Excited Quarks Production at FCC and S$pp$C $pp$ Colliders

Potential discovery, observation and exclusion limits of excited $u$ and $d$ quarks with gamma+jet final state are researched at the multi-TeV scale colliders, FCC and S$pp$C in this work. Both colliders, FCC and S$pp$C, show that excited $u$ and $d$ quarks could be discovered up to 42.1 TeV and 55.2 TeV for $u^\star$, 30.3 TeV and 39.4 TeV for $d^\star$ and 42.3 TeV and 55.5 TeV mass values for degenerate case (m$_{u^\star}$ = m$_{d^\star}$), respectively. Determination of excited quarks compositeness scale is examined, which will be up to multi-PeV level. Beside these analysis, free parameters ($f_s,\;f\;\text{and}\; f^\prime$) are scanned from around 0.1 up to 1 that show excited quark could be discovered at dozens of TeV with even coupling constants under 0.1.

A new model for the recombination and radiative lifetime of trions and biexcitons in spherically shaped semiconductor nanocrystals

In this letter, we propose a new model to determine the recombination oscillator strength of trions and biexcitons for bound and unbound cases in the effective mass approximation. The validity of our model has been confirmed by the radiative lifetime of the trion and biexciton in a spherical quantum dot. The results show that the model works sufficient accuracy in comparison with results of more complex methods such as quantum monte carlo techniques and atomistic calculations.

The electronic properties of a core/shell/well/shell spherical quantum dot with and without a hydrogenic impurity

In this study, we have performed a detailed investigation of the electronic properties of a core/shell/well/shell multi-layered spherical quantum dot, such as energy eigenvalues, wave functions, electron probability distribution and binding energies. The energy eigenvalues and their wave functions of the considered structure have been calculated for cases with and without an on-center impurity. For this purpose, the Schrödinger equation has been numerically solved by using the shooting method in the effective mass approximation for a finite confining potential. The electronic properties have been examined for different core radii, barrier thickness and well widths in a certain potential. The results have been analyzed in detail as a function of the layer thickness and their physical reasons have been interpreted. It has found that the electronic properties are strongly depending on the layer thickness.

The inter-sublevel optical properties of a spherical quantum dot-quantum well with and without a donor impurity

In this study, we have investigated the inter-sublevel optical properties of a core/shell/well/shell spherical quantum dot with the form of quantum dot-quantum well heterostructure. In order to determine the energy eigenvalues and corresponding wave functions, the Schrödinger equation has been solved full numerically by using shooting method in the effective mass approximation for a finite confining potential. The inter-sublevel optical absorption and the oscillator strength between ground ($1s$) and excited ($1p$) states have been examined based on the computed energies and wave functions. Also, the effect of a hydrogenic donor impurity, located at the center of the multi-shell spherical quantum dot (MSQD), has been researched for different core radii ($R_1$), shell thicknesses ($T_s$) and well widths ($T_w$) in certain potential. It is observed that the oscillator strengths and the absorption coefficients are strongly depend on the core radii and layer thicknesses of the MSQD.

The photoionization cross section of a hydrogenic impurity in a multi-layered spherical quantum dot

In this study, we have investigated the photoionization cross section of an on-center hydrogenic impurity in a multi-layered spherical quantum dot. The electronic energy levels and their wave functions have been determined fully numerically by shooting method. Also, we have calculated the binding energy of the impurity by using these energy values. The photoionization cross section has also been computed as a function of the layer thickness and normalized photon energies. We have discussed in detail the possible physical reasons behind the changes in the binding energies and photoionization cross section. It is observed that both the binding energies and the photoionization cross sections depend strongly on the layer thickness and photon energies.

An arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation for the numerical simulation of flow patterns generated by the hydromedusa \textit{Aequorea victoria}

A new geometrically conservative arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) formulation is presented for the moving boundary problems in the swirl-free cylindrical coordinates. The governing equations are multiplied with the radial distance and integrated over arbitrary moving Lagrangian-Eulerian quadrilateral elements. Therefore, the continuity and the geometric conservation equations take very simple form similar to those of the Cartesian coordinates. The continuity equation is satisfied exactly within each element and a special attention is given to satisfy the geometric conservation law (GCL) at the discrete level. The equation of motion of a deforming body is solved in addition to the Navier-Stokes equations in a fully-coupled form. The mesh deformation is achieved by solving the linear elasticity equation at each time level while avoiding remeshing in order to enhance numerical robustness. The resulting algebraic linear systems are solved using an ILU(k) preconditioned GMRES method provided by the PETSc library. The present ALE method is validated for the steady and oscillatory flow around a sphere in a cylindrical tube and applied to the investigation of the flow patterns around a free-swimming hydromedusa \textit{Aequorea victoria} (crystal jellyfish). The calculations for the hydromedusa indicate the shed of the opposite signed vortex rings very close to each other and the formation of large induced velocities along the line of interaction while the ring vortices moving away from the hydromedusa. In addition, the propulsion efficiency of the free-swimming hydromedusa is computed and its value is compared with values from the literature for several other species. The fluid dynamics video presented here shows the time variation of the instantaneous three-dimensional vorticity isosurfaces around a free-swimming hydromedusa \textit{Aequorea victoria}.

Effect of impurity on the determination of ground-state properties of parabolic quantum dot composed of N electrons

The two dimensional Thomas-Fermi approximation is applied to the problem of parabolic quantum dot composed of N electrons and an on-center impurity. Change induced by impurity on electron density, chemical potential and total energy is discussed and it is found that existence of impurity makes significant changes on the determination of above properties especially for the small number of electrons and strong confinements.
