Central charge criticality of charged AdS black hole surrounded by different fluids

We analyze the extended phase space thermodynamics of Kiselev black hole introducing a central charge and allowing the gravitational constant to vary. We also discuss the relation between the chemical potential and the size of the black hole, besides the new description of phase transitions. We obtain as a conclusion that the universality of the central charge does not remain valid in general.

Gauge embedding procedure: classical and quantum equivalence between dual models

In this paper the gauge embedding procedure of dualization is reassessed through a deeper analysis of the mutual equivalence of vector field models of more generic forms, explicitly, a general modified massive gauge-breaking extension of electrodynamics and its dual gauge-invariant model we derive in the paper. General relations between the vector field propagators and interaction terms of these models are obtained. Further, these models are shown to be equivalent at tree-level and one-loop physical calculations. Finally, we discuss extension of this equivalence to all loop orders.

One-loop calculations in CPT-even Lorentz-breaking scalar QED

In this paper, we study a CPT-even Lorentz-breaking extension of the scalar QED. For this theory, we calculate the one-loop lower-order contributions in the Lorentz-violating parameters to the two-point functions of scalar and gauge fields. We found that the two background tensors, coming from the two sectors (scalar and gauge) are mixed in the one-loop corrections both in finite and divergent parts. This shows that these two Lorentz-breaking terms cannot be studied in an isolated form. Besides, the results in the gauge sector are confirmed to be transversal.

Extended Metastable Dark Energy

The metastable dark energy scenario is revisited by assuming that the current false vacuum energy density is the remnant from a primeval inflationary stage. The zero temperature scalar field potential is here described by an even power series up to order six which depends on 3 free parameters: the mass of the scalar field ($m$), the dimensionless ($λ$) specifying the standard self-interaction term, and a free cutoff mass scale ($M$) quantifying all possible deviations from the degenerate false vacuum state. The current $Λ$CDM model is a consequence of the very long decay time of the false vacuum which although finite is much greater than the current age of the Universe. This result remains valid for arbitrary combinations of the $m/M$ ratio which can analytically be determined in the thin-wall approximation and numerically calculated outside this limit. Unlike many claims in the literature the vacuum dominance may be temporary. The finiteness of the decay time suggests that the ultimate stage of the observed Universe in such a scenario will not be driven by a de Sitter type cosmology.

No radiative corrections to the Carroll-Field-Jackiw term beyond one-loop order

We demonstrate explicitly the absence of the quantum corrections to the Carroll-Field-Jackiw (CFJ) term beyond one-loop within the Lorentz-breaking CPT-odd extension of QED. The proof holds within two prescriptions of quantum calculations, with the axial vector in the fermion sector {}treated either as a perturbation or as a contribution in the exact propagator of the fermion field.

Dual embedding of extended models with a Lorentz-breaking mass term

In this paper, we investigate a CPT-even model with a Lorentz-violating mass term. Such kind of models may present very interesting features like superluminal modes of propagation or even instantaneous long-range interactions. The mass term we investigate can be induced at classical or quantum level in a scenario with spontaneous gauge symmetry breaking in a gauge-Higgs model without Lorentz symmetry. We analyze the physical consistency of the model by studying the poles of the propagator. By using the Noether Dualization Method (NDM), we obtain a gauge invariant dual theory for this model. The physical equivalence between the two models is investigated and a general relation between the two propagators is obtained.

Ambiguities in the gravitational correction of quantum electrodynamics

We verify that quadratic divergences stemming from gravitational corrections to QED which have been conjectured to lead to asymptotic freedom near Planck scale are arbitrary (regularization dependent) and compatible with zero. Moreover we explicitly show that such arbitrary term contributes to the beta function of QED in a gauge dependent way in the gravitational sector.

Aspects of Quantum Corrections in a Lorentz-violating Extension of the Abelian Higgs Model

We investigate new aspects related to the abelian gauge-Higgs model with the addition of the Carroll-Field-Jackiw term. We focus on one-loop quantum corrections to the photon and Higgs sectors due to spontaneous breaking of gauge symmetry and show that new finite and definite Lorentz-breaking terms are induced. Specifically in the gauge sector, a CPT-even aether term is induced. Besides, aspects of the one-loop renormalization of the background vector dependent terms are discussed.

Quantum gravitational contributions to the beta function of quantum electrodynamics

We show in a diagrammatic and regularization independent analysis that the quadratic contribu- tion to the beta function which has been conjectured to render quantum electrodynamics asymp- totically free near the Planck scale has its origin in a surface term. Such surface term is intrinsically arbitrarily valued and it is argued to vanish in a consistent treatment of the model.

Multiloop calculations with Implicit Regularization in massless theories

We establish a systematic way to calculate multiloop amplitudes of infrared safe massless models with Implicit Regularization (IR), with a direct cancelation of the fictitious mass introduced by the procedure. The ultraviolet content of such amplitudes have a simple structure and its separation permits the identification of all the potential symmetry violating terms, the surface terms. Moreover, we develop a technique for the calculation of an important kind of finite multiloop integral which seems particularly convenient to use Feynman parametrization. Finally, we discuss the Implicit Regularization of infrared divergent amplitudes, showing with an example how it can be dealt with an analogous procedure in the coordinate space.

Ultraviolet and Infrared Divergences in Implicit Regularization: a Consistent Approach

Implicit Regularization is a 4-dimensional regularization initially conceived to treat ultraviolet divergences. It has been successfully tested in several instances in the literature, more specifically in those where Dimensional Regularization does not apply. In the present contribution we extend the method to handle infrared divergences as well. We show that the essential steps which rendered Implicit Regularization adequate in the case of ultraviolet divergences have their counterpart for infrared ones. Moreover we show that a new scale appears, typically an infrared scale which is completely independent of the ultraviolet one. Examples are given.

Systematization of Basic Divergent Integrals in Perturbation Theory and Renormalization Group Functions

We show that to n loop order the divergent content of a Feynman amplitude is spanned by a set of basic (logarithmically divergent) integrals which need not be evaluated. Only the coefficients of the basic divergent integrals are necessary to determine renormalization group functions. Relations between these coefficients of different loop orders are derived.
