Controllability results for stochastic coupled systems of fourth- and second-order parabolic equations

In this paper, we study some controllability and observability problems for stochastic systems coupling fourth- and second-order parabolic equations. The main goal is to control both equations with only one controller localized on the drift of the fourth-order equation. We analyze two cases: on one hand, we study the controllability of a linear backward system where the couplings are made only through first-order terms. The key point is to use suitable Carleman estimates for the heat equation and the fourth-order operator with the same weight to deduce an observability inequality for the adjoint system. On the other hand, we study the controllability of a simplified nonlinear coupled model of forward equations. This case, which is well-known to be harder to solve, follows a methodology that has been introduced recently and relies on an adaptation of the well-known source term method in the stochastic setting together with a truncation procedure. This approach gives a new concept of controllability for stochastic systems.

Rates of convergence for the number of zeros of random trigonometric polynomials

In this paper, we quantify the rate of convergence between the distribution of number of zeros of random trigonometric polynomials (RTP) with i.i.d. centered random coefficients and the number of zeros of a stationary centered Gaussian process G, whose covariance function is given by the sinc function. First, we find the convergence of the RTP towards G in the Wasserstein-1 distance, which in turn is a consequence of Donsker Theorem. Then, we use this result to derive the rate of convergence between their respective number of zeros. Since the number of real zeros of the RTP is not a continuous function, we use the Kac-Rice formula to express it as the limit of an integral and, in this way, we approximate it by locally Lipschitz continuous functions.

An Osgood's criterion for a semilinear stochastic differential equation

The purpose of this paper is to give an Osgood's criterion for solutions of semilinear stochastic differential equations of the form $X_{t}=ξ+\int_{0}^{t}b(s,X_{s})ds+\int_{0}^{t}σ(s)X_{s}dW_{s},\ t\geq 0$. Here, $b$ is a non-negative, non-decreasing by components and continuous random field and $σ$ is a predictable and continuous process. Also we present a generalization of the so-called Feller's test whenever $σ\equiv 1$.
