Measurement of the Lepton Forward-Backward Asymmetry in B→Xsℓ+ℓ−B \rightarrow X_s \ell^+ \ell^- Decays with a Sum of Exclusive Modes

We report the first measurement of the lepton forward-backward asymmetry AFB{\cal A}_{\rm FB} as a function of the squared four-momentum of the dilepton system, q2q^2, for the electroweak penguin process B→Xsℓ+ℓ−B \rightarrow X_s \ell^+ \ell^- with a sum of exclusive final states, where ℓ\ell is an electron or a muon and XsX_s is a hadronic recoil system with an ss quark. The results are based on a data sample containing 772×106772\times10^6 BBˉB\bar{B} pairs recorded at the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e−e^+ e^- collider. AFB{\cal A}_{\rm FB} for the inclusive B→Xsℓ+ℓ−B \rightarrow X_s \ell^+ \ell^- is extrapolated from the sum of 10 exclusive XsX_s states whose invariant mass is less than 2 GeV/c2c^2. For q2>10.2q^2 > 10.2 GeV2^2/c2c^2, AFB<0{\cal A}_{\rm FB} < 0 is excluded at the 2.3σσ level, where σσ is the standard deviation. For q2<4.3q^2 < 4.3 GeV2^2/c2c^2, the result is within 1.8σσ of the Standard Model theoretical expectation.

Angular analysis of B0→ϕK∗B^0 \to ϕK^{*} decays and search for CP violation at Belle

We report the measurements of branching fractions and CP violation asymmetries in B0→ϕK∗B^0 \to ϕK^{*} decays obtained in an angular analysis using the full data sample of 772×106BBˉ772 \times 10^6 B\bar{B} pairs collected at the Υ(4S)Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+ e^- collider. We perform a partial wave analysis to distinguish among scalar [B0→ϕ(Kπ)0∗B^0 \to ϕ(Kπ)^{*}_{0}], vector [B0→ϕK∗(892)0B^0 \to ϕK^{*}(892)^{0}] and tensor [B0→ϕK2∗(1430)0B^0 \to ϕK^{*}_{2}(1430)^{0}] components, and determine the corresponding branching fractions to be B[B0→ϕ(Kπ)0∗]=(4.3±0.4±0.4)×10−6\mathcal{B}[B^0 \to ϕ(Kπ)^{*}_{0}] = (4.3 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.4) \times 10^{-6}, B[B0→ϕK∗(892)0]=(10.4±0.5±0.6)×10−6\mathcal{B}[B^0 \to ϕK^{*}(892)^{0}] = (10.4 \pm 0.5 \pm 0.6) \times 10^{-6} and B[B0→ϕK2∗(1430)0]=(5.5−0.7+0.9±1.0)×10−6\mathcal{B}[B^0 \to ϕK^{*}_{2}(1430)^{0}] = (5.5 ^{+0.9}_{-0.7} \pm 1.0) \times 10^{-6}. We also measure the longitudinal polarization fraction fLf_L in B0→ϕK∗(892)0B^0 \to ϕK^{*}(892)^{0} and B0→ϕK2∗(1430)0B^0 \to ϕK^{*}_{2}(1430)^{0} decays to be 0.499±0.030±0.0180.499 \pm 0.030 \pm 0.018 and 0.918−0.060+0.029±0.0120.918 ^{+0.029}_{-0.060} \pm 0.012, respectively. The first quoted uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. In total, we measure 26 parameters related to branching fractions, polarization and CP violation in the B0→ϕK∗B^0 \to ϕK^{*} system. No evidence for CP violation is found.

