Greatest Common Divisors on the Complement of Numerically Parallel Divisors

We prove inequalities involving greatest common divisors of functions at integral points with respect to numerically parallel divisors, generalizing a result of Wang and Yasufuku (after work of Bugeaud-Corvaja-Zannier, Corvaja-Zannier, and the second author). After applying a result of Vojta on integral points on subvarieties of semiabelian varieties, we use geometry and the theory of heights to reduce to the (known) case of $\mathbb{G}_m^n$. In addition to proving results in a broader context than previously considered, we also study the exceptional set in this setting, for both the counting function and the proximity function.

Uniform Bounds for Periods of Endomorphisms of Varieties

Suppose $X$ is a projective variety defined over a finite extension $K$ of $\mathbb{Q}_p$ and suppose $X$ admits a model $\mathcal{X}$ defined over the ring of integers $R$ of $K$. Let $f:{X}\rightarrow {X}$ be an endomorphism of $X$ defined over $K$ that can be extended to an endomorphism of $\mathcal{X}$ defined over $R$. We apply a method of Fakhruddin to prove an explicit upper bound for the primitive period of periodic points defined over $R$.

A Gap Principle for Subvarieties with Finitely Many Periodic Points

Let $f:X\rightarrow X$ be a quasi-finite endomorphism of an algebraic variety $X$ defined over a number field $K$ and fix an initial point $a\in X$. We consider a special case of the dynamical Mordell-Lang Conjecture, where the subvariety $V$ contains only finitely many periodic points and does not contain any positive-dimensional periodic subvariety. We show that the set $\{n\in \mathbb{N}~|~f^n(a) \in V \}$ satisfies a strong gap principle.
