Ultrahigh-Energy Gamma-ray Emission Associated with Black Hole-Jet Systems

Black holes (BH), one of the most intriguing objects in the universe, can manifest themselves through electromagnetic radiation initiated by the accretion flow. Some stellar-mass BHs drive relativistic jets when accreting matter from their companion stars, forming microquasars. Non-thermal emission from the radio to tera-electronvolt (TeV) gamma-ray band has been observed from microquasars, indicating the acceleration of relativistic particles. Here we report detection of four microquasars (SS 433, V4641 Sgr, GRS 1915+105, MAXI J1820+070) of spectrum extending to the ultrahigh-energy (UHE; photon energy $E>100$ TeV) band and one microquasar (Cygnus X-1) of spectrum approaching 100 TeV, using the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). Notably, the total emission associated with SS 433 cannot be interpreted with a single leptonic component. In the UHE band, its emission is in spatial coincidence with a giant atomic cloud, which is consistent with a hadronic origin. An elongated source is discovered from V4641 Sgr with the spectrum continuing up to 800 TeV. The detection of UHE gamma rays demonstrates that accreting BHs and their environments can operate as extremely efficient accelerators of particles out of 1 peta-electronvolt (PeV), suggesting microquasars to be important contributors to Galactic cosmic rays especially around the `knee' region.

An efficient and high-resolution topology optimization method based on convolutional neural networks

2. In Section 3, we used some vague statements to affirm the training process of the neural network, which cannot support others to reproduce the results of the paper. In addition, this section does not show the difference between this paper and other work, nor does it reflect innovation. 3. In Section 5, the numerical examples are not compared with other multi-resolution methods, which is not enough to explain the superiority of the method proposed in this paper. Figure 10 also fails to show that this method is significantly improved compared to the traditional method. Thanks for your understanding. Topology optimization is a pioneering design method that can provide various candidates with high mechanical properties. However, the high-resolution for the optimum structures is highly desired, normally in turn leading to computationally intractable puzzle, especially for the famous Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) method. In this paper, we introduce the Super-Resolution Convolutional Neural Network (SRCNN) technique into topology optimization framework to improve the resolution of topology solutions with extremely high computational efficiency. Additionally, a pooling strategy is established to balance the number of finite element analysis (FEA) and the output mesh in optimization process. Considering the high training cost of 3D neural networks, several 2D neural networks are combined to deal with 3D topology optimization design problems. The combined treatment method used in 3D topology optimization design eliminates the expense of retraining 3D convolutional neural network and guarantees the quality of 3D design. Some typical examples justify that the high-resolution topology optimization method adopting SRCNN has excellent applicability and high efficiency.

Cross-Layer Scheduling for OFDMA-based Cognitive Radio Systems with Delay and Security Constraints

This paper considers the resource allocation problem in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) based cognitive radio (CR) network, where the CR base station adopts full overlay scheme to transmit both private and open information to multiple users with average delay and power constraints. A stochastic optimization problem is formulated to develop flow control and radio resource allocation in order to maximize the long-term system throughput of open and private information in CR system and ensure the stability of primary system. The corresponding optimal condition for employing full overlay is derived in the context of concurrent transmission of open and private information. An online resource allocation scheme is designed to adapt the transmission of open and private information based on monitoring the status of primary system as well as the channel and queue states in the CR network. The scheme is proven to be asymptotically optimal in solving the stochastic optimization problem without knowing any statistical information. Simulations are provided to verify the analytical results and efficiency of the scheme.

Anisotropy as a Probe of the Galactic Cosmic Ray Propagation and the Galactic Halo Magnetic Field

The anisotropy of cosmic rays (CRs) in the solar vicinity is generally at- tributed to the CR streaming due to the discrete distribution of CR sources or local magnetic field modulation. Recently, the two dimensional large scale CR anisotropy has been measured by many experiments in TeV-PeV energy range in both hemispheres. The tail-in excess along the tangential direction of the local spiral arm and the loss cone deficit pointing to the north Galactic pole direction agree with what have been obtained in tens to hundreds of GeV. The persistence of the two large scale anisotropy structures in such a wide range of energy suggests that the anisotropy might be due to a global streaming of the Galactic CRs (GCRs). This work tries to extend the observed CR anisotropy picture from solar system to the whole galaxy. In such a case, we can find a new interesting signature, a loop of GCR streaming, of the GCR propagation. We further calculate the overall GCR streaming induced magnetic field, and find a qualitative consistence with the observed structure of the halo magnetic field.
