A Discontinuous Coarse Spaces (DCS) Algorithm for Cell Centered Finite Volumes based Domain Decomposition Methods: the DCS-RJMin algorithm

In this paper, we introduce a new coarse space algorithm, the "Discontinuous Coarse Space Robin Jump Minimizer" (DCS-RJMin), to be used in conjunction with one-level domain decomposition methods (DDM). This new algorithm makes use of Discontinuous Coarse Spaces(DCS), and is designed for DDM that naturally produce discontinuous iterates such as Optimized Schwarz Methods(OSM). This algorithm is suitable both at the continuous level and for cell-centered finite volume discretizations. At the continuous level, we prove, under some conditions on the parameters of the algorithm, that the difference between two consecutive iterates goes to $0$. We also provide numerical results illustrating the convergence behavior of the DCS-RJMin algorithm.

Cross-Points in Domain Decomposition Methods with a Finite Element Discretization

Non-overlapping domain decomposition methods necessarily have to exchange Dirichlet and Neumann traces at interfaces in order to be able to converge to the underlying mono-domain solution. Well known such non-overlapping methods are the Dirichlet-Neumann method, the FETI and Neumann-Neumann methods, and optimized Schwarz methods. For all these methods, cross-points in the domain decomposition configuration where more than two subdomains meet do not pose any problem at the continuous level, but care must be taken when the methods are discretized. We show in this paper two possible approaches for the consistent discretization of Neumann conditions at cross-points in a Finite Element setting.

Weak solutions to the Landau-Lifshitz-Maxwell system with nonlinear Neumann boundary conditions arising from surface energie

We study the Landau-Lifshitz system associated with Maxwell equations in a bilayered ferromagnetic body when super-exchange and surface anisotropy interactions are present in the spacer in-between the layers. In the presence of these surface energies, the Neumann boundary condition becomes nonlinear. We prove, in three dimensions, the existence of global weak solutions to the Landau-Lifshitz-Maxwell system with nonlinear Neumann boundary conditions.

A Discontinuous Galerkin like Coarse Space correction for Domain Decomposition Methods with continuous local spaces : the DCS-DGLC Algorithm

In this paper, we are interested in scalable Domain Decomposition Methods (DDM). To this end, we introduce and study a new Coarse Space Correction algorithm for Optimized Schwarz Methods(OSM) : the DCS-DGLC algorithm. The main idea is to use a Discontinuous Galerkin like formulation to compute a discontinuous coarse space correction. While the local spaces remain continuous, the coarse space should be discontinuous to compensate the discontinuities introduced by the OSM at the interface between neighboring subdomains. The discontinuous coarse correction algorithm can not only be used with OSM but also be used with any one-level DDM that produce discontinuous iterates. While ideas from Discontinuous Galerkin(DG) are used in the computation of the coarse correction, the final aim of the DCS-DGLC algorithm is to compute in parallel the discrete solution to the classical non-DG finite element problem.

Homogenization at different linear scales, bounded martingales and the Two-Scale Shuffle limit

In this paper, we consider two-scale limits obtained with increasing homogenization periods, each period being an entire multiple of the previous one. We establish that, up to a measure preserving rearrangement, these two-scale limits form a martingale which is bounded: the rearranged two-scale limits themselves converge both strongly in $\mathrm{L}^2$ and almost everywhere when the period tends to $+\infty$. This limit, called the Two-Scale Shuffle limit, contains all the information present in all the two-scale limits in the sequence.
