Cubic vertex-transitive graphs admitting automorphisms of large order

A connected graph of order $n$ admitting a semiregular automorphism of order $n/k$ is called a $k$-multicirculant. Highly symmetric multicirculants of small valency have been extensively studied, and several classification results exist for cubic vertex- and arc-transitive multicirculants. In this paper we study the broader class of cubic vertex-transitive graphs of order $n$ admitting an automorphism of order $n/3$ or larger that may not be semiregular. In particular, we show that any such graph is either a $k$-multicirculant for some $k \leq 3$, or it belongs to an infinite family of graphs of girth $6$.

Maniplexes with automorphism group $\textrm{PSL}_2(q)$

A maniplex of rank $n$ is a combinatorial object that generalises the notion of a rank $n$ abstract polytope. A maniplex with the highest possible degree of symmetry is called reflexible. In this paper we prove that there is a rank $4$ reflexible maniplex with automorphism group $\textrm{PSL}_2(q)$ for infinitely many prime powers $q$, and that no reflexible maniplex of rank $n > 4$ exists that has $\textrm{PSL}_2(q)$ as its full automorphism group.

Finite cubic graphs admitting an cyclic group of automorphisms with at most three orbits on vertices

The theory of voltage graphs has become a standard tool in the study graphs admitting a semiregular group of automorphisms. We introduce the notion of a cyclic generalised voltage graph to extend the scope of this theory to graphs admitting a cyclic group of automorphism that may not be semiregular. We use this new tool to classify all cubic graphs admitting a cyclic group of automorphisms with at most three vertex-orbits and we characterise vertextransitivity for each of these classes. In particular, we show that a cubic vertex-transitive graph admitting a cyclic group of automorphisms with at most three orbits on vertices either belongs to one of 5 infinite families or is isomorphic to the well-know Tutte-Coxeter graph.

Symmetry Type Graphs of Abstract Polytopes and Maniplexes

A $k$-orbit maniplex is one that has $k$ orbits of flags under the action of its automorphism group. In this paper we extend the notion of symmetry type graphs of maps to that of maniplexes and polytopes and make use of them to study $k$-orbit maniplexes, as well as fully-transitive 3-maniplexes. In particular, we show that there are no fully-transtive $k$-orbit 3-mainplexes with $k > 1$ an odd number, we classify 3-orbit mainplexes and determine all face transitivities for 3- and 4-orbit maniplexes. Moreover, we give generators of the automorphism group of a polytope or a maniplex, given its symmetry type graph. Finally, we extend these notions to oriented polytopes, in particular we classify oriented 2-orbit maniplexes and give generators for their orientation preserving automorphism group.
