MadDM v.1.0: Computation of Dark Matter Relic Abundance Using MadGraph5

We present MadDM v.1.0, a numerical tool to compute dark matter relic abundance in a generic model. The code is based on the existing MadGraph 5 architecture and as such is easily integrable into any MadGraph collider study. A simple Python interface offers a level of user-friendliness characteristic of MadGraph 5 without sacrificing functionality. MadDM is able to calculate the dark matter relic abundance in models which include a multi-component dark sector, resonance annihilation channels and co-annihilations. We validate the code in a wide range of dark matter models by comparing the relic density results from MadDM to the existing tools and literature.

Dark Matter in the Coming Decade: Complementary Paths to Discovery and Beyond

In this Report we discuss the four complementary searches for the identity of dark matter: direct detection experiments that look for dark matter interacting in the lab, indirect detection experiments that connect lab signals to dark matter in our own and other galaxies, collider experiments that elucidate the particle properties of dark matter, and astrophysical probes sensitive to non-gravitational interactions of dark matter. The complementarity among the different dark matter searches is discussed qualitatively and illustrated quantitatively in several theoretical scenarios. Our primary conclusion is that the diversity of possible dark matter candidates requires a balanced program based on all four of those approaches.

The NMSSM at the Cosmic Frontier for Snowmass 2013

We examine the NMSSM at the cosmic frontier in the post Higgs discovery world. For DM relic abundance consistent with measurement, we find the neutralino can either be singlino or bino dominated. Wino and higgsino DM generally yield a lower abundance, but offer opportunities of detection at IceCube. For both cases, future SI direct detection experiments cover a majority of the model, including nearly all of the bino and higgsino scenarios.

Multi-lepton signals from the top-prime quark at the LHC

We analyze the collider signatures of models with a vector-like top-prime quark and a massive color-octet boson. The top-prime quark mixes with the top quark in the Standard Model, leading to richer final states than ones that are investigated by experimental collaborations. We discuss the multi-lepton final states, and show that they can provide increased sensitivity to models with a top-prime quark and gluon-prime. Searches for new physics in high multiplicity events are an important component of the LHC program and complementary to analyses that have been performed.

Revisiting Combinatorial Ambiguities at Hadron Colliders with MT2

We present a method to resolve combinatorial issues in multi-particle final states at hadron colliders. The use of kinematic variables such as MT2 and invariant mass significantly reduces combinatorial ambiguities in the signal, but at a cost of losing statistics. We illustrate this idea with gluino pair production leading to 4 jets $+\met$ in the final state as well as $t\bar{t}$ production in the dilepton channel. Compared to results in recent studies, our method provides greater efficiency with similar purity

A Supersymmetric Model with Dirac Neutrino Masses

New models have recently been proposed in which a second Higgs doublet couples only to the lepton doublets and right-handed neutrinos, yielding Dirac neutrino masses. The vacuum value of this second "nu-Higgs" doublet is made very small by means of a very softly-broken $Z_2$ or U(1) symmetry. The latter is technically natural and avoids fine-tuning and very light scalars. We consider a supersymmetric version of this model, in which two additional doublets are added to the MSSM. If kinematically allowed, the decay of the heavy MSSM scalar into charged nu-Higgs scalars will yield dilepton events which can be separated from the W-pair background. In addition, the nu-Higgsinos can lead to very dramatic tetralepton, pentalepton and hexalepton events which have negligible background and can be detected at the LHC and the Tevatron.

Complex Scalar Dark Matter vis-à-vis CoGeNT, DAMA/LIBRA and XENON100

The CoGeNT and DAMA/LIBRA experiments have found evidence for the spin-independent scattering from nuclei of a light dark matter (DM) particle, 7-12 GeV, which is not excluded by the XENON DM experiments. We show that this putative DM signal can be explained by a complex scalar singlet extension of the standard model (CSM), with a thermal cosmological DM density, and a Higgs sector that is consistent with LEP constraints. We make predictions for the masses, production, and decays of the two Higgs mass eigenstates and describe how the Higgs and DM particles can be discovered at the LHC.

Light Higgs Boson, Light Dark Matter and Gamma Rays

A light Higgs boson is preferred by $M_W$ and $m_t$ measurements. A complex scalar singlet addition to the Standard Model allows a better fit to these measurements through a new light singlet dominated state. It then predicts a light Dark Matter (DM) particle that can explain the signals of DM scattering from nuclei in the CoGeNT and DAMA/LIBRA experiments. Annihilations of this DM in the galactic halo, $AA\rightarrow b\bar{b}, c\bar{c}, τ^+τ^-$, lead to gamma rays that naturally improve a fit to the Fermi Large Area Telescope data in the central galactic regions. The associated light neutral Higgs boson may also be discovered at the Large Hadron Collider.

Single top and Higgs associated production at the LHC

We study the production of a Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson in association with a single top quark and either a light jet or $W$-boson at the LHC with a center of mass energy of 14 TeV. Due to the destructive interference of the contributing SM diagrams, the value of the top Yukawa coupling and the sign of the $WWh$ coupling may be probed for Higgs masses above 150 GeV where $WW$ and $ZZ$ are the dominant Higgs decays. We consider Higgs masses of $m_{h}=120$, 150, 180, and 200 GeV and devise experimental cuts to extract the signal from SM backgrounds and measure the top Yukawa coupling.
