional Minkowski space-time for the extended version of the Skyrme-Faddeev model with target space $CP^N$. The solutions are essentially composed of $N$-th single vortex which does not belong to the integrable sector. They have finite energy per unit length and contain waves propagating along vortices with the speed of light. In this Letter we report on the case N=2 and show existence of the solutions with the charges $(n_1,n_2)=(1,2)$.

Properties of some (3+1) dimensional vortex solutions of the CP^N model

We construct new classes of vortex-like solutions of the CP^N model in (3+1) dimensions and discuss some of their properties. These solutions are obtained by generalizing to (3+1) dimensions the techniques well established for the two dimensional CP^N models. We show that as the total energy of these solutions is infinite, they describe evolving vortices and anti-vortices with the energy density of some configurations varying in time. We also make some further observations about the dynamics of these vortices.

Some (3+1) dimensional vortex solutions of the CPN model

We present a class of solutions of the CPN model in (3+1) dimensions. We suggest that they represent vortex-like configurations. We also discuss some of their properties. We show that some configurations of vortices have a divergent energy per unit length while for the others such an energy has a minimum for a very special orientation of vortices. We also discuss the Noether charge densities of these vortices.

Some properties of (3+1) dimensional vortex solutions in the extended CP^N Skyrme-Faddeev model

We look at properties of vortex solutions of the extended CP^N Skyrme-Faddeev model. We show that only holomorphic solutions of the CP^N model are also solutions of the Skyrme-Faddeev model. As the total energy of these solutions is infinite these solutions should be interpreted as describing time dependent vortices. We describe their dynamics and, in partcular, point out that one of the terms in the energy density is related to the Noether charge of the model.

Exact vortex solutions in a CP^N Skyrme-Faddeev type model

We consider a four dimensional field theory with target space being CP^N which constitutes a generalization of the usual Skyrme-Faddeev model defined on CP^1. We show that it possesses an integrable sector presenting an infinite number of local conservation laws, which are associated to the hidden symmetries of the zero curvature representation of the theory in loop space. We construct an infinite class of exact solutions for that integrable submodel where the fields are meromorphic functions of the combinations (x^1+i x^2) and (x^3+x^0) of the Cartesian coordinates of four dimensional Minkowski space-time. Among those solutions we have static vortices and also vortices with waves traveling along them with the speed of light. The energy per unity of length of the vortices show an interesting and intricate interaction among the vortices and waves.

Compact boson stars in K field theories

We study a scalar field theory with a non-standard kinetic term minimally coupled to gravity. We establish the existence of compact boson stars, that is, static solutions with compact support of the full system with self-gravitation taken into account. Concretely, there exist two types of solutions, namely compact balls on the one hand, and compact shells on the other hand. The compact balls have a naked singularity at the center. The inner boundary of the compact shells is singular, as well, but it is, at the same time, a Killing horizon. These singular, compact shells therefore resemble black holes.

Compact shell solitons in K field theories

Some models providing shell-shaped static solutions with compact support (compactons) in 3+1 and 4+1 dimensions are introduced, and the corresponding exact solutions are calculated analytically. These solutions turn out to be topological solitons, and may be classified as maps $S^3 \to S^3$ and suspended Hopf maps, respectively. The Lagrangian of these models is given by a scalar field with a non-standard kinetic term (K field) coupled to a pure Skyrme term restricted to $S^2$, rised to the appropriate power to avoid the Derrick scaling argument. Further, the existence of infinitely many exact shell solitons is explained using the generalized integrability approach. Finally, similar models allowing for non-topological compactons of the ball type in 3+1 dimensions are briefly discussed.

Pullback of the Volume Form, Integrable Models in Higher Dimensions and Exotic Textures

A procedure allowing for the construction of Lorentz invariant integrable models living in d+1 dimensional space-time and with an n dimensional target space is provided. Here, integrability is understood as the existence of the generalized zero-curvature formulation and infinitely many conserved quantities. A close relation between the Lagrange density of the integrable models and the pullback of the pertinent volume form on target space is established. Moreover, we show that the conserved currents are Noether currents generated by the volume preserving diffeomorphisms. Further, we show how such models may emerge via abelian projection of some gauge theories. Then we apply this framework to the construction of integrable models with exotic textures. Particularly, we consider integrable models providing exact suspended Hopf maps i.e., solitons with a nontrivial topological charge of pi_4(S^3). Finally, some families of integrable models with solitons of pi_n(S^n) type are constructed. Infinitely many exact solutions with arbitrary value of the topological index are found. In addition, we demonstrate that they saturate a Bogomolny bound.
