Self-Adjointness and Domain of the Froehlich Hamiltonian

In the large polaron model of H. Froehlich, the electron-phonon interaction is a small perturbation in form sense, but a large perturbation in operator sense. This means that the form-domain of the Hamiltonian is not affected by the interaction but the domain of self-adjointness is. In the particular case of the Froehlich model, we are nevertheless able, thanks to a recently published new operator bound, to give an explicit characterization of the domain in terms of a suitable dressing transform. Using the mapping properties of this dressing transform, we analyze the smoothness of vectors in the domain of the Hamiltonian with respect to the position of the electron.

Asymptotic completeness for the massless spin-boson model

We consider generalized versions of the massless spin-boson model. Building on the recent work in 'Approach to ground state and time-independent photon bound for massless spin-boson models' (arXiv:1109.5582, Annales H. Poincare, 2012) and 'Propagation bounds and soft photon bounds for the massless spin-boson model' (submitted to arXiv jointly with the present paper), we prove asymptotic completeness.

Unique Solutions to Hartree-Fock Equations for Closed Shell Atoms

In this paper we study the problem of uniqueness of solutions to the Hartree and Hartree-Fock equations of atoms. We show, for example, that the Hartree-Fock ground state of a closed shell atom is unique provided the atomic number $Z$ is sufficiently large compared to the number $N$ of electrons. More specifically, a two-electron atom with atomic number $Z\geq 35$ has a unique Hartree-Fock ground state given by two orbitals with opposite spins and identical spatial wave functions. This statement is wrong for some $Z>1$, which exhibits a phase segregation.

Spectral Renormalization Group and Local Decay in the Standard Model of the Non-relativistic Quantum Electrodynamics

We prove the limiting absorption principle for the standard model of the non-relativistic quantum electrodynamics (QED) and for the Nelson model describing interactions of electrons with phonons. To this end we use the spectral renormalization group technique on the continuous spectrum in conjunction with the Mourre theory.

Spectral Theory for the Standard Model of Non-Relativistic QED

For a model of atoms and molecules made from static nuclei and non-relativistic electrons coupled to the quantized radiation field (the standard model of non-relativistic QED), we prove a Mourre estimate and a limiting absorption principle in a neighborhood of the ground state energy. As corollaries we derive local decay estimates for the photon dynamics, and we prove absence of (excited) eigenvalues and absolute continuity of the energy spectrum near the ground state energy, a region of the spectrum not understood in previous investigations. The conjugate operator in our Mourre estimate is the second quantized generator of dilatations on Fock space.
