Absence of isolated critical points with nonstandard critical exponents in the four-dimensional regularization of Lovelock gravity

Hyperbolic vacuum black holes in Lovelock gravity theories of odd order $N$, in which $N$ denotes the order of higher-curvature corrections, are known to have the so-called isolated critical points with nonstandard critical exponents (as $α= 0$, $β= 1$, $γ= N-1$, and $δ= N$), different from those of mean-field critical exponents (with $α= 0$, $β= 1/2$, $γ= 1$, and $δ= 3$). Motivated by this important observation, here, we explore the consequences of taking the $D \to 4$ limit of Lovelock gravity and the possibility of finding nonstandard critical exponents associated with isolated critical points in four-dimensions by use of the four-dimensional regularization technique, proposed recently by Glavan and Lin \cite{Glavan2020}. To do so, we first present $\text{AdS}_4$ Einstein-Lovelock black holes with fine-tuned Lovelock couplings in the regularized theory, which is needed for our purpose. Next, it is shown that the regularized $4D$ Einstein-Lovelock gravity theories of odd order $N > 3$ do not possess any physical isolated critical point, unlike the conventional Lovelock gravity. In fact, the critical (inflection) points of the equation of state always occur for the branch of black holes with negative entropy. The situation is quite different for the case of the regularized $4D$ Einstein-Lovelock gravity with cubic curvature corrections ($N=3$). In this case ($N=3$), although the entropy is non-negative and the equation of state of hyperbolic vacuum black holes has a nonstandard Taylor expansion about its inflection point, but there is no criticality associated with this special point. At the inflection point, the physical properties of the black hole system change drastically ...

Self-energy problem, vacuum polarization, and dual symmetry in Born-Infeld-type $U(1)$ gauge theories

We extensively explore three different aspects of Born-Infeld (BI) type nonlinear $U(1)$ gauge-invariant modifications of Maxwell's classical electrodynamics (also known as BI-type nonlinear electrodynamics) and bring some new perspectives on these theories. First, within the framework of exponential $U(1)$ gauge theory, it is explicitly proved that although the electric field at the location of the elementary point charges is not finite, but the total electrostatic field energy is finite. Motivated by this observation together with a wealth of evidence, we conjecture that all theories in 4-dimensional spacetime that belong to the BI family result in finite self-energy for elementary charged particles. In higher dimensions, it is found that the weak-field coupling limit of BI-type theories, which is identified as the weak field limit of effective Euler-Heisenberg (EH) theory, does not possess a regularizing ability to make the self-energy of a point charge finite, which implies that the conjecture may not hold for some BI-type theories. However, we explicitly prove that BI, logarithmic and exponential $U(1)$ gauge theories in arbitrary dimensions result in finite self-energy as well. Next, we classically study the problem of vacuum polarization effects and then systematically make a connection between all BI-type theories and QED. It is shown that all the BI-type theories classically predict the vacuum polarization effects, in which the final results are exactly in one-to-one correspondence with QED and the effective EH theory up to the leading order of corrections. Finally, we present a new, simple proof indicating that ...

Warm constant-roll inflation in brane-world cosmology

In this article we study a constant-roll inflationary model in the context of brane-world cosmology caused by a quintessence scalar field for warm inflation with a constant dissipative parameter Q =$Γ$/3H. We determine the analytical solution for the Friedman equation coupled to the equation of motion of the scaler field. The evolution of the primordial scalar and tensor perturbations is also studied using the modified Langevin equation. To check the viability of the model we use numerical approaches and plot some figures. Our results for the scalar spectral index and the tensor to scaler ratio show good consistency with observations.

