AdS solutions and λλ-deformations

We elevate λλ-deformed σσ-models into full type-II supergravity backgrounds. We construct several solutions which contain undeformed AdSnAdS_n spaces, with n=2,3,4n=2,3,4 and 66, as an integrable part. In that respect, our examples are the first in the literature in this context and bring λλ-deformations in contact with the AdS/CFT correspondence. The geometries are supported by appropriate dilaton and RR-fields. Most of the solutions admit non-Abelian T-dual limits.

Integrable λλ-deformations of the Euclidean black string

Non-trivial outer algebra automorphisms may be utilized in λλ-deformations of (gauged) WZW models thus providing an efficient way to construct new integrable models. We provide two such integrable deformations of the exact coset CFT SU(2)k×U(1)/U(1)qSU(2)_k\times U(1)/U(1)_q with a vector and axial residual gauge. Besides the integer level kk and the deformation parameter λλ, these models are characterized by the embedding parameter qq of the U(1)U(1) factor. We show that an axial-vector T-duality persists along the deformations and, therefore, the models are canonically equivalent. We demonstrate integrability even though the space is non-symmetric and compute the RGRG-flow equations for the parameters λλ and qq. Our example provides an integrable deformation of the gravitational solution representing a Euclidean three-dimensional black string.

RG flows of integrable σσ-models and the twist function

In the study of integrable non-linear σσ-models which are assemblies and/or deformations of principal chiral models and/or WZW models, a rational function called the twist function plays a central role. For a large class of such models, we show that they are one-loop renormalizable, and that the renormalization group flow equations can be written directly in terms of the twist function in a remarkably simple way. The resulting equation appears to have a universal character when the integrable model is characterized by a twist function.

A free field perspective of λλ-deformed coset CFT's

We continue our study of λλ-deformed σσ-models by setting up a 1/k1/k perturbative expansion around the free field point for cosets, in particular for the λλ-deformed SU(2)/U(1)SU(2)/U(1) coset CFT. We construct an interacting field theory in which all deformation effects are manifestly encoded in the interaction vertices. Using this we reproduce the known ββ-function and the anomalous dimension of the composite operator perturbing away from the conformal point. We introduce the λλ-dressed parafermions which have an essential Wilson-like phase in their expressions. Subsequently, we compute their anomalous dimension, as well as their four-point functions, as exact functions of the deformation and to leading order in the kk expansion. Correlation functions with an odd number of these parafermions vanish as in the conformal case.

An exact symmetry in λλ-deformed CFTs

We consider λλ-deformed current algebra CFTs at level kk, interpolating between an exact CFT in the UV and a PCM in the IR. By employing gravitational techniques, we derive the two-loop, in the large kk expansion, ββ-function. We find that this is covariant under a remarkable exact symmetry involving the coupling λλ, the level kk and the adjoint quadratic Casimir of the group. Using this symmetry and CFT techniques, we are able to compute the Zamolodchikov metric, the anomalous dimension of the bilinear operator and the Zamolodchikov CC-function at two-loops in the large kk expansion, as exact functions of the deformation parameter. Finally, we extend the above results to λλ-deformed parafermionic algebra coset CFTs which interpolate between exact coset CFTs in the UV and a symmetric coset space in the IR.

Asymmetric CFTs arising at the IR fixed points of RG flows

We construct a generalization of the cyclic λλ-deformed models of \cite{Georgiou:2017oly} by relaxing the requirement that all the WZW models should have the same level kk. Our theories are integrable and flow from a single UV point to different IR fixed points depending on the different orderings of the WZW levels kik_i. First we calculate the Zamolodchikov's C-function for these models as exact functions of the deformation parameters. Subsequently, we fully characterize each of the IR conformal field theories. Although the corresponding left and right sectors have different symmetries, realized as products of current and coset-type symmetries, the associated central charges are precisely equal, in agreement with the valuesobtained from the C-function.

Strong integrability of λλ-deformed models

We study the notion of strong integrability for classically integrable λλ-deformed CFTs and coset CFTs. To achieve this goal we employ the Poisson brackets of the spatial Lax matrix which we prove that it assumes the Maillet r/sr/s-matrix algebra. As a consequence the system in question are integrable in the strong sense. Furthermore, we show that the derived Maillet r/sr/s-matrix algebras can be realized in terms of twist functions, at the poles of which we recover the underlying symmetry algebras.

All-loop anomalous dimensions in integrable λλ-deformed σσ-models

We calculate the all-loop anomalous dimensions of current operators in λλ-deformed σσ-models. For the isotropic integrable deformation and for a semi-simple group GG we compute the anomalous dimensions using two different methods. In the first we use the all-loop effective action and in the second we employ perturbation theory along with the Callan-Symanzik equation and in conjunction with a duality-type symmetry shared by these models. Furthermore, using CFT techniques we compute the all-loop anomalous dimensions of bilinear currents for the isotropic deformation case and a general GG. Finally we work out the cases of anisotropic SU(2)SU(2) and the two coupling, corresponding to the symmetric coset G/HG/H and a subgroup HH, splitting of a group GG.

