'Riemann Equations' in Bidifferential Calculus

We consider equations that formally resemble a matrix Riemann (or Hopf) equation in the framework of bidifferential calculus. With different choices of a first-order bidifferential calculus, we obtain a variety of equations, including a semi-discrete and a fully discrete version of the matrix Riemann equation. A corresponding universal solution-generating method then either yields a (continuous or discrete) Cole-Hopf transformation, or leaves us with the problem of solving Riemann equations (hence an application of the hodograph method). If the bidifferential calculus extends to second order, solutions of a system of `Riemann equations' are also solutions of an equation that arises, on the universal level of bidifferential calculus, as an integrability condition. Depending on the choice of bidifferential calculus, the latter can represent a number of prominent integrable equations, like self-dual Yang-Mills, as well as matrix versions of the two-dimensional Toda lattice, Hirota's bilinear difference equation, (2+1)-dimensional NLS, KP and Davey-Stewartson equations. For all of them, a recent (non-isospectral) binary Darboux transformation result in bidifferential calculus applies, which can be specialized to generate solutions of the associated `Riemann equations'. For the latter, we clarify the relation between these specialized binary Darboux transformations and the aforementioned solution-generating method. From (arbitrary size) matrix versions of the `Riemann equations' associated with an integrable equation, possessing a bidifferential calculus formulation, multi-soliton-type solutions of the latter can be generated. This includes `breaking' multi-soliton-type solutions of the self-dual Yang-Mills and the (2+1)-dimensional NLS equation, which are parametrized by solutions of Riemann equations.

Darboux Transformations for (2+1)-Dimensional Extensions of the KP Hierarchy

New extensions of the KP and modified KP hierarchies with self-consistent sources are proposed. The latter provide new generalizations of $(2+1)$-dimensional integrable equations, including the DS-III equation and the $N$-wave problem. Furthermore, we recover a system that contains two types of the KP equation with self-consistent sources as special cases. Darboux and binary Darboux transformations are applied to generate solutions of the proposed hierarchies.

Self-Consistent Sources for Integrable Equations via Deformations of Binary Darboux Transformations

We reveal the origin and structure of self-consistent source extensions of integrable equations from the perspective of binary Darboux transformations. They arise via a deformation of the potential that is central in this method. As examples, we obtain in particular matrix versions of self-consistent source extensions of the sine-Gordon, nonlinear Schrodinger, KdV, Boussinesq, KP, Davey-Stewartson, two-dimensional Toda lattice and discrete KP systems. We also recover a (2+1)-dimensional version of the Yajima-Oikawa system from a deformation of the pKP hierarchy. By construction, these systems are accompanied by a hetero binary Darboux transformation, which generates solutions of such a system from a solution of the source-free system and additionally solutions of an associated linear system and its adjoint. The essence of all this is encoded in universal equations in the framework of bidifferential calculus.

A new bidirectional generalization of (2+1)-dimensional matrix k-constrained KP hierarchy

We introduce a new bidirectional generalization of (2+1)-dimensional k-constrained KP hierarchy ((2+1)-BDk-cKPH). This new hierarchy generalizes (2+1)-dimensional k-cKP hierarchy, $(t_A,τ_B)$ and $(γ_A,σ_B)$ matrix hierarchies. (2+1)-BDk-cKPH contains a new matrix (1+1)-k-constrained KP hierarchy. Some members of (2+1)-BDk-cKPH are also listed. In particular, it contains matrix generalizations of DS systems, (2+1)-dimensional modified Korteweg-de Vries equation and the Nizhnik equation. (2+1)-BDk-cKPH also includes new matrix (2+1)-dimensional generalizations of the Yajima-Oikawa and Melnikov systems. Binary Darboux Transformation Dressing Method is also proposed for construction of exact solutions for equations from (2+1)-BDk-cKPH. As an example the exact form of multi-soliton solutions for vector generalization of the Davey-Stewartson system is given.

Additional reductions in the k-constrained modified KP hierarchy

Additional reductions in the modified k-constrained KP hierarchy are proposed. As a result we obtain generalizations of Kaup-Broer system, Korteweg-de Vries equation and a modification of Korteweg-de Vries equation that belongs to modified k-constrained KP hierarchy. We also propose solution generating technique based on binary Darboux transformations for the obtained equations.

Matrix generalizations of integrable systems with Lax integro-differential representations

We present (2+1)-dimensional generalizations of the k-constrained Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (k-cKP) hierarchy and corresponding matrix Lax representations that consist of two integro-differential operators. Additional reductions imposed on the Lax pairs lead to matrix generalizations of Davey-Stewartson systems (DS-I,DS-II,DS-III) and (2+1)-dimensional extensions of the modified Korteweg-de Vries and the Nizhnik equation. We also present an integro-differential Lax pair for a matrix version of a (2+1)-dimensional extension of the Chen-Lee-Liu equation.