Constant roll warm inflation in high dissipative regime

Constant-roll warm inflation is introduced in this work. A novel approach to finding an exact solution for Friedman equations coupled to scalar field equation of motion is presented for cold inflation and is extended to warm inflation with the constant dissipative parameter $Q=\fracΓ{3H}$. The evolution of the primordial inhomogeneities of a scalar field in a thermal bath is also studied. The $1σ$ consistency between the theoretical predictions of the model and observational constraints has been proven for a range of $Q$ and $β=\frac{\ddotϕ}{3Hϕ}$ (constant rate of inflaton roll). In addition, we briefly investigate the possible enhancement of super-horizon perturbations beyond the slow-roll approximation.

Holographic Cosmology from a System of M2-M5 Branes

In this paper, we analyze the holographic cosmology using a M2-M5 brane configuration. In this configuration, a M2-brane will be placed in between a M5-brane and an anti-M5-brane. The M2-brane will act as a channel for energy to flow from an anti-M5-brane to a M5-brane, and this will increase the degrees of freedom on the M5-brane causing inflation. The inflation will end when the M5-brane and anti-M5-brane get separated. However, at a later stage the distance between the M5-brane and the anti-M5-bran can reduce and this will cause the formation of tachyonic states. These tachyonic states will be again open a bridge between the M5-branes and the anti-M5-branes, which will cause further acceleration of the universe.

Role of higher -dimensional evolving wormholes in the formation of a big rip singularity

We study the evolutions of 4D universe on the M2-M5 BIon in the thermal background. The BIon consists of a D-brane and a parallel anti-D-brane which a wormhole connects them. When the branes and antibranes are far from each other and the brane's spike and the antibrane's spike are well separated, the wormhole cannot be built. However, when the branes and anti-branes are close to each other, a wormhole can be formed between them. Under this condition, there are many ways for flowing energy from transverse dimensions into our universe. This energy overcomes all other forms of energy, such as the gravitational repulsion and causes that our epoch is terminated at a Big-Rip singularity. We show that at this point, universe would be disappeared and one black M2-brane is formed. Finally, we examine our model against WMAP, Planck and BICEP2 experiments and get the ripping time. Comparing the model with experimental data, we obtain $N\simeq 50$ and $n_{s}\simeq 0.96$, where \emph{N} and $n_{s}$ are the number e-folds and the spectral index respectively. These results could be located in $0.01 < R_{Tensor-scalar} < 0.3$, where $R_{Tensor-scalar}$ is the tensor-scalar ratio. In this epoch, the Big Rip singularity happens in a finite time $t_{rip}=31(Gyr)$ for WMAP and Planck experimnts and $t_{rip}=28(Gyr)$ for BICEP2 experiment. By comparing this time with the time of the Big Rip in brane-antibrane, we observe that the wormhole in BIonic system causes that the destruction of the universe becomes faster.

Tachyon-Warm Intermediate and Logamediate Inflation in the Brane-World Model in the Light of Planck Data

Tachyon inflationary universe model on the brane in the context of warm inflation is studied. In slow-roll approximation and in longitudinal gauge, we find the primoradial perturbation spectrums for this scenario. We also present the general expressions of the tensor-scalar ratio, scalar spectral index and its running. We develop our model by using exponential potential, the characteristics of this model are calculated in great details. We also study our model in the context of intermediate (where scale factor expands as: $a=a_0\exp(At^f)$) and logamediate (where the scale factor expands as: $a=a_0\exp(A[\ln t]^ν)$) models of inflation. In these two sectors, dissipative parameter is considered as a constant parameter and a function of tachyon field. Our model is compatible with observational data. The parameters of the model are restricted by recent observational data from the nine-year Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe (WMAP9) and Planck data.

