Entanglement harvesting of three Unruh-DeWitt detectors

We analyze a tripartite entanglement harvesting protocol with three Unruh-DeWitt detectors adiabatically interacting with a quantum scalar field. We consider linear, equilateral triangular, and scalene triangular configurations for the detectors. We find that, under the same parameters, more entanglement can be extracted in the linear configuration than the equilateral one, consistent with single instantaneous switching results. No bipartite entanglement is required to harvest tripartite entanglement. Furthermore, we find that tripartite entanglement can be harvested even if one detector is at larger spacelike separations from the other two than in the corresponding bipartite case. We also find that for small detector separations bipartite correlations become larger than tripartite ones, leading to an apparent violation of the Coffman-Kundu-Wootters (CKW) inequality. We show that this is not a consequence of our perturbative expansion but that it instead occurs because the harvesting qubits are in a mixed state.

Instant Extraction of Non-Perturbative Tripartite Entanglement

We consider the problem of extracting tripartite entanglement through single local instantaneous interactions of a separable target system A-B-C with a scalar field. We find, non-perturbatively, that tripartite entanglement is easily extracted in this scenario, in strong contrast to bipartite extraction, which is not possible due to a no-go theorem. The tripartite entanglement is of the GHZ-type, and an optimal value of the coupling exists that admits maximal extraction.

Entanglement harvesting with coherently delocalized matter

We study entanglement harvesting for matter systems such as atoms, ions or molecules, whose center of mass degrees of freedom are quantum delocalized and which couple to a relativistic quantum field. We employ a generalized Unruh-deWitt detector model for the light-matter interaction, and we investigate how the coherent spreading of the quantum center of mass wave function of two delocalized detector systems impacts their ability to become entangled with one another, via their respective interaction with a quantum field. For very massive detectors with initially highly localized centers of mass, we recover the results of entanglement harvesting for pointlike Unruh-deWitt detectors with classical center of mass degrees of freedom. We find that entanglement harvesting is Gaussian suppressed in the initial center of mass delocalization of the detectors. We further find that spatial smearing profiles, which are commonly employed to model the finite size of atoms due to their atomic orbitals, are not suited to model center of mass delocalization. Finally, for coherently delocalized detectors, we compare entanglement harvesting in the vacuum to entanglement harvesting in media. We find that entanglement harvesting is significantly suppressed in media in which the wave propagation speed is much smaller than the vacuum speed of light.

The BTZ black hole exhibits anti-Hawking phenomena

The Unruh effect is a surprising prediction of quantum field theory that asserts accelerating observers perceive a thermal spectrum of particles with a temperature proportional to their acceleration. However, it has recently been shown that particle detectors can click less often or even cool down as their acceleration increases, in contrast to the heating one would expect. This leads to the so called anti-Unruh phenomena. Here we consider detectors outside a BTZ black hole and demonstrate the existence of black hole analogues of these effects, which we dub anti-Hawking phenomena.

Gauss-Bonnet Boson Stars with a Single Killing Vector

We construct asymptotically anti-de Sitter boson stars in Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity coupled to a $\frac{D-1}{2}$-tuplet of complex massless scalar fields both perturbatively and numerically in D=5,7,9,11 dimensions. These solutions possess just a single helical Killing symmetry due to the choice of scalar fields. The energy density at the centre of the star characterizes the solutions, and for each choice of the Gauss-Bonnet coupling $α$ we obtain a one parameter family of solutions. All solutions respect the first law of thermodynamics; in the numerical case to within 1 part in $10^6$. We describe the dependence of the angular velocity, mass, and angular momentum of the boson stars on $α$ and on the dimensionality. For D>5, these quantities exhibit damped oscillations about finite central values as the central energy density tends to infinity, where the amplitude of oscillation increases nonlinearly with $α$. In the limit of diverging central energy density, the Kretschmann invariant at the centre of the boson star also diverges. This is in contrast to the D=5 case, where the Kretschmann invariant diverges at a finite value of the central energy density.

Numerical Boson Stars with a Single Killing Vector I: the $D\ge5$ Case

We numerically construct asymptotically anti-de Sitter boson star solutions using a minimally coupled $\frac{D-1}{2}$-tuplet complex scalar field in $D=5,7,9,11$ dimensions. The metric admits multiple Killing vector fields in general, however the scalar fields are only invariant under a particular combination, leading to such boson star solutions possessing just a single helical Killing symmetry. These boson stars form a one parameter family of solutions, which can be parametrized by the energy density at their center. As the central energy density tends to infinity, the angular velocity, mass, and angular momentum of the boson star exhibit damped harmonic oscillations about finite central values, while the Kretschmann invariant diverges, signaling the formation of a black hole in this limit.
