General spherically symmetric solution of Cotton gravity

In this paper we present the general spherically symmetric static solution to the vacuum equations of Cotton gravity. The obtained metric solution reveals the presence of singularities at the photosphere of a spherical source, which probably obstruct the formation of the stellar Schwarzschild-radius black holes. The solution is characterized by two integration constants, whose values can be restricted by association with the Hubble horizon. We examine the diverse features of the solution, including the long-range modifications to Newton's force through the incorporation of the velocity-squared repulsive term to model the dark energy.

Probing the Information-Probabilistic Description

The information conservation principle is probed for classically isolated systems, like the Hubble sphere and black holes, for which the rise of entanglement entropy across their horizons is expected. We accept the analogy of Landauer's principle that entanglement information should introduce some negative potential energy, which corresponds to the positive energy of measurements that destroy this quantum behavior. We estimated these dark-energy-like contributions and found that they can explain the dark energy of the Universe and also are able to resolve the observed superluminal motion and redshift controversies for black holes.

Towards an information description of space-time

We attempt to describe geometry in terms of informational quantities for the universe considered as a finite ensemble of correlated quantum particles. As the main dynamical principle, we use the conservation of the sum of all kinds of entropies: thermodynamic, quantum and informational. The fundamental constant of speed is interpreted as the information velocity for the world ensemble and also connected with the gravitational potential of the universe on a particle. The two postulates, which are enough to derive the whole theory of Special Relativity, are re-formulated as the principles of information entropy universality and finiteness of information density.

Binary Neutron Star Mergers with Missing Electromagnetic Counterparts as Manifestations of Mirror World

We suggest that the major fraction of binary mergers, which might provide gravitational wave signal detectable by LIGO/Virgo, emerged from the hidden mirror sector. Mirror particles do not interact with an ordinary observer except gravitationally, which is the reason why no electromagnetic signals accompanying gravitational waves from mergers with components composed of mirror matter are expected. Therefore, if the dark matter budget of the universe is mostly contributed by the mirror particles, we predict that only about one binary neutron star (neutron star - black hole) merger out of ten, observable by LIGO/Virgo, in particular at favorable conditions relative to the line of sight, could be accompanied by prompt gamma ray burst and other electromagnetic signals suitable for follow up observations. It seems the list of candidate events recorded by LIGO/Virgo during third observational run supports our predictions.

Diffractions from the brane and GW150914

In the braneworld scenario the zero mode gravitons are trapped on a brane due to non-linear warping effect, so that gravitational waves can reflect from the brane walls. If the reflected waves form an interference pattern on the brane then it can be detected on existing detectors due to spatial variations of intensity in the pattern. As an example we interpret the LIGO event GW150914 as a manifestation of such interference pattern produced by the burst gravitational waves, emitted by a powerful source inside or outside the brane and reflected from the brane walls.

Octonionic geometry and conformal transformations

We describe space-time using split octonions over the reals and use their group of automorphisms, the non-compact form of Cartan's exceptional Lie group G2, as the main geometrical group of the model. Connections of the G2-rotations of octonionic 8D space with the conformal transformations in 4D Minkowski space-time are studied. It is shown that the dimensional constant needed in these analysis naturally gives the observed value of the cosmological constant.

Size of Shell Universe in Light of Fermi GBM Transient Associated with GW150914

The possible gamma ray burst occurred in location and temporal consistence with gravitational wave event GW150914, as reported by Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM), offers a new way of constraining models with extra dimensions. Using the time delay in arrival of the gamma ray transient observed by Fermi GBM relative to the gravitational waves event triggered by the LIGO detectors we investigate the size of the spherical brane-universe expanding in multi-dimensional space-time. It is shown that a joint observation of gravitational waves in association with gamma ray burst can provide a very stringent bound on the spatial curvature of the brain.

Standing Waves Braneworlds

The class of non-stationary braneworld models generated by the coupled gravitational and scalar fields is reviewed. The model represents a brane in a space-time with single time and one large (infinite) and several small (compact) space-like extra dimensions. In some particular cases the model has the solutions corresponding to the bulk gravi-scalar standing waves bounded by the brane. Pure gravitational localization mechanism of matter particles on the node of standing waves, where the brane is placed, is discussed. Cosmological applications of the model also considered.

