Knots with infinitely many non-characterizing slopes

Using the techniques on annulus twists, we observe that $6_3$ has infinitely many non-characterizing slopes, which affirmatively answers a question by Baker and Motegi. Furthermore, we prove that the knots $6_2$, $6_3$, $7_6$, $7_7$, $8_1$, $8_3$, $8_4$, $8_6$, $8_7$, $8_9$, $8_{10}$, $8_{11}$, $8_{12}$, $8_{13}$, $8_{14}$, $8_{17}$,$8_{20}$ and $8_{21}$ have infinitely many non-characterizing slopes. We also introduce the notion of trivial annulus twists and give some possible applications. Finally, we completely determine which knots have special annulus presentations up to 8-crossings.

A Khovanov type invariant derived from an unoriented HQFT for links in thickened surfaces

Two link diagrams on compact surfaces are strongly equivalent if they are related by Reidemeister moves and orientation preserving homeomorphisms of the surfaces. They are stably equivalent if they are related by the two previous operations and adding or removing handles. Turaev and Turner constructed a link homology for each stable equivalence class by applying an unoriented topological quantum field theory (TQFT) to a geometric chain complex similar to Bar-Natan's one. In this paper, by using an unoriented homotopy quantum field theory (HQFT), we construct a link homology for each strong equivalence class. Moreover, our homology yields an invariant of links in the oriented I-bundle of a compact surface.

The maximal degree of the Khovanov homology of a cable link

In this paper, we study the Khovanov homology of cable links. We first estimate the maximal homological degree term of the Khovanov homology of the ($2k+1$, $(2k+1)n$)-torus link and give a lower bound of its homological thickness. Specifically, we show that the homological thickness of the ($2k+1$, $(2k+1)n$)-torus link is greater than or equal to $k^{2}n+2$. Next, we study the maximal homological degree of the Khovanov homology of the ($p$, $pn$)-cabling of any knot with sufficiently large $n$. Furthermore, we compute the maximal homological degree term of the Khovanov homology of such a link with even $p$. As an application we compute the Khovanov homology and the Rasmussen invariant of a twisted Whitehead double of any knot with sufficiently many twists.
