Quantum gravity phenomenology at the dawn of the multi-messenger era -- A review

The exploration of the universe has recently entered a new era thanks to the multi-messenger paradigm, characterized by a continuous increase in the quantity and quality of experimental data that is obtained by the detection of the various cosmic messengers (photons, neutrinos, cosmic rays and gravitational waves) from numerous origins. They give us information about their sources in the universe and the properties of the intergalactic medium. Moreover, multi-messenger astronomy opens up the possibility to search for phenomenological signatures of quantum gravity. On the one hand, the most energetic events allow us to test our physical theories at energy regimes which are not directly accessible in accelerators; on the other hand, tiny effects in the propagation of very high energy particles could be amplified by cosmological distances. After decades of merely theoretical investigations, the possibility of obtaining phenomenological indications of Planck-scale effects is a revolutionary step in the quest for a quantum theory of gravity, but it requires cooperation between different communities of physicists (both theoretical and experimental). This review is aimed at promoting this cooperation by giving a state-of-the art account of the interdisciplinary expertise that is needed in the effective search of quantum gravity footprints in the production, propagation and detection of cosmic messengers.

Analytical bound state solutions of the Dirac equation with the Hulthén plus a class of Yukawa potential including a Coulomb-like tensor interaction

We examine the bound state solutions of the Dirac equation under the spin and pseudospin symmetries for a new suggested combined potential, Hulten plus a class of Yukawa potential including a Coulomb-like tensor interaction. An improved scheme is employed to deal with the centrifugal (pseudo-centrifugal) term. Using the Nikiforov-Uvarov and SUSYQM methods, we analytically develop the relativistic energy eigenvalues and associated Dirac spinor components of wave functions. We find that both methods give entirely the same results. Modifiable of our results into some particular potential cases, useful for other physical systems, are also discussed. We obtain complete agreement with the findings of previous works. The spin and pseudospin bound state energy spectra for various levels are presented in the absence as well as the presence of tensor coupling. Both energy spectrums are sensitive with regards to the quantum numbers $κ$ and $n$, as well as the parameter $δ$. We also notice that the degeneracies between Dirac spin and pseudospin doublet eigenstate partners are completely removed by the tensor interaction. Finally, we present the parameter space of allowable bound state regions of potential strength $V_0$ with constants for both considered symmetry limits $C_S$ and $C_{PS}$.

Arbitrary $\ell$-state solutions of the Klein-Gordon equation with the Manning-Rosen plus a Class of Yukawa potentials

Focusing on an improved approximation scheme, we present how to treat the centrifugal and the Coulombic behavior terms and then to obtain the bound state solutions of the Klein-Gordon (KG) equation with the Manning-Rosen plus a Class of Yukawa potentials. By means of the Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) and supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSYQM) methods, we present the energy spectrum for any $\ell$-state and the corresponding radial wave functions in terms of the hypergeometric functions. From both methods we obtain the same results. Several special cases for the potentials which are useful for other physical systems are also discussed. These are consistent with those results in previous works. We obtain that the energy level $E$ is sensitive to the potential parameter $δ$ at fixed values of other parameters and increases when $δ$ runs from $0.05$ to $0.3$. Furthermore, $E$ is sensitive to the quantum numbers $\ell$ and $n_r$ for a given $δ$, as expected.

Neutralino pair production via photon-photon collisions at the ILC

We provide complete one-loop predictions for the direct production of the neutralino pairs via photon-photon collisions which appears for the first time at one-loop level in the minimal supersymmetric standard model at the International Linear Collider. We present a comprehensive investigation of the dependence of total cross section on the center-of-mass energy and the tan$β$ for three different scenarios based on gaugino/Higgsino fractions of the neutralinos. Furthermore, by investigating the behavior with the most relevant parameters $μ$ and $M_2$, we exhibit regions of the parameter space where the enhancement of the cross section is large enough to be detectable at linear colliders. Our analysis shows that the corresponding production cross section reaches its highest values when the lightest neutralino $\widetildeχ_{1}^0$ has a dominant Higgsino component and/or the next-to-lightest neutralino $\widetildeχ_{2}^0$ has a dominant gaugino component.

Search for neutralino pair production at the CERN LHC

We provide the next-to-leading order (NLO) predictions for the neutralino pair production via quark-antiquark annihilation and gluon-gluon fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, focusing on the lightest neutralino which is likely to be the lightest supersymmetric particle. The dependence of total LO, NLO cross sections, and $K$ factor on the center-of-mass energy, the $M_2$-$μ$ mass plane, the squark mass, and the factorization and renormalization scales is comprehensively analyzed for three different scenarios in the minimal supersymmetric standard model and the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model. We find that the LO cross section is considerably increased by the NLO correction, and the $K$ factor value is clearly related to the Higgsino/gaugino mass parameters, the squark mass, and the factorization and renormalization scales.

Electroweak Corrections to the Neutralino Pair Production at CERN LHC

We apply the leading and sub-leading electroweak (EW) corrections to the Drell-Yan process of the neutralino pair production at proton-proton collision, in order to calculate the effects of the these corrections on the neutralino pair production at the LHC. We provide an analysis of the dependence of the Born cross-sections for $pp\rightarrow\widetildeχ_{i}^{0}\widetildeχ_{j}^{0}$ and the EW corrections to this process, on the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s$, on the $M_2$-$μ$ mass plane and on the squark mass for the three different scenarios. The numerical results show that the relative correction can be reached the few tens of percent level as the increment of the center-of-mass energy, and the evaluation of EW corrections is a crucial task for all accurate measurements of the neutralino pair production processes.

Single Neutralino Production at the LHC

We consider that the direct production of a single neutralino in proton-proton collision at the CERN Large Hadron Collider focusing on the lightest neutralino is possibly a candidate for the dark matter and escapes detection. We present a comprehensive investigation of the dependence of total cross sections of the processes $pp(q\bar q)\rightarrow\widetildeχ_{i}^{0}\widetilde{\text{g}}$, $pp(q \text{g}) \rightarrow\widetildeχ_{i}^{0}\widetilde{q}_{L,R}$, $pp(q\bar{q}^{\prime})\rightarrow\widetildeχ_{i}^{0}\widetildeχ_{j}^{+}$ at tree-level and $pp(\text{g}\text{g})\rightarrow\widetildeχ_{i}^{0}\widetilde{\text{g}}$ at one-loop level, on the center-of-mass energy, on the $M_2$-$μ$ mass plane, on the squark mass and on the $\tanβ$ for the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and the three extremely different scenarios in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. In particular, the cross section of the process $p p \to \widetildeχ_{2}^{0}\widetildeχ_{1}^{+}$ in the gaugino-like scenario can reach about 0.6 (1.7) pb at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=$ 7 (14) TeV. We derive therefrom that our results might lead to new aspects corresponding to experimental explorations, and these dependencies might be used as bases of experimental research of the single neutralino production at hadron colliders.