Geometrical Applications of Split Octonions

It is shown that physical signals and space-time intervals modeled on split-octonion geometry naturally exhibit properties from conventional (3+1)-theory (e.g. number of dimensions, existence of maximal velocities, Heisenberg uncertainty, particle generations, etc.). This paper demonstrates these properties using an explicit representation of the automorphisms on split-octonions, the noncompact form of the exceptional Lie group G2. This group generates specific rotations of (3+4)-vector parts of split octonions with three extra time-like coordinates and in infinitesimal limit imitate standard Poincare transformations. In this picture translations are represented by non-compact Lorentz-type rotations towards the extra time-like coordinates. It is shown how the G2 algebra's chirality yields an intrinsic left-right asymmetry of a certain 3-vector (spin), as well as a parity violating effect on light emitted by a moving quantum system. Elementary particles are connected with the special elements of the algebra which nullify octonionic intervals. Then the zero-norm conditions lead to free particle Lagrangians, which allow virtual trajectories also and exhibit the appearance of spatial horizons governing by mass parameters.

Cosmological parameters from the thermodynamic model of gravity

Within our recent thermodynamic model of gravity the dark energy is identified with the energy of collective gravitational interactions of all particles in the universe, which is missing in the standard treatments. For a simple model universe composed of neutral and charged particles of identical mass we estimate the radiation, baryon and dark energy densities and obtain the values which are very close to the current cosmological observations.

New Class of N-dimensional Braneworlds

The new class of the non-stationary solutions to the system of N-dimensional equations for coupled gravitational and massless scalar field is found. The model represents a single (N-1)-brane in a space-time with one large (infinite) and (N-5) small (compact) space-like extra dimensions. In some particular cases the model corresponds to the gravitational and scalar field standing waves bounded by the brane. These braneworlds can be relevant in string and other higher dimensional models.

On the Dynamics of the Ensemble of Particles in the Thermodynamic Model of Gravity

Within the thermodynamic model of gravity the dark energy is identified with the energy of collective gravitational interactions of all particles in the universe, which is missing in the standard treatments. For the model-universe we estimate the radiation, baryon and dark energy densities and obtain the values which are close to the current observations. It is shown that total gravitational potential of a particle from the world ensemble is a scale dependent quantity and its value is twice of Newtonian potential. The Einstein-Infeld-Hoffmann approximation to general relativity was used to show that the acceleration of a particle from the world ensemble can be considered as a relative quantity when the universe is described by the flat cosmological model.

Split Quaternions and Particles in (2+1)-Space

It is known that quaternions represent rotations in 3D Euclidean and Minkowski spaces. However, product by a quaternion gives rotation in two independent planes at once and to obtain single-plane rotations one has to apply by half-angle quaternions twice from the left and on the right (with its inverse). This 'double cover' property is potential problem in geometrical application of split quaternions, since (2+2)-signature of their norms should not be changed for each product. If split quaternions form proper algebraic structure for microphysics, representation of boosts in (2+1)-space leads to the interpretation of the scalar part of quaternions as wavelength of particles. Invariance of space-time intervals and some quantum behavior, like noncommutativity and fundamental spinor representation, probably also are algebraic properties. In our approach the Dirac equation represents the Cauchy-Riemann analyticity condition and the two fundamental physical parameters (speed of light and Planck's constant) appear from the requirement of positive definiteness of quaternionic norms.

Hierarchy of Fermion Masses in the 5D Standing Wave Braneworld

The localization problem for massive fermions in the 5D standing wave braneworld is considered. The fermion generations on the brane are explained by the existence of three nodes of standing waves in the bulk, where the left and right modes of the 5D fermion are localized and Dirac-type couplings mixes them. We show that in this model the structure of peaks of the left and right fermion wavefunctions in extra dimension leads to the observed mass spectrum of the up and down quark families.

Numerical Solutions in 5D Standing Wave Braneworld

Within the 5D standing wave braneworld model numerical solutions of the equations for matter fields with various spins are found. It is shown that corresponding action integrals are factorizable and convergent over the extra coordinate, i.e. 4D fields are localized on the brane. We find that only left massless fermions are localized on the brane, while the right fermions are localized in the bulk. We demonstrate also quantization of Kaluza-Klein excited modes in our model.

