Sign-changing solutions for the sinh-Poisson equation with Robin Boundary condition

Given $ε\in (0,1)$ and $λ> 1$, we address the existence of solutions for the Sinh-Poisson equation with Robin boundary value condition $$ \begin{cases} Δu+ε^2 (e^{u} - e^{-u})=0 &\mbox{in }Ω\\ \frac{\partial u}{\partialν}+λu=0 &\mbox{on }\partialΩ, \end{cases} $$ where $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^2$ is a bounded smooth domain. We prove two existence results under a suitable relation between $ε$ small and $λ$ large. When $Ω$ is symmetric with respect to an axis, we prove the existence of a family of solutions $u_{ε,λ}$ concentrating at two points with different spin, both located on the symmetry line and close to the boundary. In the second result, we assume $Ω$ is not simply connected and we construct sign-changing solutions concentrating at points located close to the boundary, each of them on a different connected component of the boundary.

Sobolev versus Hölder local minimizers in degenerate Kirchhoff type problems

In this paper we study the geometry of certain functionals associated to quasilinear elliptic boundary value problems with a degenerate nonlocal term of Kirchhoff type. Due to the degeneration of the nonlocal term it is not possible to directly use classical results such as uniform a-priori estimates and "Sobolev versus Hölder local minimizers" type of results. We prove that results similar to these hold true or not, depending on how degenerate the problem is. We apply our findings in order to show existence and multiplicity of solutions for the associated quasilinear equations, considering several different interactions between the nonlocal term and the nonlinearity.

Local minimizers in spaces of symmetric functions and applications

We study $H^1$ versus $C^1$ local minimizers for functionals defined on spaces of symmetric functions, namely functions that are invariant by the action of some subgroups of $\mathcal{O}(N)$. These functionals, in many cases, are associated with some elliptic partial differential equations that may have supercritical growth. So we also prove some results on classical regularity for symmetric weak solutions for a general class of semilinear elliptic equations with possibly supercritical growth. We then apply these results to prove the existence of a large number of classical positive symmetric solutions to some concave-convex elliptic equations of Hénon type.
