Basic Topological Concepts and a Construction of Real Numbers in Alternative Set Theory

Alternative set theory (AST) may be suitable for the ones who try to capture objects or phenomenons with some kind of indefiniteness of a border. While AST provides various notions for advanced mathematical studies, correspondence of them to that of conventional ones are not fully developed. This paper presents basic topological concepts in AST, and shows their correspondence with those of conventional ones, and isomorphicity of a system of real numbers in AST to that of conventional ones.

Real Functions and its Differentiation in Alternative Set Theory

In the previous paper (Kiri Sakahara and Takashi Sato. Basic Topological Concepts and a Construction of Real Numbers in Alternative Set Theory. arXiv e-prints, arXiv:2005.04388, May 2020), the authors displayed basic topological concepts and a construction of a system of real number in alternative set theory (AST). The present paper is a continuation of that research providing additional treatments of real functions. The basic properties of differentiation in AST are preserved as in the conventional calculus.

Existence of equilibria in quantum Bertrand-Edgeworth duopoly game

Both classical and quantum version of two models of price competition in duopoly market, the one is realistic and the other is idealized, are investigated. The pure strategy Nash equilibria of the realistic model exists under stricter condition than that of the idealized one in the classical form game. This is the problem known as Edgeworth paradox in economics. In the quantum form game, however, the former converges to the latter as the measure of entanglement goes to infinity.

Uniqueness of Nash equilibria in quantum Cournot duopoly game

A quantum Cournot game of which classical form game has multiple Nash equilibria is examined. Although the classical equilibria fail to be Pareto optimal, the quantum equilibrium exhibits the following two properties, (i) if the measurement of entanglement between strategic variables chosen by the competing firms is sufficiently large, the multiplicity of equilibria vanishes, and, (ii) the more strongly the strategic variables are entangled, the more closely the unique equilibrium approaches to the optimal one.
