Extreme Divisors on $\bar{M}_{0,7}$ and Differences over Characteristic 2

We find 101,052 new extreme divisors on $\bar{M}_{0,7}$ (in 31 $S_7$-orbits) and millions of extreme nef curves over characteristic 0. Over characteristic 2, we identify two more $S_7$-orbits of extreme divisors, and prove $\bar{\text{Eff}}^k (\bar{M}_{0,n})$ is strictly larger over characteristic 2 than it is over characteristic 0, for all $1\leq k \leq n-6$. For each such $k$ we provide explicit cycles which are extreme in $\text{Eff}^k(\bar{M}_{0,n})$ over characteristic 2 but external to $\bar{\text{Eff}}^k(\bar{M}_{0,n})$ over characteristic 0. We apply our method of finding new extreme divisors to compute $\text{Eff}(\bar{M}_{0,\mathcal{A}})$ for $\mathcal{A}=(\frac{1}{3}, \frac{1}{3}, \frac{1}{3}, \frac{1}{3}, \frac{1}{3}, \frac{1}{3}, 1)$, proving it is polyhedral over any field, and conjecture a description of $\text{Eff}(\text{Bl}_e \bar{LM}_7)$.

Smoothness and singularities of the perfect form and the second Voronoi compactification of ${\mathcal A}_g$

We study the cones in the first Voronoi or perfect cone decomposition of quadratic forms with respect to the question which of these cones are basic or simplicial. As a consequence we deduce that the singular locus of the moduli stack ${\mathcal A_g^{\mathop{Perf}}}$, the toroidal compactification of the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties of dimension $g$ given by this decomposition, has codimension $10$ if $g \geq 4$. Moreover we describe the non-simplicial locus in codimension $10$. We also show that the second Voronoi compactification ${\mathcal A_{g}^{\mathop{Vor}}}$ has singularities in codimension $3$ for $g\geq 5$.

The hypermetric cone on $8$ vertices and some generalizations

The lists of facets -- $298,592$ in $86$ orbits -- and of extreme rays -- $242,695,427$ in $9,003$ orbits -- of the hypermetric cone $HYP_8$ are computed. The first generalization considered is the hypermetric polytope $HYPP_n$ for which we give general algorithms and a description for $n\le 8$. Then we shortly consider generalizations to simplices of volume higher than $1$, hypermetric on graphs and infinite dimensional hypermetrics.

The joint weight enumerator of an LCD code and its dual

A binary linear code is called {\em LCD} if it intersects its dual trivially. We show that the coefficients of the joint weight enumerator of such a code with its dual satisfy linear constraints, leading to a new linear programming bound on the size of an LCD code of given length and minimum distance. In addition, we show that this polynomial is, in general, an invariant of a matrix group of dimension $4$ and order $12$. Also, we sketch a Gleason formula for this weight enumerator.

New results on torus cube packings and tilings

We consider sequential random packing of integral translate of cubes $[0,N]^n$ into the torus $Z^n / 2NZ^n$. Two special cases are of special interest: (i) The case $N=2$ which corresponds to a discrete case of tilings (considered in \cite{cubetiling,book}) (ii) The case $N=\infty$ corresponds to a case of continuous tilings (considered in \cite{combincubepack,book}) Both cases correspond to some special combinatorial structure and we describe here new developments.

Voronoi Polytopes for Polyhedral Norms on Lattices

A polyhedral norm is a norm N on R^n for which the set N(x)\leq 1 is a polytope. This covers the case of the L^1 and L^{\infty} norms. We consider here effective algorithms for determining the Voronoi polytope for such norms with a point set being a lattice. The algorithms, that we propose, use the symmetries effectively in order to compute a decomposition of the space into convex polytopes named {\em $VN$-spaces}. The Voronoi polytopes and other geometrical information are easily obtained from it.

Plane square tilings

We consider here square tilings of the plane. By extending the formalism introduced in [3] we build a correspondence between plane maps endowed with an harmonic vector and square tilings satisfying a condition of regularity. In the case of periodic plane square tiling the relevant space of harmonic vectors is actually isomorphic to the first homology group of a torus. So, periodic plane square tilings are described by two parameters and the set of parameters is split into angular sectors. The correspondence between symmetry of the square tiling and symmetry of the plane maps and harmonic vectors is discussed and a method for enumerating the regular periodic plane square tilings having r orbits of squares is outlined.

The special cuts of 600-cell

A polytope is called {\em regular-faced} if every one of its facets is a regular polytope. The 4-dimensional regular-faced polytopes were determined by G. Blind and R. Blind \cite{BlBl2,roswitha,roswitha2}. The last class of such polytopes is the one which consists of polytopes obtained by removing a set of non-adjacent vertices (an independent set) of the 600-cell. These independent sets are enumerated up to isomorphism and it is determined that the number of polytopes in this last class is $314,248,344$.
