Neutrino dispersion in external magnetic fields

We calculate the neutrino self-energy operator Sigma (p) in the presence of a magnetic field B. In particular, we consider the weak-field limit e B << m_\ell^2, where m_\ell is the charged-lepton mass corresponding to the neutrino flavor ν_\ell, and we consider a "moderate field" m_\ell^2 << e B << m_W^2. Our results differ substantially from the previous literature. For a moderate field, we show that it is crucial to include the contributions from all Landau levels of the intermediate charged lepton, not just the ground-state. For the conditions of the early universe where the background medium consists of a charge-symmetric plasma, the pure B-field contribution to the neutrino dispersion relation is proportional to (e B)^2 and thus comparable to the contribution of the magnetized plasma.

Mass Shift of Axion in Magnetic Field

A mass-shift of the axion propagating in an external constant homogenious magnetic field is calculated. The contributions via an electron loop and a virtual photon are examined. It is shown that the virtual photon contribution dominates substantially over the electron-loop one. Under the conditions of the early Universe the electron-loop contribution to the massless axion mass-shift is equal to zero while the virtual photon contribution is finite and can be of order of the recent restrictions on the axion mass.

About an influence of external electromagneticfields on the axion decays

Some results of an external electromagnetic field influence on axion decays are presented. It is shown that the field catalyzes substantially these processes. The result describing the axion decay $a \to f \tilde f$ we have obtained can be of use to re-examine the lower limit on the axion mass in case of possible existence of strong magnetic fields at the early Universe stage.

Neutrino transitions nu -> nu gamma, nu -> nu e+ e- in a strong magnetic field as a possible origin of cosmological gamma-burst

The high energy neutrino transitions with the photon and electron-positron pair creation in a strong magnetic field in the framework of the Standard Model are investigated. The process probabilities and the mean values of the neutrino energy and momentum loss are presented. The asymmetry of outgoing neutrinos, as a possible source of sufficient recoil ``kick'' velocity of a remnant and the emission of e+ e- pairs and gamma-quanta in a ``polar cap'' region of a remnant, as a possible origin of cosmological gamma-burst are discussed.