All-loop correlators of integrable λλ-deformed σσ-models

We compute the 2- and 3-point functions of currents and primary fields of λλ-deformed integrable σσ-models characterized also by an integer kk. Our results apply for any semisimple group GG, for all values of the deformation parameter λλ and up to order 1/k1/k. We deduce the OPEs and equal-time commutators of all currents and primaries. We derive the currents' Poisson brackets which assume Rajeev's deformation of the canonical structure of the isotropic PCM, the underlying structure of the integrable λλ-deformed σσ-models. We also present analogous results in two limiting cases of special interest, namely for the non-Abelian T-dual of the PCM and for the pseudodual model.

Composition of many spins, random walks and statistics

The multiplicities of the decomposition of the product of an arbitrary number nn of spin ss states into irreducible SU(2)SU(2) representations are computed. Two complementary methods are presented, one based on random walks in representation space and another based on the partition function of the system in the presence of a magnetic field. The large-nn scaling limit of these multiplicities is derived, including nonperturbative corrections, and related to semiclassical features of the system. A physical application of these results to ferromagnetism is explicitly worked out. Generalizations involving several types of spins, as well as spin distributions, are also presented. The corresponding problem for (anti-)symmetric composition of spins is also considered and shown to obey remarkable duality and bosonization relations and exhibit qualitatively different large-nn scaling properties.

Generalised integrable λλ- and ηη-deformations and their relation

We construct two-parameter families of integrable λλ-deformations of two-dimensional field theories. These interpolate between a CFT (a WZW/gauged WZW model) and the non-Abelian T-dual of a principal chiral model on a group/symmetric coset space. In examples based on the SU(2)SU(2) WZW model and the SU(2)/U(1)SU(2)/U(1) exact coset CFT, we show that these deformations are related to bi-Yang-Baxter generalisations of ηη-deformations via Poisson-Lie T-duality and analytic continuation. We illustrate the quantum behaviour of our models under RG flow. As a byproduct we demonstrate that the bi-Yang-Baxter σσ-model for a general group is one-loop renormalisable.

Integrable λλ-deformations: Squashing Coset CFTs and AdS5×S5AdS_5\times S^5

We examine integrable λλ-deformations of SO(n+1)/SO(n)SO(n+1)/SO(n) coset CFTs and their analytic continuations. We provide an interpretation of the deformation as a squashing of the corresponding coset σσ-model's target space. We realise the λλ-deformation for n=5n=5 case as a solution to supergravity supported by non-vanishing five-form and dilaton. This interpolates between the coset CFT SO(4,2)/SO(4,1)×SO(6)/SO(5)SO(4,2)/SO(4,1)\times SO(6)/SO(5) constructed as a gauged WZW model and the non-Abelian T-dual of the AdS5×S5AdS_5\times S^5 spacetime.

Spacetimes for λ-deformations

We examine a recently proposed class of integrable deformations to two-dimensional conformal field theories. These λ-deformations interpolate between a WZW model and the non-Abelian T-dual of a Principal Chiral Model on a group G or, between a G/H gauged WZW model and the non-Abelian T-dual of the geometric coset G/H. λ-deformations have been conjectured to represent quantum group q-deformations for the case where the deformation parameter is a root of unity. In this work we show how such deformations can be given an embedding as full string backgrounds whose target spaces satisfy the equations of type-II supergravity. One illustrative example is a deformation of the Sl(2,R)/U(1) black-hole CFT. A further example interpolates between the SU(2)×SU(2)SU(2)×SL(2,R)×SL(2,R)SL(2,R)×U(1)4\frac{SU(2)\times SU(2)}{SU(2)}\times\frac{SL(2,R)\times SL(2,R)}{SL(2,R)} \times U(1)^4 gauged WZW model and the non-Abelian T-dual of AdS3×S3×T4AdS_3\times S^3\times T^4 supported with Ramond flux.

The classical Yang-Baxter equation and the associated Yangian symmetry of gauged WZW-type theories

We construct the Lax-pair, the classical monodromy matrix and the corresponding solution of the Yang--Baxter equation, for a two-parameter deformation of the Principal chiral model for a simple group. This deformation includes as a one-parameter subset, a class of integrable gauged WZW-type theories interpolating between the WZW model and the non-Abelian T-dual of the principal chiral model. We derive in full detail the Yangian algebra using two independent methods: by computing the algebra of the non-local charges and alternatively through an expansion of the Maillet brackets for the monodromy matrix. As a byproduct, we also provide a detailed general proof of the Serre relations for the Yangian symmetry.