The 5D Standing Wave Braneworld With Real Scalar Field

We introduce the new 5D braneworld with the real scalar field in the bulk. The model represents the brane which bounds collective oscillations of gravitational and scalar field standing waves. These waves are out of phase, i.e. the energy of oscillations passes back and forth between the scalar and gravitational waves. When the amplitude of the standing waves is small the brane width and the size of the horizon in extra space are of a same order of magnitude, and matter fields are localized in extra dimension due to the presence of the horizon. When oscillations are large trapping of matter fields on the brane is provided mainly by the pressure of bulk waves. It is shown that in this case the mass of the lightest KK mode is determined by the smaller energy scale corresponding to the horizon size, i.e. these modes can be created in accelerators at relatively low energies, which gives a chance to check the present model.

Thick Brane Isotropization in a Generalized 5D Anisotropic Standing Wave Braneworld Model

We study a smooth cosmological solution within a generalized 5D standing wave braneworld modeled by gravity and a phantom scalar field. In this model the 3-brane is anisotropically warped along its spatial dimensions and contains a novel time-dependent scale factor that multiplies the anisotropic spatial interval of the 5D metric, a fact that allows us to study cosmological effects. By explicitly solving the bulk field equations we found a natural mechanism which isotropizes the braneworld for a wide class of natural initial conditions. We are able to give a physical interpretation of the anisotropic dissipation: as the anisotropic energy of the 3-brane rapidly leaks into the bulk through the nontrivial components of the projected to the brane non-local Weyl tensor, the bulk becomes less isotropic. At the same time, under the action of the 4D cosmological constant, the anisotropic braneworld super-exponentially isotropizes by itself, rendering a 3-brane with de Sitter symmetry embedded in a 5D de Sitter space-time, while the phantom scalar field exponentially vanishes.

Anisotropic Inflation in a 5D Standing Wave Braneworld and Dimensional Reduction

We investigate a cosmological solution within the framework of a 5D standing wave braneworld model generated by gravity coupled to a massless scalar phantom-like field. By obtaining a full exact solution of the model we found a novel dynamical mechanism in which the anisotropic nature of the primordial metric gives rise to i) inflation along certain spatial dimensions, and ii) deflation and a shrinking reduction of the number of spatial dimensions along other directions. This dynamical mechanism can be relevant for dimensional reduction in string and other higher dimensional theories in the attempt of getting a 4D isotropic expanding space-time.

Localization of Matter Fields in the 5D Standing Wave Braneworld

We investigate the localization problem of matter fields within the 5D standing wave braneworld. In this model the brane emits anisotropic waves into the bulk with different amplitudes along different spatial dimensions. We show that in the case of increasing warp factor there exist the pure gravitational localization of all kinds of quantum and classical particles on the brane. For classical particles the anisotropy of the background metric is hidden, brane fields exhibit standard Lorentz symmetry in spite of anisotropic nature of the primordial 5D metric.

An anisotropic standing wave braneworld and associated Sturm-Liouville problem

We present a consistent derivation of the recently proposed 5D anisotropic standing wave braneworld generated by gravity coupled to a phantom-like scalar field. We explicitly solve the corresponding junction conditions, a fact that enables us to give a physical interpretation to the anisotropic energy-momentum tensor components on the brane. So matter on the brane represents an oscillating fluid which emits anisotropic waves into the bulk. We also analyze the Sturm-Liouville problem associated to the correct localization condition of the transverse to the brane metric and scalar fields. It is shown that this condition restricts the physically meaningful space of solutions for the localization of the fluctuations of the model.

Thermodynamic Gravity and the Schrodinger Equation

We adopt a 'thermodynamical' formulation of Mach's principle that the rest mass of a particle in the Universe is a measure of its long-range collective interactions with all other particles inside the horizon. We consider all particles in the Universe as a 'gravitationally entangled' statistical ensemble and apply the approach of classical statistical mechanics to it. It is shown that both the Schrodinger equation and the Planck constant can be derived within this Machian model of the universe. The appearance of probabilities, complex wave functions, and quantization conditions is related to the discreetness and finiteness of the Machian ensemble.

