Massive Nonplanar Two-Loop Maximal Unitarity

We explore maximal unitarity for nonplanar two-loop integrals with up to four massive external legs. In this framework, the amplitude is reduced to a basis of master integrals whose coefficients are extracted from maximal cuts. The hepta-cut of the nonplanar double box defines a nodal algebraic curve associated with a multiply pinched genus-3 Riemann surface. All possible configurations of external masses are covered by two distinct topological pictures in which the curve decomposes into either six or eight Riemann spheres. The procedure relies on consistency equations based on vanishing of integrals of total derivatives and Levi-Civita contractions. Our analysis indicates that these constraints are governed by the global structure of the maximal cut. Lastly, we present an algorithm for computing generalized cuts of massive integrals with higher powers of propagators based on the Bezoutian matrix method.

Scattering Equations and Global Duality of Residues

We examine the polynomial form of the scattering equations by means of computational algebraic geometry. The scattering equations are the backbone of the Cachazo-He-Yuan (CHY) representation of the S-matrix. We explain how the Bezoutian matrix facilitates the calculation of amplitudes in the CHY formalism, without explicitly solving the scattering equations or summing over the individual residues. Since for $n$-particle scattering, the size of the Bezoutian matrix grows only as $(n-3)\times(n-3)$, our algorithm is very efficient for analytic and numeric amplitude computations.

The Polynomial Form of the Scattering Equations is an H-Basis

We prove that the polynomial form of the scattering equations is a Macaulay H-basis. We demonstrate that this H-basis facilitates integrand reduction and global residue computations in a way very similar to using a Gröbner basis, but circumvents the heavy computation of the latter. As an example, we apply the H-basis to prove the conjecture that the dual basis of the polynomial scattering equations must contain one constant term.

Unitarity Cuts of Integrals with Doubled Propagators

We extend the notion of generalized unitarity cuts to accommodate loop integrals with higher powers of propagators. Such integrals frequently arise in for example integration-by-parts identities, Schwinger parametrizations and Mellin-Barnes representations. The method is applied to reduction of integrals with doubled and tripled propagators and direct extract of integral coefficients at one and two loops. Our algorithm is based on degenerate multivariate residues and computational algebraic geometry.

Cross-Order Integral Relations from Maximal Cuts

We study the ABDK relation using maximal cuts of one- and two-loop integrals with up to five external legs. We show how to find a special combination of integrals that allows the relation to exist, and how to reconstruct the terms with one-loop integrals squared. The reconstruction relies on the observation that integrals across different loop orders can have support on the same generalized unitarity cuts and can share global poles. We discuss the appearance of nonhomologous integration contours in multivariate residues. Their origin can be understood in simple terms, and their existence enables us to distinguish contributions from different integrals. Our analysis suggests that maximal and near-maximal cuts can be used to infer the existence of integral identities more generally.

Elliptic Functions and Maximal Unitarity

Scattering amplitudes at loop level can be reduced to a basis of linearly independent Feynman integrals. The integral coefficients are extracted from generalized unitarity cuts which define algebraic varieties. The topology of an algebraic variety characterizes the difficulty of applying maximal cuts. In this work, we analyze a novel class of integrals whose maximal cuts give rise to an algebraic variety with irrational irreducible components. As a phenomenologically relevant example we examine the two-loop planar double-box contribution with internal massive lines. We derive unique projectors for all four master integrals in terms of multivariate residues along with Weierstrass' elliptic functions. We also show how to generate the leading-topology part of otherwise infeasible integration-by-parts identities analytically from exact meromorphic differential forms.

Global Residues and Two-Loop Hepta-Cuts

We examine maximal unitarity in the nonplanar case and derive remarkably compact analytic expressions for coefficients of master integrals with two-loop crossed box topology in massless four-point amplitudes in any gauge theory, thereby providing additional steps towards automated computation of the full amplitude. The coefficients are obtained by assembling residues extracted through integration on linear combinations of higher-dimensional tori encircling global poles of the loop integrand. We recover all salient features of two-loop maximal unitarity, such as the existence of unique projectors for each master integral. Several explicit calculations are provided. We also establish exact equivalence of our results and master integral coefficients recently obtained via integrand-level reduction in any renormalizable gauge theory.

Multivariate Residues and Maximal Unitarity

We extend the maximal unitarity method to amplitude contributions whose cuts define multidimensional algebraic varieties. The technique is valid to all orders and is explicitly demonstrated at three loops in gauge theories with any number of fermions and scalars in the adjoint representation. Deca-cuts realized by replacement of real slice integration contours by higher-dimensional tori encircling the global poles are used to factorize the planar triple box onto a product of trees. We apply computational algebraic geometry and multivariate complex analysis to derive unique projectors for all master integral coefficients and obtain compact analytic formulae in terms of tree-level data.

Bilocal phase operators in beta-deformed super Yang-Mills

We present tree-level scattering amplitudes in beta-deformed super Yang-Mills theory in terms of new generating functions, derived by construction of a phase operator and application thereof to the N = 4 superamplitudes. The technique is explicitly illustrated for the MHV and NMHV sectors. Along these lines we propose a phase representation of the N = 4 superconformal algebra realized on deformed amplitudes in the planar limit. Validity of the MHV vertex expansion is proven and a connection to non-planar multi-loop unitarity cuts is established. Our derivations are also compatible with the related gamma-deformation.