Evidence for B- -> Ds+ K- l- nubar and search for B- -> Ds*+ K- l- nubar

We report measurements of the decays B- -> Ds(*)+ K- l- nubar in a data sample containing 657x10^6 BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. We observe a signal with a significance of 6 sigma for the combined Ds and Ds* modes and find the first evidence of the B- -> Ds+ K- l- nubar decay with a significance of 3.4 sigma. We measure the following branching fractions: BF(B- -> Ds+ K- l nubar) = (0.30 +/- 0.09(stat) +0.11 -0.08(syst)) x 10^-3 and BF(B- -> Ds*+ K- l- nubar) = (0.59 +/- 0.12(stat) +/- 0.15(syst)) x 10^-3 and set an upper limit BF(B- -> Ds*+ K- l- nubar) < 0.56 x 10^-3 at the 90% confidence level. We also present the first measurement of the Ds+K- invariant mass distribution in these decays, which is dominated by a prominent peak around 2.6 GeV/c^2.

Study of the Hadronic Transitions ΥΥ(2S)→(η,π0)Υ\rightarrow (η,π^0)Υ(1S) at Belle

We study the rare hadronic transitions Υ(2S)→Υ(1S)ηΥ(2S)\rightarrow Υ(1S)η and Υ(2S)→Υ(1S)π0Υ(2S)\rightarrow Υ(1S)π^0 using a sample of 158 ×106\times 10^6 Υ(2S)Υ(2S) decays collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e−e^+ e^- collider. We observe the ηη meson decay to γγγγ and π+π−π0π^+π^-π^0 final states; the Υ(1S)Υ(1S) is reconstructed in the μ+μ−μ^+μ^- and e+e−e^+e^- decay modes. We measure the ratios of branching fractions (B{\mathcal B}) B(Υ(2S)→Υ(1S)η)B(Υ(2S)→Υ(1S)π+π−)\frac{{\mathcal B}(Υ(2S)\rightarrowΥ(1S)η)}{{\mathcal B}(Υ(2S)\rightarrowΥ(1S)π^+π^-)} = (1.99±\pm0.14 (stat) ±\pm0.11 (syst)) ×10−3\times 10^{-3} and B(Υ(2S)→Υ(1S)π0)B(Υ(2S)→Υ(1S)π+π−)<2.3×10−4\frac{{\mathcal B}(Υ(2S)\rightarrowΥ(1S)π^0)}{{\mathcal B}(Υ(2S)\rightarrowΥ(1S)π^+π^-)} < 2.3 \times 10^{-4} at the 90% confidence level (CL). Assuming the value B(Υ(2S)→Υ(1S)π−π+){\mathcal B}(Υ(2S) \rightarrow Υ(1S)π^-π^+) = (17.92±\pm0.26)%, we obtain B(Υ(2S)→Υ(1S)η)=(3.57±0.25(stat) ±0.21(syst))×10−4 {\mathcal B}(Υ(2S)\rightarrowΥ(1S)η) = (3.57 \pm 0.25 ({\rm stat})\ \pm 0.21 ({\rm syst}))\times 10^{-4} and $ {\mathcal B}(Υ(2S)\rightarrowΥ(1S)π^0) < 4.1\times 10^{-5}\ ({\rm 90%\ CL}). $

Study of Three-Body Y(10860) Decays

We report preliminary results on the analysis of the three-body Y(10860)=> B barB pi, Y(10860) => (B barB* + c.c.) pi and Y(10860)=> B* barB* pi decays including an observation of the Y(10860)=> Zb(10610)+- pi-+ => [B barB*+c.c]+- pi-+ and Y(10860)=> Zb(10650)+- pi-+ => [B* barB*]+- pi-+ decays as intermediate channels. We measure branching fractions of the three-body decays to be Br(Y(10860)=> [B barB*+c.c.]+- pi-+)=(28.3+-2.9+-4.6)x10^{-3} and Br(Y(10860)=> [B* barB*]+- pi-+)=(14.1+-1.9+-2.4)x10^{-3} and set 90% C.L. upper limit Br(Y(10860)=> [B barB]+- pi-+)<4.0x10^{-3}. We also report results on the amplitude analysis of the three-body Y(10860)=>Y(nS)pi+pi-, n=1,2,3 decays and the analysis of the internal structure of the three-body Y(10860)=>hb(mP)pi+pi-, m=1,2 decays. The results are based on a 121.4 1/fb data sample collected with the Belle detector at a center-of-mass energy near the Y(10860).