Anti-de-Sitter Island-Universes from 5D Standing Waves

We construct simple standing wave solutions in a 5D space-time with a ghost scalar field. The nodes of these standing waves are 'islands' of 4D Minkowski space-time. For the 5D model with increasing (decreasing) warp factor there are a finite (infinite) number of nodes and thus Minkowski island-universes having different parameters, such as gravitational and cosmological constants. This feature is similar to the assumptions of the landscape models, which postulate a large number of universes with different parameters. This standing wave solution also provides a new localization mechanism - matter fields can reside only on Minkowski 'islands', where the background space-time does not oscillate.

On the fine structure constant in the Machian universe

Within the Machian model of the universe the dark energy is identified with the Machian energy of collective gravitational interactions of all particles inside the horizon. It is shown that the fine structure constant can be expressed in terms of the observed radiative, baryon and dark energy densities of the universe and the densities of various matter components are interrelated via it.

Standing gravitational waves from domain walls

We construct a plane symmetric, standing gravitational wave for a domain wall plus a massless scalar field. The scalar field can be associated with a fluid which has the properties of `stiff' matter, i.e. matter in which the speed of sound equals the speed of light. Although domain walls are observationally ruled out in the present era the solution has interesting features which might shed light on the character of exact non-linear wave solutions to Einstein's equations. Additionally this solution may act as a template for higher dimensional 'brane-world' model standing waves.

Fermion Generations from "Apple-Shaped" Extra Dimensions

We examine the behavior of fermions in the presence of an internal compact 2-manifold which in one of the spherical angles exhibits a conical character with an obtuse angle. The extra manifold can be pictured as an apple-like surface i.e. a sphere with an extra "wedge" insert. Such a surface has conical singularities at north and south poles. It is shown that for this setup one can obtain, in four dimensions, three trapped massless fermion modes which differ from each other by having different values of angular momentum with respect to the internal 2-manifold. The extra angular momentum acts as the family label and these three massless modes are interpreted as the three generations of fundamental fermions.

Probing Brane-World Scenarios with Vacuum Refraction of Light Using Gamma-Ray Bursts

We argue that in fat brane-world scenarios the light propagating in vacuum will, because of massive ``Kaluza-Klein'' (KK) excitations, experience a refraction. The motion of a photon inside a fat brane can be decomposed in the longitudinal and transverse directions with respect to the surface of the brane. Since the light observable propagation is related only with the longitudinal motion, the observed speed of light depends on the value of the momentum transverse fraction contributing as the massive KK excitations. This is directly connected with the energy of the particles emitting the light, and hence with the frequency of the light itself. Using recent results on the arrival times of radiation of different energies from the measurements of gamma-ray bursters with known redshifts, we establish the limit M>620 TeV on the inverse thickness of the brane, and thus on the masses of the KK excitations. This limit exceeds by at least one order of magnitude the typical energy scale currently in use to characterize brane phenomena in the realm of future colliders.

Octonionic Version of Dirac Equations

It is shown that a simple continuity condition in the algebra of split octonions suffices to formulate a system of differential equations that are equivalent to the standard Dirac equations. In our approach the particle mass and electro-magnetic potentials are part of an octonionic gradient function together with the space-time derivatives. As distinct from previous attempts to translate the Dirac equations into different number systems here the wave functions are real split octonions and not bi-spinors. To formulate positively defined probability amplitudes four different split octonions (transforming into each other by discrete transformations) are necessary, rather then two complex wave functions which correspond to particles and antiparticles in usual Dirac theory.

NEW MECHANISM OF $CP$-VIOLATION IN THE MODELS OF ELECTROWEAK BARYOGENESIS

The new source of $CP$-violation in the frames of "charge transport" mechanism of electroweak baryogenesis is investigated. The consideration is based on the assumption that $C$ and $CP$ need not be violated at the same place, and on the fact that in the case of nonpolarized flux of fermions falling nonperpendicularily on the phase-separating domain wall the transmitted flux will be polarized (i.e. $P$ and $CP$ are violated). Sphaleron processes can convert the ($P$ and $CP$)-asymmetric state into ($C$ and $CP$)-asymmetric one. We argue that the value of $CP$-violation in such mechanism can explain the observed value of Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe even in the frames of the Minimal Standard Model.
