Half-and-half HFCG with double-end initiation

Design of helical flux compression generator with double-end initiation is described. The developed design approach makes it possible to increase the power in the load by 60\% and shorten the rise time of the pulse by 83\% in comparison with a conventional helical FCG that is made in the same dimensions but with the single-end initiation of explosive. When using an electro-explosive opening switch, the developed FCG allows one to increase the switched current by 35\%.

Energy levels and radiative rates for Cr-like Cu VI and Zn VII

Energy levels and radiative rates (A-values) for transitions in Cr-like Cu~VI and Zn~VII are reported. These data are determined in the quasi-relativistic approach (QR), by employing a very large {\em configuration interaction} (CI) expansion which is highly important for these ions. No radiative rates are available in the literature to compare with our results, but our calculated energies are in close agreement with those compiled by NIST and other available theoretical data, for a majority of the levels. The A-values (and resultant lifetimes) are listed for all significantly contributing E1, E2 and M1 radiative transitions among the energetically lowest 322 levels of each ion.

Energy level properties of 4p6^64d3^3, 4p6^64d2^24f and 4p5^54d4^4 configurations of W35+^{35+} ion

The ab initio quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock method developed specifically for the calculation of spectroscopic parameters of heavy atoms and highly charged ions was used to derive spectral data for the multicharged tungsten ion W35+^{35+}. The configuration interaction method was applied to include the electron-correlation effects. The relativistic effects were taken into account in the Breit-Pauli approximation for quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock radial orbitals. The energy level spectra, radiative lifetimes ττ, Lande gg-factors are calculated for the 4p64d3\mathrm{4p^64d^3}, 4p64d24f\mathrm{4p^64d^24f} and 4p54d4\mathrm{4p^54d^4} configurations of the W35+^{35+} ion.

Energy levels and radiative rates for transitions in Cr-like Co IV and Ni V

We report calculations of energy levels and radiative rates (AA-values) for transitions in Cr-like Co IV and Ni V. The quasi-relativistic Hartree-Fock (QRHF) code is adopted for calculating the data although GRASP (general-purpose relativistic atomic structure package) and flexible atomic code (FAC) have also been employed for comparison purposes. No radiative rates are available in the literature to compare with our results, but our calculated energies are in close agreement with those compiled by NIST for a majority of the levels. However, there are discrepancies for a few levels of up to 3\%. The AA-values are listed for all significantly contributing E1, E2 and M1 transitions, and the corresponding lifetimes reported, although unfortunately no previous theoretical or experimental results exist to compare with our data.

Metastable level properties of the excited configuration 4p64d84f4p^{6}4d^{8}4f

Metastable levels in rhodium-like ions with the ground configuration 4p64d94p^{6}4d^{9} and the excited configurations 4p64d84f4p^{6}4d^{8}4f and 4p54d104p^{5}4d^{10} are investigated. The {\sl ab initio} calculations of the level energies, radiative multipole transition probabilities are performed in a quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock approximation employing an extensive configuration interaction based on quasirelativistic transformed radial orbitals. A systematic trends in behavior of calculated radiative lifetimes of the metastable levels are studied for the ions from Z=60Z=60 to Z=92Z=92. The significance of the radiative transitions of higher multipole order (M2M2 and E3E3) for the calculated radiative lifetimes is demonstrated and discussed.

Methods, algorithms and computer codes for calculation of electron-impact excitation parameters

We describe the computer codes, developed at Vilnius University, for the calculation of electron-impact excitation cross sections, collision strengths, and excitation rates in the plane-wave Born approximation. These codes utilize the multireference atomic wavefunctions which are also adopted to calculate radiative transition parameters of complex many-electron ions. This leads to consistent data sets suitable in plasma modelling codes. Two versions of electron scattering codes are considered in the present work, both of them employing configuration interaction method for inclusion of correlation effects and Breit-Pauli approximation to account for relativistic effects. These versions differ only by one-electron radial orbitals, where the first one employs the non-relativistic numerical radial orbitals, while another version uses the quasirelativistic radial orbitals. The accuracy of produced results is assessed by comparing radiative transition and electron-impact excitation data for neutral hydrogen, helium and lithium atoms as well as highly-charged tungsten ions with theoretical and experimental data available from other sources.

Quasirelativistic calculation of 4s2^24p5^5, 4s2^24p4^44d and 4s4p6^6 configuration spectroscopic parameters for the W39+^{39+} ion

The ab initio quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock method developed specifically for the calculation of spectral parameters of heavy atoms and highly charged ions is used to derive spectral data for the 4s2^24p5^5, 4s2^24p4^44d and 4s4p6^6 configurations of the multicharged tungsten ion W39+^{39+}. The relativistic effects are taken into account in the Breit-Pauli approximation for the quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock radial orbitals. The configuration interaction method is applied to include the electron correlation effects. Produced data are compared with existing experimental measurements and theoretical calculations.

Significance of M2 and E3 transitions for 4p54dN+14p^54d^{N+1} and 4p64dN−14f4p^64d^{N-1}4f configuration metastable level lifetimes

Magnetic quadrupole and electric octupole transitions from the configurations 4p54dN+14p^54d^{N+1} and 4p64dN−14f4p^64d^{N-1}4f were calculated along with magnetic dipole, electric dipole and electric quadrupole radiative transitions in quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock approximation. Their significance in determining the metastable level radiative lifetimes was investigated along several isoelectronic sequences for the ions from Z=50Z=50 to Z=92Z=92. Strontium-like ions, zirconium-like ions, molybdenum-like ions and rhodium-like ions were studied comprehensively. Remaining isoelectronic sequences with the ground configuration 4dN4d^{N} (N=1,3,5,7,8,10N=1,3,5,7,8,10) were also reviewed albeit in less detail. A systematic trends of determined total radiative lifetimes were studied. The importance of magnetic quadrupole and electric octupole transitions from metastable levels of ions from these isoelectronic sequences was investigated and discussed. Inclusion of such transitions of higher multipole order can change theoretical radiative lifetime values for some levels more than ten times. These cases can not be established in advance, without `performing detailed calculations.

The ab initio quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock method developed specifically for the calculation of spectral parameters of heavy atoms and highly charged ions was applied to determine atomic data for tungsten ions. The correlation effects were included by adopting configuration interaction method. The Breit-Pauli approximation for quasirelativistic Hartree-Fock radial orbitals was employed to take into account relativistic effects. The energy level spectra, radiative lifetimes, Lande factors gg were calculated for the 4p64d\mathrm{4p^64d}, 4p64f\mathrm{4p^64f} and 4p54d2\mathrm{4p^54d^2} configurations of W37+^{37+} ion. The atomic data, namely, the transition wavelengths, spontaneous emission rates and oscillator strengths for the electric dipole, electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole transitions among and within the levels of these configurations are tabulated.