A bridge between unified cosmic history by $f(R)$-gravity and BIonic system

Recently, the cosmological deceleration-acceleration transition redshift in $f(R)$ gravity has been considered in order to address consistently the problem of cosmic evolution. It is possible to show that the deceleration parameter changes sign at a given redshift according to observational data. Furthermore, a $f(R)$ gravity cosmological model can be constructed in brane-antibrane system starting from the very early universe and accounting for the cosmological redshift at all phases of cosmic history, from inflation to late time acceleration. Here we propose a $f(R)$ model where transition redshifts correspond to inflation-deceleration and deceleration-late time acceleration transitions starting froma BIon system. At the point where the universe was born, due to the transition of $k$ black fundamental strings to the BIon configuration, the redshift is approximately infinity and decreases with reducing temperature ($z\sim T^{2}$). The BIon is a configuration in flat space of a universe-brane and a parallel anti-universe-brane connected by a wormhole. This wormhole is a channel for flowing energy from extra dimensions into our universe, occurring at inflation and decreasing with redshift as $z\sim T^{4+1/7}$. Dynamics consists with the fact that the wormhole misses its energy and vanishes as soon as inflation ends and deceleration begins. Approaching two universe branes together, a tachyon is originated, it grows up and causes the formation of a wormhole. We show that, in the framework of $f(R)$ gravity, the cosmological redshift depends on the tachyonic potential and has a significant decrease at deceleration-late time acceleration transition point ($z\sim T^{2/3}$). As soon as today acceleration approaches, the redshift tends to zero and the cosmological model reduces to the standard $Λ$CDM cosmology.

Emergence and expansion of cosmic space as due to M0-branes

Recently, Padmanabhan [arXiv:1206.4916 [hep-th]] discussed that the difference between the number of degrees of freedom on the boundary surface and the number of degrees of freedom in a bulk region causes the accelerated expansion of the universe. The main question that arises on the origin of this inequality between the surface degrees of freedom and the bulk degrees of freedom. We answer this question in M-theory. In our model, first M0-branes are compactified on one circle and then N D0-branes are created. Then, N D0-branes join to each other, grow and form a D5-brane. Next, D5- brane is compactified on two circle and our universe-D3-brane, two D1-brane and some extra energies are produced. After that, one of the D1-branes, which is more close to the universe-brane, gives its energy into it, leads to an increase of the difference between the number of degrees of freedom and the occurring inflation era. With the disappearance of this D1-brane, the number of degrees of freedom of boundary surface and bulk region becomes equal and inflation ends. At this stage, extra energies that are produced due to the compactification cause to an expansion of universe and deceleration epoch. Finally, another D1-brane, dissolves in our universe-brane, leads to an inequality between degrees of freedom and gives rise to a new phase of acceleration.

Unifying inflation with late-time acceleration in BIonic system

In this research, we propose a new model that allows to unify inflation, deceleration and acceleration phases of expansion history in BIonic system. In this model, in the beginning, there have been $k$ black fundamental strings that transited to the BIon configuration at a corresponding point. At this point, two universe brane and universe antibrane have been created, interacted with each other via one wormhole and inflated. With decreasing temperature, the energy of this wormhole flowed into universe branes and lead to inflation. After a short time, wormhole died, inflation ended and deceleration epoch started. With approaching two universe brane and antibrane together, tachyon was born, grew and caused creation of one new wormhole. At this time, two universe brane and antibrane connected again and late-time acceleration era of the universe began. We compare our model with previous unified phantom model and observational data and obtain some cosmological parameters like temperature in terms of time. We also find that deceleration parameter is negative during inflation and late-time acceleration epochs and positive during deceleration era. This means that our model is consistent with previous prediction and cosmological experiments.

Analytical Holographic Superconductor with Backreaction Using AdS3/CFT2

The holographic model for a two-dimensional superconductor has been investigated by considering the three-dimensional gravity in the bulk. To find the critical temperature, we used the Sturm-Liouville variational method. Where as the same method is applied for calculating the condensation of the dual operators on the boundary. We included the back reactions on the metric by a combination of the perturbation method of the fields with respect to the small parameter and then applying the variational integrals on the resulting equations of the motion. The critical temperature has been successfully obtained on the backreaction effects, and we showed that it dropped with a rise in the backreaction of the fields, and it makes the condensation harder. We can use our analytical results to support the numerical data which was reported previously.
