A policy iteration algorithm for nonzero-sum stochastic impulse games

This work presents a novel policy iteration algorithm to tackle nonzero-sum stochastic impulse games arising naturally in many applications. Despite the obvious impact of solving such problems, there are no suitable numerical methods available, to the best of our knowledge. Our method relies on the recently introduced characterization of the value functions and Nash equilibrium via a system of quasi-variational inequalities. While our algorithm is heuristic and we do not provide a convergence analysis, numerical tests show that it performs convincingly in a wide range of situations, including the only analytically solvable example available in the literature at the time of writing.

Optimal stochastic control problem under model uncertainty with non-entropic penalty

In this paper, a stochastic control problem under model uncertainty with general penalty term is studied. Two types of penalties are considered. The first one is of type f-divergence penalty treated in the general framework of a continuous filtration. The second one called consistent time penalty studied in the context of a Brownian filtration. In the case of consistent time penalty, we characterize the value process of our stochastic control problem as the unique solution of a class of quadratic backward stochastic differential equation with unbounded terminal condition.

Euler time discretization of Backward Doubly SDEs and Application to Semilinear SPDEs

This paper investigates a numerical probabilistic method for the solution of some semilinear stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs in short). The numerical scheme is based on discrete time approximation for solutions of systems of decoupled forward-backward doubly stochastic differential equations. Under standard assumptions on the parameters, the convergence and the rate of convergence of the numerical scheme is proven. The proof is based on a generalization of the result on the path regularity of the backward equation.

Maximization of recursive utilities under convex portfolio constraints

We study a robust maximization problem from terminal wealth and consumption under a convex constraints on the portfolio. We state the existence and the uniqueness of the consumption-investment strategy by studying the associated quadratic backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE in short). We characterize the optimal control by using the duality method and deriving a dynamic maximum principle.

Numerical methods for optimal insurance demand under marked point processes shocks

This paper deals with numerical solutions of maximizing expected utility from terminal wealth under a non-bankruptcy constraint. The wealth process is subject to shocks produced by a general marked point process. The problem of the agent is to derive the optimal insurance strategy which allows "lowering" the level of the shocks. This optimization problem is related to a suitable dual stochastic control problem in which the delicate boundary constraints disappear. In Mnif \cite{mnif10}, the dual value function is characterized as the unique viscosity solution of the corresponding Hamilton Jacobi Bellman Variational Inequality (HJBVI in short). We characterize the optimal insurance strategy by the solution of the variational inequality which we solve numerically by using an algorithm based on policy iterations.

Optimal insurance demand under marked point processes shocks: a dynamic programming duality approach

We study the stochastic control problem of maximizing expected utility from terminal wealth under a non-bankruptcy constraint. The problem of the agent is to derive the optimal insurance strategy which allows "lowering" the level of the shocks. This optimization problem is related to a suitable dual stochastic control problem in which the delicate boundary constraints disappear.
