Regge phenomenology and coherent photoproduction of charmonium in peripheral heavy ion collisions

By using models based on Regge phenomenology we analyse the coherent photoproduction of charmonium in peripheral heavy-ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The centrality dependence is investigated and compared to the experimental results for coherent $J/ψ$ production in lead-lead LHC runs at the energies of 2.76 and 5.02 TeV. Theoretical uncertainties and possible limitations of the formalism are also discussed.

The reggeometric pomeron and exclusive production of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(2S)$ in ultraperipheral collisions at the LHC

By using a Regge-pole model for vector meson production (VMP), successfully describing the HERA data, we analyse the correlation between VMP cross sections in photon-induced reactions at HERA and those in ultra-peripheral collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The rapidity distributions of proton-proton collisions at 13~TeV and lead-lead collisions at 2.76 and 5.02 TeV are investigated. The transverse momentum distribution in nuclear coherent vector meson production is also addressed. Predictions for future experiments on production of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(2S)$ are presented.

Exclusive Diffractive Resonance Production in Proton-Proton Collisions at the LHC

A model for exclusive diffractive resonance production in proton-proton collisions at LHC energies is presented. This model is based on the convolution of the Donnachie-Landshoff parameterisation of Pomeron flux in the proton with the Pomeron cross section for resonance production. The hadronic cross section for f$_{0}$(980) and f$_{2}$(1270) production at midrapidity is given differentially in mass and transverse momentum of the resonance. The proton fractional longitudinal momentum loss is presented.

Extracting the Odderon from $pp$ and $\bar pp$ scattering data

Starting from a simple empirical parametrization of the scattering amplitude, successfully describing the dip-bump structure of elastic $pp$ scattering in $t$ at fixed values of $s$, we construct a toy model interpolating between missing energy gaps to extract the Odderon contribution from the difference between $\bar pp$ and $pp$ elastic and total cross sections. The model is fitted to data from $\sqrt s=23.5$ GeV to 7 TeV and used to extract the Odderon and its ratio to the Pomeron.

Scalar perturbations in cosmological models with quark nuggets

In this paper we consider the Universe at the late stage of its evolution and deep inside the cell of uniformity. At these scales, the Universe is filled with inhomogeneously distributed discrete structures (galaxies, groups and clusters of galaxies). Supposing that a small fraction of colored objects escaped hadronization and survived up to now in the form of quark-gluon nuggets (QNs), and also taking into account radiation, we investigate scalar perturbations of the FRW metrics due to inhomogeneities of dustlike matter as well as fluctuations of QNs and radiation. In particular, we demonstrate that the nonrelativistic gravitational potential is defined by the distribution of inhomogeneities/fluctuations of both dustlike matter and QNs. Consequently, QNs can be distributed around the baryonic inhomogeneities (e.g., galaxies) in such a way that it can solve the problem of the flatness of the rotation curves. We also show that the fluctuations of radiation are caused by both the inhomogeneities in the form of galaxies and the fluctuations of quark-gluon nuggets. Therefore, if QNs exist, the CMB anisotropy should contain also the contributions from QNs. Additionally, the spatial distribution of the radiation fluctuations is defined by the gravitational potential. All these results look physically reasonable.

Dark matter and dark energy from quark bag model

We calculate the present expansion of our Universe endowed with relict colored objects - quarks and gluons - that survived hadronization either as isolated islands of quark-gluon "nuggets", or spread uniformly in the Universe. In the first scenario, the QNs can play the role of dark matter. In the second scenario, we demonstrate that uniform colored objects can play the role of dark energy providing the late-time accelerating expansion of the Universe.

Low missing mass, single- and double diffraction dissociation at the LHC

Low missing mass, single- and double diffraction dissociation is calculated for the LHC energies from a dual-Regge model, dominated by a Pomeron Regge pole exchange. The model reproduces the rich resonance structure in the low missing mass Mx region. The diffractionly excited states lie on the nucleon trajectory, appended by the isolated Roper resonance. Detailed predictions for the squared momentum transfer and missing mass dependence of the differential and integrated single- and double diffraction dissociation in the kinematical range of present and future LHC measurements are given. The model predicts a possible turn-down of the cross section towards, t -> 0 in a region probably accessible in future experiments in the nearly forward direction. The present work is a continuation and extension (e.g. with double diffraction) of a previous work using the dual Regge approach.
