Invariant quantum measure on $q$-deformed twisted adjoint orbits

Let $U$ be a compact semisimple Lie group with complexification $G$ and associated Cartan involution $Θ$. Let $ν$ be an involutive complex Lie group automorphism of $G$ commuting with $Θ$, and consider the associated semisimple real Lie group $G_ν = \{g\in G\mid ν(g) = Θ(g)\}$. We consider $q$-deformed analogues of the $U$-orbits of the quotient space $G_ν\backslash G$, and determine for these the associated von Neumann algebra and invariant state.

Quantum flag manifolds, quantum symmetric spaces and their associated universal K-matrices

Let $U$ be a connected, simply connected compact Lie group with complexification $G$. Let $\mathfrak{u}$ and $\mathfrak{g}$ be the associated Lie algebras. Let $Γ$ be the Dynkin diagram of $\mathfrak{g}$ with underlying set $I$, and let $U_q(\mathfrak{u})$ be the associated quantized universal enveloping $*$-algebra of $\mathfrak{u}$ for some $0<q$ distinct from $1$. Let $\mathcal{O}_q(U)$ be the coquasitriangular quantized function Hopf $*$-algebra of $U$, whose Drinfeld double $\mathcal{O}_q(G_{\mathbb{R}})$ we view as the quantized function $*$-algebra of $G$ considered as a real algebraic group. We show how the datum $ν= (τ,ε)$ of an involution $τ$ of $Γ$ and a $τ$-invariant function $ε: I \rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ can be used to deform $\mathcal{O}_q(G_{\mathbb{R}})$ into a $*$-algebra $\mathcal{O}_q^{ν,\mathrm{id}}(G_{\mathbb{R}})$ by a modification of the Drinfeld double construction. We then show how, by a generalized theory of universal $K$-matrices, a specific $*$-subalgebra $\mathcal{O}_q(G_ν\backslash \backslash G_{\mathbb{R}})$ of $\mathcal{O}_q^{ν,\mathrm{id}}(G_{\mathbb{R}})$ admits $*$-homomorphisms into both $U_q(\mathfrak{u})$ and $\mathcal{O}_q(U)$, the images being coideal $*$-subalgebras of respectively $U_q(\mathfrak{u})$ and $\mathcal{O}_q(U)$. We illustrate the theory by showing that two main classes of examples arise by such coideals, namely quantum flag manifolds and quantum symmetric spaces (except possibly for certain exceptional cases). In the former case this connects to work of the first author and Neshveyev, while for the latter case we heavily rely on recent results of Balagović and Kolb.

Free actions of compact quantum group on unital C*-algebras

Let F be a field, G a finite group, and Map(G,F) the Hopf algebra of all set-theoretic maps G->F. If E is a finite field extension of F and G is its Galois group, the extension is Galois if and only if the canonical map resulting from viewing E as a Map(G,F)-comodule is an isomorphism. Similarly, a finite covering space is regular if and only if the analogous canonical map is an isomorphism. In this paper we extend this point of view to actions of compact quantum groups on unital C*-algebras. We prove that such an action is free if and only if the canonical map (obtained using the underlying Hopf algebra of the compact quantum group) is an isomorphism. In particular, we are able to express the freeness of a compact Hausdorff topological group action on a compact Hausdorff topological space in algebraic terms.

Poisson-Lie groupoids and the contraction procedure

On the level of Lie algebras, the contraction procedure is a method to create a new Lie algebra from a given Lie algebra by rescaling generators and letting the scaling parameter tend to zero. One of the most well-known examples is the contraction from su(2) to e(2), the Lie algebra of upper-triangular matrices with zero trace and purely imaginary diagonal. In this paper, we will consider an extension of this contraction by taking also into consideration the natural bialgebra structures on these Lie algebras. This will give a bundle of central extensions of the above Lie algebras with a Lie bialgebroid structure having transversal component. We consider as well the dual Lie bialgebroid, which is in a sense easier to understand, and whose integration can be explicitly presented.

Torsion-freeness for fusion rings and tensor C*-categories

Torsion-freeness for discrete quantum groups was introduced by R. Meyer in order to formulate a version of the Baum-Connes conjecture for discrete quantum groups. In this note, we introduce torsion-freeness for abstract fusion rings. We show that a discrete quantum group is torsion-free if its associated fusion ring is torsion-free. In the latter case, we say that the discrete quantum group is strongly torsion-free. As applications, we show that the discrete quantum group duals of the free unitary quantum groups are strongly torsion-free, and that torsion-freeness of discrete quantum groups is preserved under Cartesian and free products. We also discuss torsion-freeness in the more general setting of abstract rigid tensor C*-categories

A q-Hankel transform associated to the quantum linking groupoid for the quantum SU(2) and E(2) groups

A q-analogue of Erdelyi's formula for the Hankel transform of the product of Laguerre polynomials is derived using the quantum linking groupoid between the quantum SU(2) and E(2) groups. The kernel of the q-Hankel transform is given by the 1\varphi1-q-Bessel function, and then the transform of a product of two Wall polynomials times a q-exponential is calculated as a product of two Wall polynomials times a q-exponential.

Quantum isometries and group dual subgroups

We study the discrete groups $Λ$ whose duals embed into a given compact quantum group, $\hatΛ\subset G$. In the matrix case $G\subset U_n^+$ the embedding condition is equivalent to having a quotient map $Γ_U\toΛ$, where $F=\{Γ_U|U\in U_n\}$ is a certain family of groups associated to $G$. We develop here a number of techniques for computing $F$, partly inspired from Bichon's classification of group dual subgroups $\hatΛ\subset S_n^+$. These results are motivated by Goswami's notion of quantum isometry group, because a compact connected Riemannian manifold cannot have non-abelian group dual isometries.

Comonoidal W*-Morita equivalence for von Neumann bialgebras

A theory of Galois co-objects for von Neumann bialgebras is introduced. This concept is closely related to the notion of comonoidal W*-Morita equivalence between von Neumann bialgebras, which is a Morita equivalence taking the comultiplication structure into account. We show that the property of `being a von Neumann algebraic quantum group' (i.e. `having invariant weights') is preserved under this equivalence relation. We also introduce the notion of a projective corepresentation for a von Neumann bialgebra, and show how it leads to a construction method for Galois co-objects and comonoidal W*-Morita equivalences.

On a correspondence between quantum SU(2), quantum E(2) and extended quantum SU(1,1)

In a previous paper, we showed how one can obtain from the action of a locally compact quantum group on a type I-factor a possibly new locally compact quantum group. In another paper, we applied this construction method to the action of quantum SU(2) on the standard Podles sphere to obtain Woronowicz' quantum E(2). In this paper, we will apply this technique to the action of quantum SU(2) on the quantum projective plane (whose associated von Neumann algebra is indeed a type I-factor). The locally compact quantum group which then comes out at the other side turns out to be the extended SU(1,1) quantum group, as constructed by Koelink and Kustermans. We also show that there exists a (non-trivial) quantum groupoid which has at its corners (the duals of) the three quantum groups mentioned above.

On projective representations for compact quantum groups

We study actions of compact quantum groups on type I factors, which may be interpreted as projective representations of compact quantum groups. We generalize to this setting some of Woronowicz' results concerning Peter-Weyl theory for compact quantum groups. The main new phenomenon is that for general compact quantum groups (more precisely, those which are not of Kac type), not all irreducible projective representations have to be finite-dimensional. As applications, we consider the theory of projective representations for the compact quantum groups associated to group von Neumann algebras of discrete groups, and consider a certain non-trivial projective representation for quantum SU(2).
