Full counting statistics in the sine--Gordon model

Full counting statistics (FCS) is a dynamical generalisation of the free energy, encapsulating detailed information about the distribution and large-scale correlation functions of conserved charges and their associated currents. In this work, we present a comprehensive numerical study of the FCS and the cumulants of the three lowest charges across the full parameter space of the sine--Gordon field theory. To this end, we extend the thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz (TBA) formulation of the FCS to the sine--Gordon model, emphasise the methodological subtleties for a reliable numerical implementation, and compare numerical results with analytical predictions in certain limits.

From the sine-Gordon field theory to the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang growth equation

We unveil a remarkable connection between the sine-Gordon quantum field theory and the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) growth equation. We find that the non-relativistic limit of the two point correlation function of the sine-Gordon theory is related to the generating function of the height distribution of the KPZ field with droplet initial conditions, i.e. the directed polymer free energy with two endpoints fixed. As shown recently, the latter can be expressed as a Fredholm determinant which in the large time separation limit converges to the GUE Tracy-Widom cumulative distribution. Possible applications and extensions are discussed.

Interaction quenches in the 1D Bose gas

The non-equilibrium dynamics of integrable systems are special: there is substantial evidence that after a quantum quench they do not thermalize but their asymptotic steady state can be described by a Generalized Gibbs Ensemble (GGE). Most of the studies on the GGE so far have focused on models that can be mapped to quadratic systems while analytic treatment in non-quadratic systems remained elusive. We obtain results on interaction quenches in a non-quadratic continuum system, the 1D Bose gas described by the integrable Lieb-Liniger model. We compute local correlators for a non-interacting initial state and arbitrary final interactions as well as two-point functions for quenches to the Tonks-Girardeau regime. We show that in the long time limit integrability leads to significant deviations from the predictions of the grand canonical ensemble.

Interaction quenches in the Lieb-Liniger model

We obtain exact results on interaction quenches in the 1D Bose gas described by the integrable Lieb-Liniger model. We show that in the long time limit integrability leads to significant deviations from the predictions of the grand canonical ensemble and a description within the generalized Gibbs ensemble (GGE) is needed. For a non-interacting initial state and arbitrary final interactions, we find that the presence of infinitely many conserved charges generates a non-analytic behavior in the equilibrated density of quasimomenta. This manifests itself in a dynamically generated Friedel-like oscillation of the non-local correlation functions with interaction dependent oscillation momenta. We also exactly evaluate local correlations and the generalized chemical potentials within GGE.

On Form Factors in nested Bethe Ansatz systems

We investigate form factors of local operators in the multi-component Quantum Non-linear Schrödinger model, a prototype theory solvable by the so-called nested Bethe Ansatz. We determine the analytic properties of the infinite volume form factors using the coordinate Bethe Ansatz solution and we establish a connection with the finite volume matrix elements. In the two-component models we derive a set of recursion relations for the "magnonic form factors", which are the matrix elements on the nested Bethe Ansatz states. In certain simple cases (involving states with only one spin-impurity) we obtain explicit solutions for the recursion relations.

Exact three-body local correlations for excited states of the 1D Bose gas

We derive an exact analytic expression for the three-body local correlations in the Lieb-Liniger model of 1D Bose gas with contact repulsion. The local three-body correlations control the thermalization and particle loss rates in the presence of terms which break integrability, as is realized in the case of 1D ultracold bosons. Our result is valid not only at finite temperature but also for a large class of non-thermal excited states in the thermodynamic limit. We present finite temperature calculations in the presence of external harmonic confinement within local density approximation, and for a highly excited state that resembles an experimentally realized configuration.

Relativistic Bose-Einstein Condensates: a new system for analogue models of gravity

In this paper we propose to apply the analogy between gravity and condensed matter physics to relativistic Bose-Einstein condensates (RBECs), i.e. condensates composed by relativistic constituents. While such systems are not yet a subject of experimental realization, they do provide us with a very rich analogue model of gravity, characterized by several novel features with respect to their non-relativistic counterpart. Relativistic condensates exhibit two (rather than one) quasi-particle excitations, a massless and a massive one, the latter disappearing in the non-relativistic limit. We show that the metric associated with the massless mode is a generalization of the usual acoustic geometry allowing also for non-conformally flat spatial sections. This is relevant, as it implies that these systems can allow the simulation of a wider variety of geometries. Finally, while in non-RBECs the transition is from Lorentzian to Galilean relativity, these systems represent an emergent gravity toy model where Lorentz symmetry is present (albeit with different limit speeds) at both low and high energies. Hence they could be used as a test field for better understanding the phenomenological implications of such a milder form of Lorentz violation at intermediate energies.
