Comment on "Dirac fermions in Som-Raychaudhuri space-time with scalar and vector potential and the energy momentum distributions"

We point out a misleading treatment and incorrect expressions in a recent paper published in this Journal [Eur. Phys. J. C (2019) 79: 541] regarding solutions for the Dirac equation in presence of scalar and vector potentials in a class of flat Gödel-type space-time called Som-Raychaudhuri space-time. Following the appropriate procedure we obtain the solution for this system.

Comment on "Comment on linear confinement of a scalar particle in a Gödel-type space-time"

We show that from an appropriate manipulation of the biconfluent Heun differential equation can obtain the correct expression for the energy eigenvalues for the Klein-Gordon equation without potential in the background of Som-Raychaudhuri space-time with a cosmic string as a case particular ($k_{L}=0$) of [Vitória et al. Eur. Phys. J. C (2018) 78:44], in opposition what was stated in a recent paper published in this journal [F. Ahmed, Eur. Phys. J. C (2019) 79:682].

Scalar bosons with Coulomb potentials in a cosmic string background: Scattering and bound states

The relativistic quantum motion of scalar bosons under the influence of a full vector (minimal $A^μ$ and nonminimal $X^μ$) and scalar ($V_{s}$) interactions embedded in the background of a cosmic string is explored in the context of the Klein-Gordon equation. Considering Coulomb interactions, the effects of this topological defect in equation of motion, phase shift and S-matrix are analyzed and discussed. Bound-state solutions are obtained from poles of the S-matrix and it is shown that bound-state solutions are possible only for a restrict range of coupling constants.

Missing solution in a relativistic Killingbeck potential

Missing bound-state solutions for fermions in the background of a Killingbeck radial potential including an external magnetic and Aharonov-Bohm (AB) flux fields are examined. The correct quadratic form of the Dirac equation with vector and scalar couplings under the spin and pseudo-spin symmetries is showed and also we point out a misleading treatment in the literature regarding to bound-state solutions for this problem.

Noninertial effects on the quantum dynamics of scalar bosons

The noninertial effect of rotating frames on the quantum dynamics of scalar bosons embedded in the background of a cosmic string is considered. In this work, scalar bosons are described by the Duffin--Kemmer--Petiau (DKP) formalism. Considering the DKP oscillator in this background the combined effects of a rotating frames and cosmic string on the equation of motion, energy spectrum and DKP spinor are analyzed and discussed in detail. Additionally, the effect of rotating frames on the scalar bosons localization is studied.

Fermions in the background of mixed vector-scalar-pseudoscalar square potentials

The general Dirac equation in 1+1 dimensions with a potential with a completely general Lorentz structure is studied. Considering mixed vector-scalar-pseudoscalar square potentials, the states of relativistic fermions are investigated. This relativistic problem can be mapped into a effective Schrödinger equation for a square potential with repulsive and attractive delta-functions situated at the borders. An oscillatory transmission coefficient is found and resonant state energies are obtained. In a special case, the same bound energy spectrum for spinless particles is obtained, confirming the predictions of literature. We showed that existence of bound-state solutions are conditioned by the intensity of the pseudoscalar potential, which posses a critical value.

Non extensive thermodynamics and neutron star properties

In the present work we apply non extensive statistics to obtain equations of state suitable to describe stellar matter and verify its effects on microscopic and macroscopic quantities. Two snapshots of the star evolution are considered and the direct Urca process is investigated with two different parameter sets. $q$-values are chosen as 1.05 and 1.14. The equations of state are only slightly modified, but the effects are enough to produce stars with slightly higher maximum masses. The onsets of the constituents are more strongly affected and the internal stellar temperature decreases with the increase of the $q$-value, with consequences on the strangeness and cooling rates of the stars.

Pseudospin and spin symmetries in 1+1 dimensions: The case of the Coulomb potential

The problem of fermions in 1+1 dimensions in the presence of a pseudoscalar Coulomb potential plus a mixing of vector and scalar Coulomb potentials which have equal or opposite signs is investigated. We explore all the possible signs of the potentials and discuss their bound-state solutions for fermions and antifermions. We show the relation between spin and pseudospin symmetries by means of charge-conjugation and $γ^{5}$ chiral transformations. The cases of pure pseudoscalar and mixed vector-scalar potentials, already analyzed in previous works, are obtained as particular cases. The results presented can be extended to 3+1 dimensions.

Quantum dynamics of a spin-1/2 charged particle in the presence of magnetic field with scalar and vector couplings

The quantum dynamics of a spin-1/2 charged particle in the presence of magnetic field is analyzed for the general case where scalar and vector couplings are considered. The energy spectra are explicitly computed for different physical situations, as well as their dependencies on the magnetic field strength, spin projection parameter and vector and scalar coupling constants.

Quantum dynamics of scalar bosons in a cosmic string background

The quantum dynamics of scalar bosons embedded in the background of a cosmic string is considered. In this work, scalar bosons are described by the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP) formalism. In particular, the effects of this topological defect in the equation of motion, energy spectrum and DKP spinor are analyzed and discussed in details. The exact solutions for the DKP oscillator in this background are presented in a closed form.

