Uniform bound of the entanglement for the ground state of the quantum Ising model with large transverse magnetic field

We consider the ground state of the quantum Ising model with transverse field $h$ in one dimension in a finite volume \[ Λ{_{m}:=\{-m,-m+1,\ldots,m+L\}\ .}% \] For $h$ sufficiently large we prove a bound for the entanglement of the interval $Λ_{0}:=\left\{ 0,..,L\right\} $ relative to its complement $Λ_{m}\backslashΛ_{0}$ which is uniform in $m$ and $L$. The bound is established by means of a suitable cluster expansion.

Type transition of simple random walks on randomly directed regular lattices

Simple random walks on a partially directed version of $\mathbb{Z}^2$ are considered. More precisely, vertical edges between neighbouring vertices of $\mathbb{Z}^2$ can be traversed in both directions (they are undirected) while horizontal edges are one-way. The horizontal orientation is prescribed by a random perturbation of a periodic function, the perturbation probability decays according to a power law in the absolute value of the ordinate. We study the type of the simple random walk, i.e.\ its being recurrent or transient, and show that there exists a critical value of the decay power, above which the walk is almost surely recurrent and below which is almost surely transient.

On the Ornstein-Zernike behaviour for the Bernoulli bond percolation on $\mathbb{Z}^{d},d\geq3,$ in the supercitical regime

We prove Ornstein-Zernike behaviour in every direction for finite connection functions of bond percolation on $\mathbb{Z}^{d}$ for $d\geq3$ when $p,$ the probability of occupation of a bond, is sufficiently close to $1.$ Moreover, we prove that equi-decay surfaces are locally analytic, strictly convex, with positive Gaussian curvature.

On the physical relevance of random walks: an example of random walks on a randomly oriented lattice

Random walks on general graphs play an important role in the understanding of the general theory of stochastic processes. Beyond their fundamental interest in probability theory, they arise also as simple models of physical systems. A brief survey of the physical relevance of the notion of random walk on both undirected and directed graphs is given followed by the exposition of some recent results on random walks on randomly oriented lattices. It is worth noticing that general undirected graphs are associated with (not necessarily Abelian) groups while directed graphs are associated with (not necessarily Abelian) $C^*$-algebras. Since quantum mechanics is naturally formulated in terms of $C^*$-algebras, the study of random walks on directed lattices has been motivated lately by the development of the new field of quantum information and communication.
