Effect of coupled channels of the multi-channel pion-pion scattering in two-pion transitions of the ΥΥ mesons

The effect of isoscalar S-wave processes ππ→ππ,KK‾,ηηππ\toππ,K\overline{K},ηη is considered in the analysis of data (from the ARGUS, CLEO, CUSB, Crystal Ball, Belle, BABAR collaborations) on the bottomonia decays --- Υ(mS)→Υ(nS)ππΥ(mS)\toΥ(nS)ππ (m>n,m=2,3,4,5,n=1,2,3m>n, m=2,3,4,5, n=1,2,3). It is shown that the dipion mass spectra of these decays are explained by the unified mechanism related to the contribution of the multichannel ππππ scattering in the final states of these reactions. Since in the analysis the multichannel ππππ-scattering amplitudes did not change in comparison with the ones in our combined analysis of data on the multichannel ππππ scattering and on the charmonia decays --- J/ψ→ϕ(ππ,KK‾)J/ψ\toϕ(ππ, K\overline{K}) and ψ(2S)→J/ψ(ππ)ψ(2S)\to J/ψ(ππ) (from the Crystal Ball, DM2, Mark II, Mark III, and BES II) --- the results confirm all our earlier conclusions on the scalar mesons.

Modified ππππ amplitude with σσ pole

A set of well known once subtracted dispersion relations with imposed crossing symmetry condition is used to modify unitary multichannel SS (ππππ, KKˉK \bar K, and ηηηη) and PP (ππππ, ρ2πρ2π, and ρσρσ) wave amplitudes mostly below 1 GeV. Before the modifications, these amplitudes significantly did not satisfy the crossing symmetry condition and did not describe the ππππ threshold region. Moreover, the pole of the SS wave amplitude related with the f0(500)f_0(500) meson (former f0(600)f_0(600) or σσ) had much smaller imaginary part and bigger real one in comparison with those in the newest Particle Data Group Tables. Here, these amplitudes are supplemented by near threshold expansion polynomials and refitted to the experimental data in the effective two pion mass from the threshold to 1.8 GeV and to the dispersion relations up to 1.1 GeV. In result the self consistent, i.e. unitary and fulfilling the crossing symmetry condition, SS and PP wave amplitudes are formed and the σσ pole becomes much narrower and lighter. To eliminate doubts about the uniqueness of the so obtained sigma pole position short and purely mathematical proof of the uniqueness of the results is also presented. This analysis is addressed to a wide group of physicists and aims at providing a very effective and easy method of modification of, many presently used, ππππ amplitudes with a heavy and broad σσ meson without changing of their original mathematical structure.

Exclusive electroproduction of K+ Lambda and K+ Sigma^0 final states at Q^2 = 0.030-0.055 (GeV/c)^2

Cross section measurements of the exclusive p(e,e'K+)Lambda,Sigma^0 electroproduction reactions have been performed at the Mainz Microtron MAMI in the A1 spectrometer facility using for the first time the Kaos spectrometer for kaon detection. These processes were studied in a kinematical region not covered by any previous experiment. The nucleon was probed in its third resonance region with virtual photons of low four-momenta, Q^2= 0.030-0.055 (GeV/c)^2. The MAMI data indicate a smooth transition in Q^2 from photoproduction to electroproduction cross sections. Comparison with predictions of effective Lagrangian models based on the isobar approach reveal that strong longitudinal couplings of the virtual photon to the N* resonances can be excluded from these models.