Relativistic quantum dynamics of neutral particle in external electric fields: An approach on effects of spin

The planar quantum dynamics of spin-1/2 neutral particle interacting with electrical fields is considered. A set of first order differential equations are obtained directly from the planar Dirac equation with nonminimum coupling. New solutions of this system, in particular, for the Aharonov-Casher effect, are found and discussed in detail. Pauli equation is also obtained by studying the motion of the particle when it describes a circular path of constant radius. We also analyze the planar dynamics in the full space, including the $r=0$ region. The self-adjoint extension method is used to obtain the energy levels and wave functions of the particle for two particular values for the self-adjoint extension parameter. The energy levels obtained are analogous to the Landau levels and explicitly depend on the spin projection parameter.

Mass radius relation of compact stars in the braneworld

The braneworld scenario, based on the fact that the four dimension space-time is a hyper-surface of a five dimensional manifold, was shown to deal in a satisfactory way with the hierarchy problem. In this work we study macroscopic stellar properties of compact stars from the braneworld point of view. Using neutron star equations of state, we test the possibility of extra dimensions by solving the brane Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations obtained for three kinds of possible compact objects: hadronic, hybrid and quark stars. By comparing the macroscopic solutions with observational constraints, we establish a brane tension lower limit and the value for which the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations in the braneworld converge to the usual Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff equations.

Quark matter subject to strong magnetic fields: phase diagram and applications

In the present work we are interested in understanding various properties of quark matter subject to strong magnetic fields described by the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with Polyakov loop. We start by analysing the differences arising from two different vector interactions in the Lagrangian densities, at zero temperature, and apply the results to stellar matter. We then investigate the position of the critical end point for different chemical potential and density scenarios.

Quasi-exactly-solvable confining solutions for spin-1 and spin-0 bosons in (1+1)-dimensions with a scalar linear potential

We point out a misleading treatment in the recent literature regarding confining solutions for a scalar potential in the context of the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau theory. We further present the proper bound-state solutions in terms of the generalized Laguerre polynomials and show that the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions depend on the solutions of algebraic equations involving the potential parameter and the quantum number.

Remarks on the spin-one Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau equation in the presence of nonminimal vector interactions in (3+1) dimensions

We point out a misleading treatment in the recent literature regarding analytical solutions for nonminimal vector interaction for spin-one particles in the context of the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP) formalism. In those papers, the authors use improperly the nonminimal vector interaction endangering in their main conclusions. We present a few properties of the nonminimal vector interactions and also present the correct equations to this problem. We show that the solution can be easily found by solving Schrödinger-like equations. As an application of this procedure, we consider spin-one particles in presence of a nonminimal vector linear potential.

Repulsive Vector Interaction in Three Flavor Magnetized Quark and Stellar Matter

The effect of the vector interaction on three flavor magnetized matter is studied within the SU(3) Nambu--Jona-Lasiono quark model. We have considered cold matter under a static external magnetic field within two different models for the vector interaction in order to investigate how the form of the vector interaction and the intensity of the magnetic field affect the equation of state as well as the strangeness content. It was shown that the flavor independent vector interaction predicts a smaller strangeness content and, therefore, harder equations of state. On the other hand, the flavor dependent vector interaction favors larger strangeness content the larger the vector coupling. We have confirmed that at low densities the magnetic field and the vector interaction have opposite competing effects: the first one softens the equation of state while the second hardens it. Quark stars and hybrid stars subject to an external magnetic field were also studied. Larger star masses are obtained for the flavor independent vector interaction. Hybrid stars may bare a core containing deconfined quarks if neither the vector interaction nor the magnetic field are too strong. Also, the presence of strong magnetic fields seems to disfavor the existence of a quark core in hybrid stars.

Fermion localization on branes with generalized dynamics

In this letter we consider a specific model of braneworld with nonstandard dynamics diffused in the literature, specifically we focus our attention on the matter energy density, the energy of system, the Ricci scalar and the thin brane limit. As the model is classically stable and capable of localize gravity, as a natural extension we address the issue of fermion localization of fermions on a thick brane constructed out from one scalar field with nonstandard kinetic terms coupled with gravity. The contribution of the nonstandard kinetic terms in the problem of fermion localization is analyzed. It is found that the simplest Yukawa coupling $η\barΨϕΨ$ support the localization of fermions on the thick brane. It is shown that the zero mode for left-handed can be localized on the thick brane depending on the values for the coupling constant $η$.

Effect of the variation of mass on fermion localization on thick branes

In a recent paper published in this journal, Zhao and collaborators [Phys. Rev. D \textbf{82}, 084030 (2010)] analyze a toy model of thick branes generated by a real scalar field with the potential $V(ϕ)=aϕ^{2}-bϕ^{4}+cϕ^{6}$, and investigate the variation of the mass parameter $a$ on the branes as well as the localization and resonances of fermions. In that research the simplest Yukawa coupling $η\barΨϕΨ$ was considered. In that work does not analyze the zero mode in details and also contains some misconceptions. In this paper, the effect of the variation of the mass parameter $a$ on the brane is reinvestigated and it is associated to the phenomenon of brane splitting. Furthermore, it is shown that the zero mode for the left-handed fermions can be localized on the brane depending on the values for the coupling constant $η$ and the mass parameter $a$.

On the Dirac equation with PT-symmetric potentials in the presence of position-dependent mass

The relativistic problem of fermions subject to a PT-symmetric potential in the presence of position-dependent mass is reinvestigated. The influence of the PT-symmetric potential in the continuity equation and in the orthonormalization condition are analyzed. In addition, a misconception diffused in the literature on the interaction of neutral fermions is clarified.
